Using a solar-powered air conditioner for three days, particularly with a setup consisting of 500 watts of solar panels, a 40A MPPT charge controller, and an LG 6000 BTU dual inverter air conditioner that draws an average of 250 watts, presents an interesting experiment in energy efficiency and sustainability.
First, let's consider the energy requirements and the solar setup. The LG 6000 BTU dual inverter air conditioner is notably efficient, with a power draw averaging around 250 watts. This efficiency is crucial for solar applications, where power availability is only a 280ah Eco-Worthy LifePo4 Battery. With 500 watts of solar panels, assuming peak sunlight conditions (about 5-6 hours of full sun per day), the system can generate approximately 2500-3000 watt-hours (Wh) of energy daily.
The 40A MPPT charge controller is a smart choice for this setup. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology ensures that the solar panels operate at their optimal power output, maximizing the energy harvested. This is especially important for maintaining a consistent power supply to the air conditioner and any other connected loads.
Over the course of three days, let's break down the energy usage and generation:
Daytime Operation: During peak sunlight hours, the 500-watt solar panels can fully power the air conditioner and potentially charge a battery for use during non-sunlight hours. Given the air conditioner's 250-watt draw, about 1000-1250 watt-hours from the generated 2500-3000 watt-hours can be directly used, leaving roughly 1500-1750 watt-hours for battery storage.
Nighttime Operation: For nighttime or overcast periods, the system relies on stored energy.
This scenario highlights the practicality of solar power for running energy-efficient appliances like the LG 6000 BTU dual inverter air conditioner. While real-world conditions such as varying sunlight, efficiency losses, and additional energy needs (e.g., for lights, electronics) can affect performance, the described setup demonstrates a viable method for sustainable cooling. It underscores the importance of pairing efficient appliances with appropriately scaled solar power systems, ensuring both environmental benefits and reliable performance.

    Great video!
I was out last weekend for my first trip of the season with my new 280 Eco Worthy. It was great! The weekend was generally overcast but my solar was enough to keep it charged (400 watts on roof and a 200 watt ground panel). My main power draw was using my Renogy 2000 watt inverter running a tv, computer (Mac Mini) and coffee maker as well as charging phones and tablets and my Mom's laptop.

I love that battery. It's the perfect amount of power and a great size.

Could you run AC around the clock on like Eco mode. Where it shuts off when temp is reached?

@@JWTX on a 280ah battey it runs around the clock for about 5 days. then you would need a generator to recharge the batteries. I use a Victron IP22 charger 30ah and a Powersmart 1500 watt inverter generator.
here are the two that I use.
      Victron IP22 amzn.to/46HI9UH
      Powersmart Generator amzn.to/3FnamE6.
The neat things is that you can still run the air conditioner, while you are recharging the battery.

Do you have a link for the AC? Thanks for the video. New Subscriber.... Jeff

It's in high demand so you might have to wait a week for it to come back in stock. If you use my link, I get a small commission but it doesn't charge that commission to you. It charges it to the seller.

If you have pets with you that, for whatever reason, need to stay inside, you would run the AC all the time.

Yes, I have another video testing if this can stay on permanently. That test shows how long and your options.
