I don’t know how they did it, but when I was serving in FDF in mid 90s, we were “in the forest” for a week during the bootcamp. I was never hungry, but didn’t need to empty myself for maybe five days.. felt like my body used literally everything that I put in my mouth.
34:11 I think the word they couldn't say was "pussi". I don't know exactly what it reads, but it probably says in Finnish "Maitojauhe pussi" (Milk Powder Bag). Turists used to laugh in Finnish supermarkets when they saw bags of chips with the words "Megapussi" on them. They later changed it to "Megabag".
I don't know if these traditional edible things are still on the Finnish Defence Forces menu: Piikkilankaeste (barbed wire obstacle=herring casserole) noppasoppa (dice soup) roiskeläppä (mud flap=pancake)
Those powdered drinks never taste good. In the 80s, when I was in the army, there was Hart Sport drink in the package. Because you often have to take that water from any terrain on the field, water purification tablets are included in the packages. Water purification tablets clean the impurities from the water, although Finland has the cleanest water in the world, but after using the purification tablets, the water tastes chlorinated, so any drinking powder that covers the taste of chlorine a little is good. And what they didn't want to say out loud in the video when they added sugar to the coffee was the name of the sugar manufacturer, which when pronounced by an American sounds, well, sounds like it sounds. Dansukker.
These foods are high quality! My son served in military and he gave me his left over bags when his service was over because he knew I enjoy of camping. And he was sick of military camping food at that point. Ofc these foods don't compare with home cooking using fresh ingredients but these are better than any similar products I have tasted so far.
The ham paste is sooooo good 🤤. I've loved it ever since I was a child. I could eat it straight from the tube, and I may have done it once or twice 🤭. But it's pretty expensive when you use it on a sandwich as much as I do, so I don't buy it too often. And the mash potato and beef is an old school lunch favourite. I don't know if they still serve it but in my school days it was one the foods that kids would go and ask more of.
It doesn't make you a chef if you're wearing a white chef's jacket. Just as it doesn't make me a brain surgeon in their clothes. Tyler is a former soldier and it shows in the stuff on the shelves in the back there and in his past videos.
As a Finn who did do my mandatory military service, I say my opinions about the food the in Finnish Defense Forces. It was good and there was plenty of it! Breakfast was usually things like porridge, bread, tea and cold drinks, though for those who had to serve weekends, they could get much fancier things on Sundays like scrambled eggs, sausages and coffee. Lunch and dinners were good proper "home food" and in the evenings, if you went to the "soldier homes" (sotilaskoti), you could get all the sweet treats from doughnuts, sodas. candys to sports drinks, and all the salty fatty foods from chips to pizzas.
Hated the food in the army. Only positive thing was the endless supply of Tabasco when eating at the mess hall. Usually my plate was more Tabasco than actual food.
At least our food was a bit better than school food. Some tasted actually good even. We didn't have it often, but chocolate mousse tasted way too good... always ended up eating too much of it.
I will also make a video about that Finnish packaging for my channel on December 6, Independence Day. There are already videos of several military MRE packages from different countries, go check them out.
Not everyone in the military service will get these. Usually real food is made in the forest by cooks or someone will bring the food from the garrison kitchen. These bags are used a lot by rediness unit (where i belong) 'cause you dont want to unit to slow down. Quick snack has to be available.
These are what you get for long marches in all units, and also recon units use these a lot. Real cooks do also make food but on the camps etc. Not on marches where you might march 25-75km. These also are designed to have enough kalories for a day. So you can give three baggages like these to say recon unit and he is fine for 3 days. Whatever mission you throw to them.
@@kimreinikainen Me neither, while serving same amount. Long march and 1 of those over 20km was on foot, second over 20km was on bike. This was on Armoured Brigade almost 10 years ago.
They put Sriracha sauce that comes from Thailand into that chicken pasta and commented it doesn't taste European. Wonder why...
😂
Americans . . What is even european taste i Wonder
I think the word that couldn't be said was Dansukker😉 ? it's a sugar brand in Finland😂

Sugar package has the makers name. Dansucker
dry ryebread "näkkileipä" with ham paste is really good...
Love to see it! Thanks for the reaction vid!
Hard To believe they are Americans indeed. No extra hustling and talking. Alomost like Finnish, 🤔👍🤭
And they spoiled these sport drinks. One bag is for like 1 liter of water! For my taste atleast.
your "kaakaojuomajauhe" was perfect almost :D 9+ i would say

Näkkileipä, made with rye, not sweet. Stays eatable for long, because its dry
