This is the best cricket I ever saw. Imran, Zaheer, Iqbal and Mushy. I grew up wondering what these games were like. Now I finally saw them. Thank you so much 👌👌👌Kerry Packer changed cricket and started day night with white ball

This production came to NZ and played in my town of Tauranga.
The Ozzies came to our school. I got taught how to catch by david hookes and rod marsh. Greg chapple was there Dennis lilley. It was pretty awesome esp them talking about the professionalism required at that level.
I think Desmond Haynes and defo Richard hadlee was in the world side by that time.
The pitch was awful. Marsh described it as the worst he'd ever played on.
As schoolkids, we were facing international bowlers, on worse wickets, no helmets, very thin pads and gloves with green rubber spikes as protection.
I remember, at 15, facing Richard Collinge off his long looooong run up. Absolutely packing it.

Greg Chappell said the 2 scores he made in New Zealand were 2 of his best innings ever. Greenest pitch he had ever seen.

Note also the field placings - it appears that the teams were still locked in a test match mentality with lots of slips etc. Note also the terrible running by the World XI and the several run outs. They were hesitant to take runs which now would be standard. The use of the white ball was an improvement too. WSC was a great chance to see some amazing players.

Bob Woolmer, who I saw play regularly for Kent in the late 1970s, was a strange choice for Packer to sign. He wasn't top class as a test batsman and wasn't firmly established at test level when Packer, via Tony Grieg, came calling.

And, Zaheer Abbas and Tony Greig from the " World 11 " of 1971-1972 versus Australia in this, which Lillee, Marsh, and Greg Chappell, and Doug Walters, were also in for Australia.
