This is a bad take. Out of the top 10 highest paid quarterbacks only one has a winning playoff record and that is Joe Burrow. Every team needs their players to perform around the quarterback in order to win Purdy can’t run the routes for guys. He can’t block people all they can do is deliver the ball where it needs to go. Pay The man already.
The Niners should extend his contract with some quarantee money. Perhaps a 4 year, 120 million dollar contract, with a 4th year option, and have about half of the contract extension be the guarantee (about 45-60 million). By resolving the qb contract early, your qb is set, and can start preparing for the upcoming season, plus it puts Purdy's mind at ease. Brock I believe is a different character, due to his background and humble beginnings, and knows for him to be protected, the o line needs an upgrade. The O line has been over looked, mainly because the skill players and qb play have improvised for that, ie. Purdy scrambling for 20 yards on 3rd down, instead of taking a sack, or Mason, Gurrendo, CMC, turning a 1 yard loss into a 7 yard play. And Kittle staying in to block *It is amazing how he can have the seasons he has, considering he stays in so much to help the o line, compared to Kelce, but still gets more yards than Kelce. Kyle and John honestly have drafted for the o line in recent years: Puni, McKivitz, Anthony Davis, Jake Brendell, and more. They are agile for the zone blocking, but lack the power for basic power runs and basic pass blocks. (Puni and Trent are exceptions). Every time the broadcast shows instant replays of Purdy getting sacked, it is one of the o linemen literally getting bulldozed over. Also Kyle has to adjust his play calling, if for anything, the state of the O line. NOthing fancy. Make it simple, if you cannot get the best out of them. BTW, Why keep running Deebo in the backfield? Why not #44? After all, he is a fullback, but can run too. The reason why Andy Reid's Chiefs are where they are is he adjusts plays for the personnel he has at hand. It was pretty much a gadget play he called, "corndog", in the Super Bowl that beat the Niners. And after they lost the Super Bowl to the Bucs, the O line was reinforced.
If you are seriously comparing Brock to Baker then I have to question your opinion Baker has been playing way more yrs than Brock you literally said it he had to develop to a really good QB ,this is Brock's 3yr and only his 2nd full season. What was Baker playing like in his 3rd season. I can't even continue to listen to you on this it's just so wrong. I'm not saying they should give him 50-60mil but I would never compare him to Baker. To me if wr can find a way to get him somewhere between 45-49 I think that would be great for both sides
Colin once stated that he wouldn't touch Derrick Henry in the draft as well as state Carson Wentz was a better QB than Tom Brady. Just because the masses watch his show, doesn't make him credible. Just remember 80 Million people voted for Biden.
I am a 45 year fan of the 49ers and think a lot of Brock Purdy. He should take 45 or even 40 M a year... a 3 year contact would be 120-135 mil over 3 years. Even if he settles for that, it is still over 40 times more than what he is getting. It's time to be real. It's not like he can't live on that. Also who cares what other QB's are making when you have been making under a million a year now. My goal (and challenge) for him, is to take the 40 or 45 and shut up. Then prove to everyone in the world what you can do by actually winning another Super Bowl for the fans and the 49er team. Look ahead to what you will get after THAT, if you manage to win 1 - 2 - or 3 times over the next 3 years. The burden is on him to prove he needs more. Being a loyal fan...I have always hated when a great player leaves this team. I saw the first 5 Super bowl wins. They were a great team with record breaking players. I was upset when both Joe Montana left, and then the great Jerry Rice left. Unless you get paid under 1 mil a year you should stay and do your best. 49er fans want great players, great plays, great games and then playoff games followed by a WIN at the Super Bowl. Don't be another great player to just bail out over a few million. I would dig ditches and then eat dog crap for 45 million a year. We live in a time when it is just getting insane. Yes,...under 1 M means getting screwed. 40-45 M is NOT. (It is fair). If Purdy wants more after taking the team all the way to the SB trophy...He can THEN ask for more. I hope he does what I just stated. I am a fan who believes in him. --- BTW...I don't know what George gets, but give that man a raise. He always works his ASS off. Just like CMC did before he got hurt. Any great team needs a great coach too. Kyle needs to be replaced with some Super Star Coach I think. One who knows what it takes to coach a SB winning team. (Like Walsh did 3 times) Can you guys suggest who would be a great replacement for Kyle? What are your thoughts on that?
I agree that there are things Kyle could learn from Walsh. They were great back then. I can't give advice about who would make a great coach now or even who is available.
@@MikeJonesScientist Well...we can't bring back Bill. He died in 2007. Here is more info about him for those that don't remember or know the facts. Bill Walsh served as 49ers head coach for 10 years, winning three Super Bowl championships, in the 1981, 1984, and 1988 seasons, and establishing a new NFL record. Walsh had a disciplined approach to game-planning, famously scripting the first 10-15 offensive plays before the start of each game.
Why don't you look at the big picture and not just this year. Purdy has only played for about 2 1/5 years and Mayfield has played much longer about 7 years. Purdy has won the division and have gone to the the super bowl, while Mayfield has not accomplished those milestones. I am not how much Purdy will be paid, but I am sure, the 49ers know what they are doing and it will be good for the player and for the organization.
Purdy being average with this level of injury and disfunction is good. But here is the question and we know the answer. The question isn’t if no one is available can brock overcome and lead us to victory. He can’t . No one can not named tom brady and patrick mahomes. The question is..if we put a solid team around this guy can we be competitive and win. Obviously the answer is yes cause he has done it. If he was a first round pick like CJ stroud who is also struggling this year, no one would question it. If you think that with cmc back next year, an upgraded and healthier oline and d-line that the 9ers can win next year then what is your worry? The cap concerns is a myth. Tua has an all star team. Jalen hurts has one, so does Lamar. If your team can draft and okay the system it does not affect your ability to be competitive.
If Brock isn't the answer what is the backup plan? Just suck forever like the Jags then draft a Trevor thinking we getting a Peyton Manning? The last time the 49ers drafted a QB that made the PB for them besides Purdy was Joe Montana... that was in 1979 so not a good record of getting good QBs in the building
You have to build your O-line for protection of your quarterback, You have to build your D-line to effectively stop the other teams. You Also Must invest in a Very Competent medical staff, one that can see a player's overuse, and the types of injuries that occurred during the season. These are not short term fixes, and much thought has to be geared toward keeping your developed players, not casting them off, like you are overloaded with depth. You can certainly entertain making Purdy one of the highest paid QB's in the NFL, but its definitely putting the old cart before the horse. No one seems to have graded Lynch and the front offices performance by letting go of successful coordinators, most taking a number of players with them. And lastly, Shanahan. When the team doesn't listen, goes on long, sustained runs of committing penalties, these may be signs of being tuned out by the players,as well as a fractured lockeroom. The Chicago Bears wanted to trade for him, in exchange for two (2) first round picks. Do that deal, or a Purdy max deal???
Not sure why many fans think these takes are crazy. I like Purdy as well but if you can get him around 40 million as opposed to 55-60, you can do much more with the team. Hes not carrying a bad team, we watched it this year.
I agree with what others are saying and to see what happens next year. I don't think we should be giving out big contracts to players on a down year like the Cowboys did with Dak.
Technically a QB makes money for the literally because of his entertainment value. Besides Mahomes, Purdy is the most talked about player in the NFL and it’s not even close. He should be paid top dollar.
I could not agree more, the precedent of bad organizations overpaying is one I’m not a fan of following. I’ve said it incessantly, there is no way I’m paying Brock $50+M per. No way.
Your wrong cow heard is wrong Brock has actually has not been bad this year in a lot of ways he has been better the team around him is awful. I honestly don't care how much they pay in two years it will be a steal however much we pay him it is just the nauture of the position. QB reset the market which will force the owners association to increase the salary cap to accommodate them...with how much the owners are making they can afford to pay the players more, when Mahomes, Allen, & Burrow sign their next contracts they will all be north of 70 a year. Purdy shouldn't even be playing, the team is risking getting him hurt trying to get a more team friendly deal, the NFLPA has already decided what he is going to get paid, it most likely be a heavily incentive laden contract but the per year is most likely already been decided. They are gonna use Purdy as lube for what is to come.
This is a useless video. SF is supposed to be a team of dynamic players. This season Trent, Ayiuk, and CMC held team blackmail for money. How'd that work out? Since the 70's the NFL has a few elite QBs and a bunch of talented ones. Talented QBs have rings too. You don't need a superstar QB - you need a QB that can evolve. Purdy, like all new QBs hit some regression LIKE ALL QBs . SBs require a team. This year we had a bunch of divas who forgot that. Pay your QB and build a team. 😊
That's a good point to make about the cowboys index Prescott but look at their success in the 1990s it does successful some of Troy aikman a little bit emmitt Smith but most of their success was that big offensive line that they had they had the best offensive line maybe in NFL history
I hate to do this because I really am a big fan of Brock Purdy and we're Christian both of us but at the same token business in this world with his play I've got to go under
Purdy is not it for us get rid of him he's not good under pressure stop just blaming the o line he's to little and his football IQ is low I'm a died hard 9er
The QB market is insane to me. Mahomes is clearly the most successful QB right now, so you'd think the market would be based around his contract. However, he's getting paid 45 mil a year with 12 QBs above him. Only 3 of those QBs have made it to the big game, but none of them have held the lombardi. Imo, anyone who gets paid more than Mahomes but has yet to go to the superbowl, let alone win one, is getting overpaid. Purdy shouldn't be getting more than 30-35 mil a year. 40 is a stretch, and 50 is overpaying.
Well you can't really just look at the per year number. You also have to look at how many years. Mahomes has a 10 year deal. If Mahomes gets hurt, then comes back and isn't the same it doesn't matter he's getting 45 million for those 10 years. Most teams don't want to lock into a guy for that long so they pay more per year but can walk away after 3 years.
Big U. Let purdy get what his play in the 2024 season earn him and if he get back to the purdy in 2023 then restructure his contact and give him more but 2025 i would personally franchise tag purdy
No one is saying that Brock Purdy is not a good quarterback, but he’s not good enough to pay that kind of money if that’s what you guys wanna do if that’s what you think we should do then be prepared to have four or five years of shitty years because we’re not gonna be able to put the talent around him because he can’t elevate average talent he needs to have really good to excellent talent around him to be excellent
I feel that KS doesn't believe in a dominant OL. KS believes that his improvising schemes will take pressure off the QB. BP is going to be just fine. I would say he's worth about 40-45/yr and let's not forget Mayfield has had a bad season or 2 as well.
I agree with you 100%. And, Kyle is an idiot if he doesn't upgrade the o-line. There's no reason why he shouldn't be able to score more than 17 points in back 2 back games. The main culprit is the atrocious o-line play.
I think that people blame Brock for a lot of the problems. While I do blame him for some of the issues but the o-line is one of the worse in the league. I also think that some of the play calling is just not working like it did last year. Then the last thing is the injuries. I do believe we need to fix things around Brock. With that said, I think that worse thing about Brock at this point is he is trying to fit the ball into windows that he shouldn't and he is not seeing the field like he did last year. In other words the whole team is a mess. When the offense plays well, the defense can't stop anything. When the defense plays well the offense cant move the ball. No complimentary football. They need to let Brock play out his contract and see how he plays next year before signing him. As of the moment I think 30-35 is what they should pay him. And that is from what I have seen him play the last couple years.
It took Baker Mayfield 7- 8 years to finally play well, with WR that are head over heals better than ayuik and deebo. 2 completely different situations. Props to Baker for playing good football, but Baker fot paid based on his entire career which was a majority of mediocre to Bad footbal. You cant say that about Brock who still hasn't played 3 full seasons. And has a career passer rating of 104, while baker is sitting at barely above 90. Smaller sample size for Brock, but there's way more context to how this season has gone. But lets not pretend like the Bucs had a harder schedule than the 49ers who literally came off a superbowl with injuries that Tampa bay couldn't even compare to.
Even with the Lions, or Detroits O-line Purdy isn't our future sorry. He struggles with any decent defense and can't play in rain, snow, wind, drizzle. I was sold on him at 1st, he was putting up stellar numbers, but I think he already peaked. Sorry I was soldnon him as well, but he declined and chokes in big games. His numbers look good but fails to be elite and make big plays when it matters. 9ers will pay him pry 55 to 60mill starting next year. So there goes more stars, we only had this team full of superstars because his contract. So he will just be Jimmy 2.0 IMO. Hope he can prove me wrong but he won't. Niners needbto draft abqb with a big arm and legs to run. Purdy doesnhisbbest tonextend plays but like last 2 games threwbanpick with a chance to win. Montan went 2-14 his 1st season than won the superbowl in year 1 and never looked back. Thats b4 Rice, Craig, Hanks and Lott on D. He did that with absuspect teamblike Mahomes did with the bad offense they had. Great QB'S find ways to win is all I'm saying granted we had alotbof injuries, but that was Brocks time to pit the team on his back and make plays. We couldn't even score a TD last week come on, and in the redzone we're horrible. Time ro get another qb beef up the O and D-line. Let Brock and ourbdraftedbqb dual it out. Start over on Special teams and we'll be right back in it. Hope Brock rurns it around just don't see it and myy apologies I thought hebwas the next big thing. We need a Allen, Jackson, Goff, Stafford (younger), or a Mahomes, even Davis. Purdybjustbreminds me of Dak
the god dam o line has been and issue for the last 4 years !!!!!!! how is he supposed to be qb 1 when hes scrambleing for his life every dam play perfect example is daniel jones decent quarterback but had 0 offensive line so he got hurt every 5 minutes because he had to run for his life every single play of every game WE NEED O LINE PERIOD!!!!!
Kyle is the problem. He can only design short plays. The problem is every team knows that now. If he doesn't have players who can get yards after the catch he's lost. He tries to change qb's to run his scheme which sucks. That why after their 1st or 2nd year they start looking bad
This has got to be a realistic thing it made rub people the wrong way like I said I'm a major block party fan but I'm sorry it's going to have to be a team friendly deal if if they choose to do this and yeah maybe slide above Baker because of the fact of last year or the last 2 years but I'm sorry not 50 can't be 50 million

And Kittle staying in to block
*It is amazing how he can have the seasons he has, considering he stays in so much to help the o line, compared to Kelce, but still gets more yards than Kelce.
COWHERD is a shit take producer and frankly Chase, you lose credibility by putting anything he says on your channel and taking him seriously.
We can still have a discussion about it. He has the most listened to sports radio show in the country. Sounds pretty credible
Colin once stated that he wouldn't touch Derrick Henry in the draft as well as state Carson Wentz was a better QB than Tom Brady. Just because the masses watch his show, doesn't make him credible. Just remember 80 Million people voted for Biden.
@@dalecoolbaugh8483so true
@49ersTV doesn't mean his take is always right.
@@49ersTV truth its not popular. You want to be popular?
Now everybody is doing it and where did he get that idea from ...
So, what are we thinking?
49ers will come in at 40mil.
Brock will come in at 50mil
They will settle at 45mil per year?
It will bw ovwr 50 for sure! Under 60 and over 50. I guess 58m
We need an oline more than anything if purdy is gonna be successful
How about each player playing hard and doing their best like the old 49ers that won 4 times in the 80's and then a 5th time in 1995 ?
Why don't you look at the big picture and not just this year. Purdy has only played for about 2 1/5 years and Mayfield has played much longer about 7 years. Purdy has won the division and have gone to the the super bowl, while Mayfield has not accomplished those milestones. I am not how much Purdy will be paid, but I am sure, the 49ers know what they are doing and it will be good for the player and for the organization.
Now you are joining the trash talking Brock crowd ... He isn't average...
Brock Purdy shouldn't resign after 2025. The 49ers have a track record of screwing over quarterbacks.
So since you didn't make it on tv you don't deserve good pay. Is that fair Chase?
He brought them all new Trucks for what
Mayfield's coach allows him to be himself
Not sure why many fans think these takes are crazy. I like Purdy as well but if you can get him around 40 million as opposed to 55-60, you can do much more with the team. Hes not carrying a bad team, we watched it this year.
Purdy is ranked 11th this season behind a crappy o-line. So actually that's pretty damn good considering he's running for his life majority of games.
Comparing a 3 year player against a vet is crazy
Your organization has a great track record of believing in the guy they pay so if you pay BP that’s your guy
No way.
Under!
Good point my dude don’t overpay half assed QBs
I hate to do this because I really am a big fan of Brock Purdy and we're Christian both of us but at the same token business in this world with his play I've got to go under
Under.
Based on Brock performance this year he only deserves between $30-$40 millions a year.
One week you say they should just tank the season the next week you hold their performance against them. 🤔
Well under $50 Mil
I mean we do have to look at the fact that Brock Purdy was trailing and bought the team back in both playoff games last year to get to the super bowl
Has Baker Mayfield been to the super bowl or win a NFC championship?
Purdy is not it for us get rid of him he's not good under pressure stop just blaming the o line he's to little and his football IQ is low I'm a died hard 9er
Id give him 30 million a year with stimulations in the contract if you win the Superbowl
No Brock is a 3rd rate Qb @$30 mill a year max ! We need to build OL and DL , otherwise Brock can not carry this team with weak lines
I think Brock should get 30 million a year gareneteed.
Exactly
Kyle has adjusted for the poor oline protection and the horrible separation of the WRs
I would pay Purdy 40 mil
"If" your going to be Colin cowherd puppet then I'm out of here. I just unsubscribed. Goodbye.
Man i wish we never of got rid of daniel brunskill
Baker has played better this year there's no doubt in you know we can look at the past the party but it's got to be okay this
What about a 150 million contract for 5 years 100 million guarantee
They'll still pay him through
Even with the Lions, or Detroits O-line Purdy isn't our future sorry.
I take Daniel’s wayyyy over Pirdy
BOOOM BABYYYY. TRUMP2024😎
Mayfield is about to get a 60 million dollar contract.
He just signed his deal
U Purdy is ok lower 1/3 of the league I would NEvER pay this guy
Purdy = Rattay
Mathew Stafford is getting paid 25 million / per year, and he is top 5 QB and beat the 49 ners, twice this year
No he's getting 40 million.
Stop crying and let him play out his contract. That way Brock can go to a team that's serious about winning....
the god dam o line has been and issue for the last 4 years !!!!!!! how is he supposed to be qb 1 when hes scrambleing for his life every dam play perfect example is daniel jones decent quarterback but had 0 offensive line so he got hurt every 5 minutes because he had to run for his life every single play of every game WE NEED O LINE PERIOD!!!!!
This disaster has been a team effort
Kyle is the problem. He can only design short plays. The problem is every team knows that now. If he doesn't have players who can get yards after the catch he's lost. He tries to change qb's to run his scheme which sucks. That why after their 1st or 2nd year they start looking bad
This has got to be a realistic thing it made rub people the wrong way like I said I'm a major block party fan but I'm sorry it's going to have to be a team friendly deal if if they choose to do this and yeah maybe slide above Baker because of the fact of last year or the last 2 years but I'm sorry not 50 can't be 50 million
yes under for now and money on other needed positions
So nick was wright?
Purdy fans are the guy who never had a girl and he finally lands a 5. You’re just happy to have a girl bro. Can’t win a 🏆 with her though. Yes we might be dry for a while. Doesn’t mean we over pay for a 5.
💯
Most of them are from Iowa😂
Purdy isn't a top 20 QB
Baker Mayfield
Can’t you see I’m trying to watch goddamn Monday night football
Is this the last Monday night game?
Next week is Lions at SF. Lions 30. SF 6.
Dak P. is the Most Overrated QB to get that type of Contract-That I have Ever seen!! At Least Brock Purdy has More Upside Potential!! and he's a Great Man of Character.💯🏈
Jimmy G all over again come on people open your eyes, just watch well be the same next season he cant play in bad weather all so period....
Colin Cowherd changes his opinion every week. I stopped listening to him years ago. I think Colin is trying to be the next skip bayless. lol
