I hadn't thought of using loppers for opening walnuts! I use them for splitting kindling though. For nipping the shells apart I have some tiny side cutters that work well, the size laying in your box, I grind thinner and make the points sharper to get the shelsl cracked without messing up the goodies.
I've never seen anyone else do it with loppers either - it just occurred to me; all glory to God. I like your thinking on the sharpened nippers idea - I have split-ring pliers which are very pointed and have an opposing tooth on the end of the other jaw. I'm going for try to see how those work when I get the occasion (very soon, likely!). Thanks for the heads up.
Yep, and a rewarding one at that. My favorite hobby is treating myself, but once they're out of the shell, they're worth 15 dollars/pound - the faster they're out, the more your hourly wage!

I've carpal tunnel but cannot find anyone else willing to hug my nuts.
ROFLMAO! I was wondering who would be the first to acknowledge the obvious double entendre - You win , with style.
sometimes this seems more of a hobby than an effort to eat some walnuts.

More. Nutritional than a handful of vitamins
Interesting.
Still haven't seen it done elsewhere. Enjoy!
