Watercolor Painting -Difference WET ON WET vs WET ON DRY Technics- Oranges-Tutorial Step by Step.

- In this video, I will paint oranges with sprig from my backyard garden. I will show you today how to paint wet on wet and wet on dry technics in watercolor for beginners step by step. I am going to paint 2 pieces. On the left side we will see wet on wet style and on right side we will see wet on dry style. We will learn what is the difference each working process.
I personally prefer wet on wet to wet on dry. Because the spreading the colors in wet on wet fascinates me. However wet on dry technique has also the merit of adding layer, depth and detail. Thank you for showing the comparison of two methods of painting same subject. Both are lovely in their own right. A very helpful lesson. I found the repetition of the music unpleasant and distracting so turned it right down. You are an accomplished artist. Thank you for sharing. 🎨✨

Thank You! Both so beautiful. Love the side by side comparison. Water color is so forgiving and exciting at the same time. I tend to enjoy wet on dry because I don’t appreciate the “bloom” when I am painting, but find it refreshing in other people’s art. LOL.

I prefer the wet-on-dry technique. The wet-on-wet painting looks too loose to me. Not that there's anything wrong with that if you like the finished piece.

Wet on wet looks like an underpainting. Wet on dry looks like the finished piece.
Which technique do you like more? I like to mix the wet on wet and wet on dry techniques to finish the watercolor.
@@Paintinghyun I mask off my subject with liquid latex. Then I fire in a wet on wet background. I let it dry, then I use an airbrush for different effects. Remove the masking, and use wet on dry technique to paint in the subject, and finish up the fine details. (I am a vintage aviation/motorsports artist)
