Here's an interview I did with WS Holland where he tells some Sun Studio stories.

You hit the honey hole of stories. I was born in the late 40s I grew up listening to all those guys. so these kinds of stories make my day. Thank you thank you very much.

I was born roughly 20 years after you, so I missed much of this when it was current, but these stories make my day too.

Fluke is the reason why I wanted to learn to play drums. He’s my drum mentor!

WS Holland is so amazing! When you listen to "Legend of John Henry's Hammer" live at Folsom Prison, that's still some of the best drumming I ever heard. And knowing that he basicly never had a clue what he was doing, it "just happened", is just jaw dropping.

I don't know if you know this Otis but Dave Roe was a lot more buttoned down with some others who interviewed him. I think he felt super comfortable around you and you got the real deal colourful stories. As if you were in the band, he treated you like a trusted equal and as a result we, the viewer, get the best version of him. Thanks for being you!

Cash; why did you quit playing for Carl Perkins?
Holland; he wouldn’t take back what he said.
    Cash; what did he say?
    Holland; you’re fired!
They told that little joke when I saw them at the Vogue, still hilarious to me.

This was great. Similar story. Our 1st drummer started to sit in with pots & pans and a phone book on a taped up box. Had never played drums. But, he just had a natural feel for it. He built large all glass/plexi display cases for dept. stores. He was given the job to cut and polish a plexi Tele for Keith Richards. It weighed a ton! Watched a Vern Gosdin video with Dave. Sort of forgot about him. That guy had a great voice. Thanks Otis. Good one.

I have something like this, in Pierre (Pier) South Dakota the Bassist or piano/keyboard player for Elvis his main band during most of his career except the Las Vegas set during tourist season was originally from South Dakota and he retired here. I never got to see him play as he played at the St Charles during the good years of the bar/restaurant, but he passed away in 2016 or something like that. Yes, I live in Piere (Pier) South Dakota. If I did not know Otis Gibs was from Indiana, I was going to guess he was from lower Iowa Quad Cities area based off the way he speaks.
