For those wondering one sure way of how to place the doors on this build (if you get the "needs support" message while trying to place them): Make sure you accomplish this while the floor pieces are still down early in the build. Place your doors and destroy them with a flamethrower trap. From there proceed as normal with the build and repair the doors towards the end (they're just easier to work around while destroyed).

I know its like a year out (and i did try to search the comments) but at 1:53 if you place your c.a.m.p there on that metal that looks like it sticks out and is peeling off, you can retain the build height (at least for what was built in this video) while still being able to grab the junk resource extractor. Though it does seem a bit picky. if you are at the junk pile looking at monorail, i placed my c.a.m.p right above the second rivet from the left and you may have to spin it
I used a glitched rug for my own camp placement, which is the final version you see, and that let me essentially place it in midair a little ways away from the monorail tower; that's how I got the resource collector in. If I remember correctly, when I posted the video that glitch was no longer working, so I didn't include that step.
So.. apparently, if you turn the nukacola stand backwards before merging it through the nukamachine, the little stand legs don't show up in the front of the machine and looks a bit better 😃
Thanks Kiki. I did this build and my lack of experience meant that it took a lot more than twenty minutes. It is the most attractive build I've done yet. I changed it here and there. For instance I didn't put normal height ceilings in the upper rooms. I put lofty glass ceilings in three stories higher. That way if you look up in those rooms you can see the monorail pylon structure. Looks great. Thanks again. I also really like the distant view of Watoga from the balcony.
I was one of the first people to build at this site. I found the junk pile shortly after launch and my camp remained there for about 3-4 months. Admittedly, it was a standing example of an amateur build, not something this cool by any means.
This is a great build. (As of this writing) you can still do the floating rug glitch by mashing the a button until it duplicates itself and placing a new camp on it. This let's you move the camp closer towards the scrap pile that you can harvest junk while retaining the height to let you build the 2nd story.
@@kikibplays took me like a solid hour, what worked for me was the round dlc thatchet rug placed on a small power pylon. I kept mashing A and eventually it glitched. I then had to place another power pylon nearby and kinda merge another thatchet rug into the now floating one and it let me place the camp on it.
I was trying merging for the first time a week ago and hit my mouse a little too fast and got the duplication of a desk, so it’s not fully patched out yet!
Love this build! Wanted to try it so I did. All works great, except I can't get any doors to snap to the doorways. Constantly telling me they need support. I'm assuming cause there's no floor, only roof? But the flooring underneath is all gone, so how did you get the doors to snap?
hey kiki b, i think i found a way to do the stairs without having to use roof pieces. i can't initially place the floors where the stairs go but after they're up you can kinda place them underneath and then remove the roofs

I got the resource creator in using a glitch that may have been patched recently, so I didn't include that part in this video. Roofs are used here instead of floors because it allows you to place stairs in ways you otherwise can't - stairs would have to be snapped to the center of a floor, but with roofs you can place the stairs to one side of the room instead.
i can't seem to get the double wall method to work anymore, i certainly hope that wasn't patched but i guess i can work around it. love love this build !!
It wasn't patched, but it doesn't work with every wall set. Try the barn, warehouse, brick, or metal base game walls, and change them to whatever you want after. It also works with some Atomic Shop/ season walls, but I don't know the complete list of the top of my head.
hello Kiki! I’m loving this build, but I have an issue with putting doors up, it says that it needs support and it won’t let me put them in either of the doorways that have roofs under them. What do you think? Also, do you know how I could remove a wall that I’ve put on accidentally without getting the “would not be accessible” message? Thank you!
Since we got an update yesterday, there may be some changes to the build system. Hopefully not, but you never know. For the doorways where you can't put in doors, you can try a few different things. The first and simplest is to use the basic wooden door with the broken glass panels in it (the one you start the game with) - that one will usually place with no trouble, and you can change it to another door after. If that doesn't work, try changing the doorway to a different doorway - barn, brick, whatever you've got (still use the basic wood door). And neither of those things work, try removing and replacing the wall - I've found that usually does the trick. As for the wall you want to remove, I assume it's got a roof attached and that's why you can't remove it? In that case, change the roof to a different shape (if it's flat, for example, change it to a corner roof). That will allow you to remove the wall.

Eventually I figured out that I have to put the doors inside the doorways before deleting the floors, otherwise it wouldn’t let me put any kind of door whatsoever, as for deleting the walls, I think they broke it even more with the recent update 😅 I had to replace the camp and do it all over again lol
It's been a while, but as far as I remember, I merged the display down into the dryer (or whichever was on the right), moved that into position, burned the dryer with the flamer trap, and then put the washer next to it.

Did they fix the ability to use a stair with the catwalk down, as it just says the stairs are floating if I try to do this from a 1nd floor down to a foundation (ground floor)
Well spotted, I originally placed my camp (months ago) using a glitch that's been patched since then. It used to be possible to create glitched camp items that the game read as permanent world objects, which you could then place your camp module on. I had glitched a rug in front of the tower about 3 stories up, so the collector is just inside my camp.
Bahahahahaha --> only found this *after* completing a much too complicated and time consuming version in the same place. Thanks for showing me and others the smart way to do this 😆

I usually end up test building something at least 2 or 3 times before I get a final recorded version. I used to be lazy about it and just start building and record everything start to finish, but it made the editing SO hard and would take hours and hours more to do 😣 This one was like 16 minutes of build footage by the time I'd worked all the kinks out and got the order just right, it was almost a joy to edit lol
You can do the whole thing without catwalks if you want to, you'll just put a foundation down on the ground out in front and run the stairs from there up into the tower. As for the stairs inside the house, you can put them in the center of the floors and still walk around them on both sides, I've built it that way a few times. I should do a short video on that, I have sneaky tricks to hide the base foundation as well!
To change roofs (or walls, or doors, or other things) you click the scrap/store button once, then on the popup you'll see an option to "replace." Click that and you can change it to any type of flat roof you have.
You can place doors in unsupported walls, but the flat roofs might prevent that sometimes. If they do, try changing them to slanted roofs, break them, and then place the door. Or just place the doors before you delete the floors. Either should work.
@@kikibplays tried both and it didn’t work, before deleting floors w door said the roofs were intersecting and now after destroying slanted roofs it says that the doors need support. I’ll try to figure it out though! Thank you.
Took me a lot longer than 20 minutes but I got there eventually, doors and all. Building is 1 place where I really miss being able to save. Amount of times I've got 90% through a build and had to restart or take half the structure down because I made a mistake.

Great tutorial. Being an avid CAMP builder, its ridiculous the amount of workarounds we have to do to achieve the simplest of ideas. We need less strict building allowances. I'm just not a fan of Custom Worlds and prefer to do it all in Adventure mode. Great build though!!
I agree 100%, we need FAR fewer restrictions. I only build in custom with adventure mode build rules (but free materials). Occasionally I'll mess around in Happy Builder when it's there, but I like the challenge of creating something that seems impossible. Also, I'm a bit of a showoff 😜
Sadly I don't see them ever fixing the building system. It's much too buggy and their programmers probably aren't experienced or skilled enough to fix it without breaking existing builds.
Did everything, and when I started decorating the front porch, my roof tile connecting to the stairs vanished! I'm gonna probably have to start it all over again 😢😢😢😢😢
It may have just been a visual glitch. Log off and back on and see if it fixes it. If not, then it sounds like you accidentally removed it while you were decorating.
For some reason I didn't include door placement in the video and you're not the first person to have trouble with it, sorry! You have to put the doors in before you remove the floors; just use a basic wooden door, and then you can change it to whatever type you want later. If it gives you trouble removing the floors, change the doorway walls to any other type, then back to doorways, and that should do the trick.
I think the bedroom and workroom sleeps be swapped, so that the bedroom is as far away from the entrance as possible (and thus safer) and that it's closer to the bathroom (so easier to move between the toilet/washing area and the bedroom in the morning/evening). The workroom, being more like a "garage" would be better as near to "outside", such as the "waiting room" thing that's partially on the outside of the dwelling. I also wouldn't keep magazines and other "soft" items outside, where the rain could damage them. The outside stairs need a few "supports" under a few sections, to make it look more believable (and safe) too. Apart from that, not bad!
yo you gotta try doing a build at the top of this tower. I have a build at the top inside the tower. There is a door cut out/room that looks like there was supposed to be an elevator. It is a fun area to do a build. Ooo or do a hanging structure, like your shipping container, hanging from the monorail track at the top, in the "0" area (if that makes sense). Anyway great build as always

I've had a blueprinted door work occasionally and actually clip to a doorway. Doesn't work all the time though unfortunately.
Wish I'd taken not of your post before I started Greg. Now I can't get the doors in without ripping the joint apart again. So I just used curtains.

How did you add items underneath stairs? I can manage a little but only with a mountain of manipulation.
Blueprint the item by itself, it will usually place just fine then.

Then put a foundation down somewhere in your camp. As long as there's one, it will let you do your thing.

You can just use regular floors throughout instead of roofs, and you'll have stairs in the middle instead of on the sides.

Sadly I don't see them ever fixing the building system. It's much too buggy and their programmers probably aren't experienced or skilled enough to fix it without breaking existing builds.

Trying to remove floors but it says that part of the structure would not be accessible
Either there's a wall you need to change to a doorway, or you've got stairs attached to your floor somewhere
Only stairs I had was the ones on the foundation to come up, also when I’m trying to do the catwalks the doorway/wall won’t go back underneath

Did everything, and when I started decorating the front porch, my roof tile connecting to the stairs vanished! I'm gonna probably have to start it all over again 😢😢😢😢😢
It may have just been a visual glitch. Log off and back on and see if it fixes it. If not, then it sounds like you accidentally removed it while you were decorating.

I built the base step by step but still managed to screw something up I can't put any doors in my doorway
For some reason I didn't include door placement in the video and you're not the first person to have trouble with it, sorry! You have to put the doors in before you remove the floors; just use a basic wooden door, and then you can change it to whatever type you want later. If it gives you trouble removing the floors, change the doorway walls to any other type, then back to doorways, and that should do the trick.

I think the bedroom and workroom sleeps be swapped, so that the bedroom is as far away from the entrance as possible (and thus safer) and that it's closer to the bathroom (so easier to move between the toilet/washing area and the bedroom in the morning/evening). The workroom, being more like a "garage" would be better as near to "outside", such as the "waiting room" thing that's partially on the outside of the dwelling. I also wouldn't keep magazines and other "soft" items outside, where the rain could damage them. The outside stairs need a few "supports" under a few sections, to make it look more believable (and safe) too. Apart from that, not bad!
yo you gotta try doing a build at the top of this tower. I have a build at the top inside the tower. There is a door cut out/room that looks like there was supposed to be an elevator. It is a fun area to do a build.
Ooo or do a hanging structure, like your shipping container, hanging from the monorail track at the top, in the "0" area (if that makes sense).

You can do it without the catwalks, you'll just leave the floors in and connect them down to the ground with a long staircase and one foundation.

Waaaay to hard to build and it can go wrong in any part of the process, which makes it extremely frustrating to do.
