Firs time here, I love your video. For me, this song is in the first place emotional. "I walked the ward for you, babe, A thousand miles for you, Now who dried my tears of pain, babe? A million times for you, for you, I'd sell my soul for you, babe, What's money to burn for you, for you, I'd give you all, and have none, babe, Justa, justa have you here by me...". Of course, when he sings In the midnight hour she cried more, more more, it is about sex. But form me, emotion is in the first place, also so great expressed by his voice. Rebel Yell is one of my all time favorites.
Not only was Africa loving this song with Billy but she also was very impressed by Steve Steven's guitar solo! That dude can play the guitar like nobody's business! Easily the BEST ROCK SONG of the 80's for me!
From what we know or hear about Billy he probably wrote this song about the lady he took home the night before writting it....... Obviously she enjoyed herself and Billy was happy to brag about it. lol IMO ..... Eyes Without a Face is his best song..... have a listen.
The rebel yell was a loud scream and the only recording of it occurred when all the remaining soldiers from both sides were come together on opposite sides of a stone wall and these were very old men. After the old rebel yell, they reached across the wall and shook hands. My grandfather was a medic in WW1 . He had breathing problems the rest of his life and my father had him stay with my family. My father was teaching the ROTC boys how to fire their rifles and hit what they were aiming at. This was in 1957, and they had potential grave sites available. His grave was between two men who died at in the battle. I had a job at a hydro turbine company that built turbines for all the huge dams they put in place on our great rivers especially when the Great Depression was happening. The facility was more than 100 years old. I worked there for about four years. At the time the Harley Davison company were building bikes in York Pennsylvania. I bought a new 1978 Superglue. I would ride over to the battlefield and sit with my back against a tree that was there. I would just think about how much I loved him and would say how thankful I was that they had fought in the battle that stopped the south there and the respect the American people had for them. I was around 7 or eight when my dad had taught there. I had walked over the entire battlefield. There a some impressive monuments That different states erected over time and as a kid I would get to a place high enough that would probably have killed me and I would jump off and my father would catch me. So I was fascinated by the entire battle and what took place. The history channel has new videos of experts and authors give their understanding of the events and situations that happened and how this battle was the beginning of the end of the the army of the confederacy. The right wing, maga fools are lining up to the Russians and being useful idiots for a dictator much like the the leadership of the southern armies. Robert Lee should have been handed, but President Lincoln wanted the south to come back into the union,so he let Lee live. When I saw one of the people that stormed the capital with a rebel flag inside, I have HATED the right wing of what was the republican party it takes all my willpower not to want to kill them. My father was a military historian and we had books on every war that involved the US Army. I didn’t have to get sent to Vietnam because I had a really high number and that shit show. My father was sent to West Point and worked for a general whose was in the same outfit as my dad. I had the run of the place because nobody was bothered with me. They had a 7 story library that I would house in. I could go inside the building where they had swimming pools and even guys sword fighting. The grounds were beautiful and there was a spot where they had put a huge chain across the river during the war. I would not go into a war in a foreign country, but I could fight in a war that brave Ukrainian people are involved in. I was on the West Point kids rifle team and learned how to hit what you were aiming at. People are crazy and life’s insane I used to care but things have changed. am a harmless old man now and spend my time playing with some of my old and rare left hand guitars. I just bought a 1966 Bandmaster and a 1967 Bassmaster. I am a Deadhead and met Jerry and the guys in 1971. Bear was running the sound system and I got dosed on his acid. I got hooked up with his dealer and sold his stuff with the money going into The Wall Of Sound, his masterpiece. Yes it has been a long strange trip. Roll Away The Dew. ⚡️🎸⚡️
I believe this is a song about the coming to and living in the US from the UK. I could be mistaken, but I think Billy is much more of an artist than he gets credits for
Hehehehe! This song takes me back to high school. I suppose the lyrics are about sex, but my friends and I back then used to focus more on the rebellion aspect. "In the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more" -- This is likely a tip of the hat to "In the Midnight Hour" by Wilson Pickett. Watch out for some of the lyrical transcriptions to "Rebel Yell". I checked just now and some of them are incorrect and vulgar.

Do Billy idol - To be a lover
It was the 80's. Almost every song was about sex. This song was just more direct than most.
Rebel Yell is a cocktail so he´s singin about drinkin that stuff with a girl.
I don't think it's important to understand the lyrics of the song. Like you said.... it's an eruption.
A modern Elvis incarnate . I love the song , ( Eye's with out a Face ) I put it on repeat .

You are cute
So a rebel yell is what the confederate soldiers scread
Did you take a deep breath of helium or something? You kind of sound like you did.
Try Billy song. Bitter taste
