    Same thing happened to me 4 years ago. It’s all a big scam. They held my entire household of furniture ransom until I paid the bill.

      I thought I was using a reputable company. Their name implied such but there was a small abbreviation I did not notice and the scam was on. The internet makes it damn near impossible to know exactly with whom you are dealing with anymore.

    They should be sued for inconveniencing this couple with extortion changing the price at the last second is so dirty especially to an old couple the judge should fine $ 4,300 and another $ 4,300 penalty

    Happened to my son and his wife outside of Philly. He calls me up and tells me how much the movers were trying to upcharge him. I told him to say no and walk. The movers lowered their price. I said to say no and walk. I told him I can hire a buddy with a CDL license, and I can pay for the truck and our buddy's hotel and get you there in time and for a lot less. He told the moving company this, and next thing you know, the price was back to pretty close to the original - there were one or two extra items that did require an upcharge, but not a $12,000, $7,000, or $5,000 one. In the end, they didn't get it to the destination on time, but they did get it there. You gotta have a backup plan in cases like this, and we did.

    The same thing happened to me a Year ago. Do not pay zip, until the ENTIRE total price is written. Also, they would damage your property if you try to negotiate with them. If initially there are any questions to price, don't let them into your home. Find another company or another way or just leave the items you can't take with you. I lost over $16,000 and I could have used that money to buy new STUFF!

    I drove for a couple big name movers over 30 years ago. This is a trick that gets pulled on customers by agents who represent those companies. The agent would always low bid to get the job, the customer is never clear on all the up-charges. If you have a blacktop driveway, a smart semi driver will not drive on it because the truck can damage it, so you get charged a long carry fee. If you live in an apartment complex that does not allow for semi access, you'll get charged a long carry and a shuttle fee because your possessions need to be shuttled to the semi truck. They will often tell you that the driver will bring packers with him/her which is not true. If a customer wants to be packed professionally, the agent does that in advance of moving day. I could mention so many other tricks that are used, stair carry, extra stop, car haul. Too numerous to mention, but you need to think of everything and have it all in a written legally binding contract.

    My daughter chose our movers based on their estimate; however, by the time it was over it cost 3x the estimate. They were Eastern European and held our items for 3 months before delivery. Plus, some items were broken and some stolen. They had stored 3 households in one large truck with no division and only ONE mover. They, or their people who "helped" pack us, took personal items including the only photos of my grandparents in college and dating.

    Even $2000 was too much for that small house; just crooks and they doubled the price, plus wanted a tip when they had the customers items on the truck! Shame on that company for taking advantage of this elderly couple. Everyone who is moving RESEARCH RESEARCH your moving company and get the full signed contract with ALL charges in writing before they even load your items.

    • @waterbottle4782
      @waterbottle4782 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because there are people whom open a fly by night business and when they show up at the customer's home it would be too late for the customer to get a reputable mover on moving day.

  • @arthurbb8937
    @arthurbb8937 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Don't they look everything over at your old place and recalculate price before they load up anything? You mean people get tricked into not knowing the price until you get to the new place and then they won't unload until you pay? I'm getting a firm price before you touch anything. Customers have to take some responsibility to avoid getting their junk held "hostage" I've moved a few times and you're not loading any of my junk until I know the total price on both ends.

    • @arthurbb8937
      @arthurbb8937 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      See that's what I'm thinking. Why would anyone wait until you get to the new house to get the final price? Look over my junk and recalculate it right there. Or get lost. Of you need to give yourself enough time to maybe get a new company. I never move on the absolute last day possible. I'll sleep on the couch a few days if I have to.

  • @petercook3143

    I dont trust them, I hire one company at one end, by the hour, to load. Then I hire another company at the other end to Unload, they never possess my stuff on their truck, its on my Uhaul or Penske. I did have a crew show up to move into house and started talking smack about costs higher for certain items, I let them keep rambling, they moved the heavy stuff, then booted them and unloaded the rest of it myself.

    Of course those crooks doubled the price. They know you won't refuse because you have to move that day. Unless you gave yourself a little wiggle room and have a few days to find another company. Then on top of that you tip the crooks. Why wouldn't they keep doing the same thing?

    Would have been cheaper all around if they had sold everything they had and then bought things brand new in Georgia. I don't feel bad for the elderly whatsoever. This couple has more than enough money. They just sold off a house that was probably paid for years ago with land attached so they made a pretty penny.
