    So glad I came across your video! I was about to buy a used speaker for $400 to replace mine, but after seeing your troubleshooting skills, I checked if that was the problem with mine. Yep! I didn't have the flat braided wire, but speaker wire seemed to work just fine. Speaker now works perfectly. You just saved me $400. Thanks.

      How long did the speaker wires last?

    • @tylerblevins8039
      @tylerblevins8039 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They only works for a few days. They would melt the copper wiring in half. I even used two 14 gauge wires. The speaker is now in the garbage.

    Awesome video. Was able to repair my subwoofer with speaker tinsel (instead of desoldering wires) and using clear epoxy for the cracked spider on the voice coil. Was going down the path to remove my rear seats, but your video gave me the inspiration to just pop up the rear deck.

    Thanks for showing this, pretty much only place on internet showing the rear dash(?) behind the seats being pryed open to get to the sub. How hard was this to do? Did everything go back into place as it should? I'm wondering about the rear motorized sunshade having issues in particular.
    Unfortunately I got the fancy motorized reclining seats so it may be a bit different for me regardless, but any info before I start fumbling around is greatly appreciated

      This one had the the reclining seats as well. Everything did go back together. There are a some white rectangular clamps that can be opened as well as velcro that hold the rear deck down.

    It looks like the connector has 4 wires and that two wires go to each side of the sub, does that mean that it’s a single channel with dual voice coil? I’m going to wire in an amp and aftermarket sub and want to take this factory sub signal as my new amp input. I want to wire these into a set of rcas. Which is positive and negative? Thank you.

    Hey man just had a question. I bought the same wire that you soldered with . And everytime when I solder the wire from one end to another it just keeps cutting off the end of the solder. Is there anything I can do to prevent that? Please if anyone would reply it would help alot

    • @BallinMafia
      @BallinMafia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used solder paste to transfer the heat from the soldering iron to the wire. Then I let the wire melt and absorb the solder before attempting to connect it to terminal. Basically the object that you're trying to solder should be hot enough to melt the solder itself.

    • @BallinMafia
      @BallinMafia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No sound from the woofer located in the rear deck. But you would need to figure out if the problem is with your woofer or amplifier.

      @@BallinMafia Mine still works, it is just making that buzzing/vibrating sound like it is torn. It started after a mechanic replaced my rear struts. I wonder if they did some damage or left something loose back there. But from your video it looks like there is a lot of protection over the speaker even as it stands alone.

      Had a 08 GS450H. With levinson Blew out my rear speaker. check other years out. I bought a speaker from another year. Different lexus part number. The only difference was placement of wiring in the connector. Cut the connector off and attached accordingly. I paid 175 for a new speaker. Clever way for Lexus to make more money. You think you need the exact speaker for that year. Not true. I did not buy from Lexus. But new off eBay

    I managed to get to the rear sub on my LS460 but cannot remove those darn sub speaker screws. They seem to be an odd removal screw but that I cannot find anywhere. Any idea what type it is and where I can get it? Please let me know.
    By the, will I need to disconnect the car battery before I take the sup out? Will it trigger any codes if I don’t and I happen to turn in the radio?
    Thank you.

      The bolts that hold the speaker in place are 10mm. The small screws rotate hold the cap on the back of the dub are torx screws (I don't remember what size) but you cam buy the tool at an automotive stove. No need to disconnect the battery. No codes will thrown but doing this.

      I tried different hex torque bits/hex to remove them and none can loosen them up. It’s definitely an odd kind of screw head. Which auto part store did you get it from? Do you have a pic of the type? That’s all I’m needing to unscrew the screws and remove the screws.
      By the way, any new updates on the stuff I’ll need to repair it?
