Now it's time for Etat Libre d'Orange "Experimentum Crucis", "500 Years" and "Spice Must Flow" to be analyzed in ways it has never been done before. What does it smell like??

This is such a refreshing way of reviewing perfume! So right up my alley. Also, I literally just tested Spice Must Flow and 500 years last night. Somehow I ended up on Reddit which led me to this post. I'm so glad to say that we almost have the same thoughts on the two fragrances I mentioned. Experimentum Crucis was unavailable so I'll save that test for the future. More power to you and this style of presentation! 😄

Your review style is amazingly unique, knowledgeable and as the owner of all three scents I can defiantly say you have captured the essence of these scents. They have a thread of rose tying them together, but your beverage comparison illustrates how they sit in the same family.

I personally think of fragrances in terms of symphonies or music. But colors work well too. You gave me a much clearer. idea of what experimentum crucis would smell like.

@@Smellomania yes, regardless of the notes cathegories (fruit, flowers or whatever) I really appreciate the structure of the fragrances, the way each note makes its way into the fragrance (when, how). I don't like so-called well-blended fragrances where you can't distinguish the notes.
Actually with respect to experimentum crucis, I have learned from others reviewers that in this one the notes remain well distinct and sharp. That's why I am interested in it.

This is so cool. Etienne should hire you to do some promos. I’m sniffing Spice Must Flow on my wrist right now and the fizzy ginger note is finally clicking for me. Sadly Experimentum Crucis ends up more like juicy armpit than juicy rose 😔.

Which is the best?
Depends on what you're looking for. Experimentum Crucis is definitely the most feminine and fruity one, Spice Must Flow is completely unisex, soapy, and spicy. 500 Years is a bit darker, heavier, most masculine of them all.

Oh, that's the beauty with unisex perfumes. I actually stopped labeling them like this because it's all in our heads!
Experimentum Crucis is very popular among women where I'm from so my head automatically "assumed" this. But it's a very beautiful scent which can totally be worn by anybody :)
