- Despite a recent ratcheting up of “negative campaigning” by its detractors, the Patriotic Alliance is shaping up as a potent force in South African politics - evidenced by yesterday’s comfortable victory over the ANC incumbent in a well contested by-election in Johannesburg. Co-founder Charles Cilliers explains how the victory was crafted, and how it will send a message to the other free enterprise-supporting political parties. Especially the Official opposition, the Democratic Alliance, which also performed well in yesterday’s by-elections, retaining four wards, growing its share of the vote by well into double figures in two of them. Voters are pointing towards a clear path to victory in 2024 for opposition parties - but only if they start behaving in a manner that reflects the enormity of what is at stake for the country. He spoke to Alec Hogg of BizNews.

The opposition parties will cause the down fall of SA, because of their petty differences. If they truly care about SA they should put their petty difference aside and start working together to save SA.

They have a good campaign model but we know Corne wont swing JHB as black youth won't vote conservative. But the FF+ defiantly has nation wide majority with Colourds and Zulus.

If only more Afrikaners realise that in the proportional system, you actually _can_ vote for your values, and there is no need to vote DA just because its the biggest oposition party. Luckilly, after 20 years, it seems like our people are finally but slowly waking up to that fact.

It is so sad that those of us who love this country and can see how the ANC has failed so dismally, to see this PA guy, attacking the DA as if it is the DAs fault that the country is so messed up. As an ordinary citizen, I couldn't care less what the petty, personal differences are between the various politicians of the various parties. I am only concerned with the main issue - get rid of the ANC. Hey people. Get it together. PLEASE!
Unfortunately the DA is self-destructive & had a great opportunity to transform the country but their short-sightedness & over-inflated egos got the better of their brains.
Well done to the PA for their good performance in Johannesburg. However their issues with the DA in Knysna and withdrawal from the ruling coalition have greatly prejudiced Knysna ratepayers. The succeeding ANC controlled administration has approved massively inflated and unrealistic property valuations while not being prepared to make any compensatory adjustment in the rates tariff as recommended by National Treasury. Rates are about to increase between 70% and 350% for many property owners which is going to have very negative consequences for the town, actual property values, business activity and employment levels. Perhaps a ratepayers' legal class action, as successfully pursued by Kokstad residents under a very similar set of circumstances, is the way forward.
Thats the price to pay for voting PA. A vote for the PA is a vote for the anc.

PA,VF and all the small parties should set an alliance with the DA to get the ANC out.Atleast the DA does well with what the government offers them in funds.

Cape Town as the lowest inequality index of any metropolitan area in South Africa, highest level of job creation, cleanest government lowest crime rates, best education. It is not just about saying how bad the ANC is - we all know that. They have policies that work and get people working.

I can tell you that all areas in cape Flats have sink holes and not pot holes staircases collapsing extremely high crime and unemployment. No services for dumping sites created by people from different areas dumping waste on the Cape Flats mostly done by small and medium businesses.recreational centre's inform local coloureds that they may not make use of the facility however every evening a group of foreigners are allowed in to make use of the city 5 a side soccer pitch and this happens at rooikrans recreational center I can send you videos where these officials are confronted and believe they are better than us. The DA only invest in white areas. The DA and HSF must be in cohorts because they both defend jobs and livelihood of foreigners over the local voters who put them in power and we will see how far that gets them. The DA would like to turn the WC into Palistine with these unwanted foreigners. The PA is making inroads across racial lines. We are extremely relevant. Thank you Leader Charles Cillier.
When people refer to a Leader, they expose their weakness, incompetence and insecurity. This is the lesson from George Orwell's animal farm. A society that recognises the natural abilities in others need not elevate these individuals to the detriment of others. The application of meritocracy requires people who are humble without aires and graces. Respect is earned. Mr. Cilliers seems to be a refreshing alternative to the biparty ANC/DA coalition.
If I am to bare arms, only then will I seek and query the chain of command viz. Leadership. No politician will be my master.

Even Gayton said in his last video with Alec that he made mistakes and is willing to work for SA citizens but then he doesn't actually change anything with how he operates. The DA will not take a lesson or concede a loss here...they have pivoted strategies quite a bit. From the moonshot pact that has lost steam to proposing federalism; leaving the majority vote to narrow their focus to their traditional base to considering and laying the ground work for the ANC back door to the union buildings🤦♂️

Thats for the voters to decide and judging by yesterday's by election results, theres a demand for the DA across the country. In ward 83 in Tshwane they got 72% and in ward 14 in the Steve Tshwete municipality in Mupumalanga, they 96%, so sadly for you, they going nowhere.

If the DA controlled Johannesburg for a year, then the streets in Johannesburg would look as good as the streets in Cape Town. A clean audit from our government says a lot of things.
