The 2023 Cajun Canyons Billfish Classic
Based out of Venice Louisiana, Cajun Canyons is the third stop on the Marlin Madness Gulf Coast tour. Featuring 18 teams this year Team All IN faces off against familiar faces in search for a first place finish.
This years Cajun Canyons provides its own set of difficulties through a very unfavorable weather forecast. Captain Blake and the Crew prepare themselves for three days of rough waves. Capt. Blake states that there will be -“3-5ft 4-6ft with the occasional bigger”. Revealing to the audience the size of waves the 62’ viking will have to face.
After a slow slow slow ride out Team All IN fishes hard in search for that magic every tournament fisherman is addicted to. Unfortunately the team was only able to release one blue marlin, but what a show that marlin put on. Towards the end of day three a blue marlin comes crashing into the spread chasing the teaser all the way to back of the boat where Big Dog feeds it the pitch and BOOM they were on. Gregg worked that fish stand-up which is never easy, especially when its a big angry blue marlin and shortly after they had the release.
Even though these three days were tough and rough that fish makes it all worth it. Our next tournament on the tour is the Mississippi Gulf Coast BillFish Classic out of Biloxi. Be sure to LIKE & Subscribe for more MARLIN MADNESS.
