It's hard to pick, I generally like Hokkaido and have it on one of my priority lists of "to visit" places in Japan whenever it opens up and starts allowing foreigners back in. But Otaru sounds really nice. That's another place added to my list of "perfect date spots" lol

That ice cream looks pretty good. I found a place in London that does Sapporo style ramen, it was pretty good but I'd like to try it in Sapporo some time. It also looks a really interesting city to explore.

Fantastic vdieo Sara! I was looking for a video on Sapporo, I will spend two months in Tokyo (from next Sunday), and a few days in Sapporo mid September so I didn't know what to do other than going to the Brewery (Which I will go because I love Sapporo beer haha). Also, I am a huge fan of History so thank you for the History lessons!
It's interesting how you point out the beautiful sunset at the cemetery, and how couples park up to watch.. There is a cemetery on hill in my town. It has the best views of the town and of course stunningly beautiful sunsets.. Many couples have enjoyed the sunset there over the years.
I think it's really nice when we put thought into the location of these sacred places. If my body is to rest eternally somewhere, let it have a beautiful sunset.

Good news! Apparently, Japan will be opening its borders to individual tourists starting October 11! I just posted on my channel our travel to Sapporo last 2020, a month before all the pandemic restrictions were imposed cause I really missed the country. Hopefully, if everything goes well, looking forward to our trip to Osaka this coming November
I am always so impressed with how clean the streets and sidewalks are in Japan unlike any other place in the world. You just don't see litter in Japan. Awesome!
You’ll see litter when the snow melts in the spring and reveals the cigarette butts and snack food packages buried in the snow during the winter...

I wish Japan would open again to foreign travel. I was in Fukuoka 2 years ago and had a fantastic time. Planning to visit the Hokkaido area in the future to indulge in Japanese food and culture!
I'm currently saving up money and trying to get my Japanese language learning together while there is still time and when it opens up I will be ready. I'd say save up money as well until then and you will be glad that you did once you get to go I'm sure :)

A little fun fact: Everybody calls the place where moais are from "Easter Island" but the actual name is Rapa Nui.

Thanks for doing this video. I love Sapporo, its people, its beer, its sights and of course its Royce. But there's something in Sapporo that makes me sad and gloomy. I dunno what or why, maybe because it's cold.
I felt that too! There’s something gloomy about Sapporo… yes probably because it’s mostly cloudy (at least whilst I was there) and cold lol
otaru was amazing right? i hope they stilled served samples at leTao? maybe not with covid now.. but your ice cream looking amazing! i missed out on the moia park..lucky!
They were still serving samples at LeTAO! But I think the variety of things you could try were limited

I was really hoping you won that Doraemon plushie. 🥲 Lots of good information in this video. Question about domestic travel. Do People from Tokyo prefer to take a flight vs the Shinkansen to Hokkaido? I assume it’s faster and cheaper to fly.
Same, I was really disappointed that I didn't get the Doraemon 😭
People living in Tokyo (or even more more west like Osaka or Fukuoka) prefer taking a flight to Hokkaido ! As you said, it's definitely faster and cheaper 👍 It takes about 5h by Shinkansen from Tokyo to Hokkaido hahahah

@@TokyoFoodieSarah If you've never been on a brewery tour, I think you might find it pretty interesting even if you're not a big beer drinker. Perhaps they do similar tours at sake breweries, though, if you are looking for future video ideas.

Hi miss Sarah, do you know when Japan will open up for Tourists? i have been to hokkiado every winter for the past 8 years. My last trip was christmas in 2019. I missed the announcements in the JR trains. I missed taking shinkansen from Tokyo to Hakodate. I missed otaru canal. I missed the snow festival. ..

I visited in September and it was great! Anytime from spring to autumn is good because you can enjoy different types of flowers. In the summer it’s not too hot so it’s great
