From an outsider's perspective it really feels like you guys did the footwork scene justice, and I love that you gave good attention to the music aspect of the scene, as well as the dance and culture aspect of it too. RIP RASHAD
I hope that new generations modify this whole movement in a way that it keeps its origin but at the same time it will keep on innovating with whole new ideas cause at the end it's what is all about making what you feel listening to whatever you want changing and showing others what you are and where you come from. Great documentary! RIP Rashad.
Thank you so much for making this. Valuable footage and information. It's so great to see the passion and support each member gives each other. THAT'S how a scene is made. RIP Rashad.
absolutely amazing documentary on a scene that I adore, but probably, and unfortunately, will never be a part of. but the passion that these guys have is so real that it makes me keep on bettering my producing
This documentary is amazing! Love to see the origins of this music scene, I bet juke/footwork will get even more attention in the future.... RIP DJ Rashad, really amazing artist that will be missed, he really did some timless work.... and you really should list the tracks in this movie... just awesome!
Really good documentary. I need to take a trip to the Chi to see the movement up close and personal. I pray that the movement doesn't become watered down BS. To all the footworkers and DJs of this incredible movement, OWN YOUR SHIT, the outsiders can get the crumbs. BIG UP!!!
Anybody know the song with the voice sample of Rashad " She lurkin on a book", She inbox me her number.." at @34:30. It was a very interessting session, i would like to hear the final version.
at the roots of production of all these sub sub genres and mutations.. hip hop, sampling, jungle, drum&Bass, juke, footwerk, trap, arca ... future hop ! The Akai MPC Legacy
Great documentary. footwork has never seen Richmond VA, I wish I could experience the Chicago footwork scene in its true essence. Never even met anyone who knows bout that shit round here! R.I.P. Rashad 🪦
The song at 32:00 min please?? ... i know its in the documentary in a few other places as well. Great work here from Tim & Barry thank you for putting this together.
I'll say this, I've been following Chicago footwurk since '04. I'm from GA. I love the culture. Its one of a kind. The problem I have is that it seems like your culture is just being given away. And because it's being given away to other nations, the back communities of Chicago can't and won't reap the benefits except the DJs. I think the culture can be used to bring more to the black communities of Chicago to help them bring more funds to their community and put African americans to work. Chicago footwurkers need to know their worth and if they just giving it away to Europe, and if they just giving it away to Europe and all these other nations than I guess its not worth much. But all in all I do love the culture because I love the music, it helped save my life.
Kim Stennabb Caesar ma'am they are GIVING IT AWAY. i won't expect you to understand that because you really don't understand commerce. They have an industry and dont even know it. Sharing it is okay, you never heard me say that sharing was wrong, what I do know is that when you have an industry and your just giving it away to foreigners, that's big trouble. Because now foreigners can capitalize on something that they didn't produce.
And before anyone jump to conclusions YES I DO BELIEVE THAT THE AFRICAN AMERICANS OF CHICAGO SHOULD HAVE KEEP THIS TO THEMSELVES UNTIL THE COULD HAVE A MADE A BUSINESS OUT OF IT. Take that how ever you may feel.
diezdiazgiant i wanted a r70 but ended up getting the r8 instead, not realizing that i need an expansion card for the sounds i wanted, the dance mania classic dr660 has been going up also
Beyond inspired, Chicago Footwork is going to make its big come back in 2020. How do the Dj's benefit?
You can't give away culture, only share it. That's what culture is for.
