Dude thank you so much for your video…I was completely successful in replacing all 3 belts and my RX-202 is working like a charm! You’re the best, thank you!
I acquired a 202. Just putting it on the bench for idler and belts. Nice machine. Children of the Sun....excellent stuff. Have cassette, CD and vinyl. I appreciate the video! You have the right attitude...step back if needed, take your time. Tape and I go back to 1980...USAF...2" AMPEX Quad video, then RTR's and all the rest. Tape played an important role for some of us. Take care!
This deck featured in the film "Basic Instinct". I noted the deck rotating the cassette and always kept an eye out for a one. Purchased one in 1988/9, still have it. Changed the belts, and still enjoy the music.
Thank you so much. I was able to replace my tire following your advice. I forgot to install the cassette cover backplate and I had to remove the brackets again lol.
Clean deck, nice job on the service. MSRP in '82 was $879. Scotch tape makes the driver wheel job simple and easy. Info on the tape counter is wrong. Basic Sankyo mech...just upside down. Don't you wish it was a 505? 3 heads...dual capstan...closed loop...pad lifter, et cetera.
After watching your video I was inspired to check my own RX202. I dropped in a tape, but before I realized it, it started spewing tape from the top of the cassette. It seems the take up spool was not working. BUT, the tape is now stuck and will not eject, so I cant remove it. Is there any way to remove the tape manually so I can replace the belts and idler wheel. Are you able to help, or do I need to contact Yoda! Thanks for an informative video!
Like your video Purchased a RX 202 The person who I purchased it from preformed maintenance after watching your video. Why does the Idler wheel, according to posts I have read ware out so fast. I also own a DR-1 and a CR7A fully serviced Jeff
41:30 Hi Jedi, followed your video all belts and drive wheel replaced. Deck plays but will not auto reverse and continue unless I manually flip to be side. Any ideas?
Hello Jedi, thanks for the reply! Timing mark was slightly off… I kept rotating and retrying and by luck SUCCESS! Putting it back together now! Thank you, thank you THANK YOU🎉
@HiFi Jedi it's amazing! I worked for a company in 1984 that sold both the 202 and Dragon... Im playing tapes Maxell XLII 90s made on those two display decks and I'm just blown away at the sound quality 39yrs later!!!
