They're definitely such cool kayaks that can go to so many places. Sometimes I'm just out enjoying the views and not worried about footage, but I should definitely record more. It looks like you get around with your TI quite a bit as well!
@@seewind - I wish we lived closer together. It looks you live in a great place. Mine is a 2008, so it's far from new. Hobie makes some good stuff for the hobbyists.
I have a bunch of video of the AI, but I don't always post. I should post more kayaking stuff. I just peeked in on your channel... very cool stuff. We're taking a TI out soon too. It's a pretty big kayak.
@@agraygoat Sounds good! When I make a movie from a trip, it is easier to remember the memories form that trip. Then I can watch my movie after a couple of years, and remember all about te trip :)
I'm running a Garmin unit and the transducer hangs off the side of the kayak and battery sits on top with a main switch. I know some folks shove their transducers/batteries inside of the hull.
@@agraygoat Supposedly there's a space in the bottom side of the hull for them now... but I can't find measurements / any info online as to the exact details so, can't tell which transducers will fit in it & what won't. :( Planning on meeting up with a Hobie dealer next week so... will find out then hopefully. :)
@@fpvpastor7988 - I chatted with my friend who has a lot more experience with the newer Hobies. The newer Hobies (2015+) all came with a spot that will fit a Lowrance unit. You can get other brackets for other units apparently as well. Let me know though. I'm curious as to what you find out.
@@agraygoat Thanks. Yeah, I see "lots" (relatively speaking) of PR on the "Lowrance" compatible bay / spot for the transducer in the bottom / underside of the hull but... I can't find ANY - ZERO - ZIP information about it. No basic dimensions or anything. Just that it was created in conjunction with Lowrance... implying that it'll fit all Lowrance transducers!?! Or only some? Doesn't say. Weird. And VERY unhelpful when trying to determine what GPS/FishFinder you're going to get... as there's no way to tell what transducer will or will not work... other than the generic implication that if its a Lowrance it'll fit. :( So yeah, there's a boat show here in a couple weeks that our local Hobie dealer will be at, and he usually brings a slew of boats so... I'm hoping to get my eyes on this in person, take some measurements & get some pics. I take possession of my new TI (bought in the fall 2022) in the spring and would like to be good to go / ready with a SOMETHING for charts & navigation! :) Thanks again for the help, and for looking into it further / talking to your friend. I appreciate it. Assuming I can find something definitive here, I'll write you back with the info.
Looks like a fun place to sail and camp. Keep the Hobie Island videos coming. Glad your 4th Island did not disappear with the night high tide! ⛵⛵⛵⛵

@@agraygoat Yes, try to sail monthly year round. Love the TI. Could use an update but I have learned to live with the flaws.

@@arctictandemisland7270 - I love your use of a drone. I have a drone but am nervous about taking it out, especially over water.
@@agraygoat Me too!
What GPS are you using - and does its transducer fit in the spot the Hobie has for it (Lowrance compatible, right?)?
