This a nice way to explain sinking reverb with our BPM when you choose the time length of your decay time don't you think we have to subtract the predelay value to make it end exactly when we need because the reverb comes after the predelay time🤔🤷🏽♂️
It sounds really good and perfect with the calculated delay. But i dont think it has to end exactly where the next note starts... Maybe as a rythm, yes.
Thanks! When do you choose to use no predelay though? Like would we always want to give it a delay? Also, do the echoes stop everytime the the chord hits again, regardless of decay time? Sorry lots of questions, I'm struggling with reverb. Thanks for your vid again!
Because there's one bar between each chord, you're right if the thing is to make some "sidechain" effect between the reverb and the kick but I think he only doesn't want to lush the reverb with the following chord.
arseniy milliseconds ARE tiny, so like at 60ms he'd only have to subtract .06 seconds so the difference would be minimal. But i do 100% agree with you. Imo for an exact, synced, value you should subtract the pre-delay from the decay.
Do you have any tutorials from Austin on drums??? And drum processing? His sound is thunderstorm...if so pls direct me to the purchase page...thank you!!
You can do better job by ear in solo just don’t let it overlap the next note in the instrument or else it will cloud your mix just adjust the decay time/ predelay. You could also sidechain a compressor to the send, but it will pump a little and I prefer just adjusting the decay and predelay. There are times where with a very very sparse mix you can use reverb creatively and do super long decays but in a context of a full mix with clarity it will take away from the clarity. In the end it’s a matter of opinion, some people like cloudy mixes. It is art in the end and your free to express yourself.
it is actually used a lot by EDM proucer ,most of the time on drop..as it helps to keep everything "cleener"..especially if you sidechain the reverb too
Miles Coleman it's used for mixing multiple tasks with similar characteristics together as one track. but you don't have to use it for that reason. Say you want two vocals to have the same delay but you want to eq the vocals separately you could route vocals to the bus after the audio signal is processed through their individual eq.
No its not wrong.its a matter of taste ..many producers do this by ear..it depends on the track ,what u want to achieve and what space you want to place your synths or vocal into:)
but reverb is actually represent the size of the space , the tempo is changeable, but the space size is constant.......so i just doubt of this trick if meaningful
many producers use this technique in EDM .It is best used just for the synths on drop in my opinion as it helps to get a "cleaner" mix as everything will work & glue together better..it might actually give a nice rythm/groove as well to your overall mix,if you also sidechain the reverb.. if you add reverb in random time and you have too many layers of synths, you will probably have difficult time adding the reverb to the "correct" place and make it work in the mix,as everything will sound a bit messy.in general on drop you want everything to work &pump nicely & rythmically together
I'm mathematical by nature. I don't just pick random numbers when I can instead choose times that have a relationship to the time of the track. Duh. Cool to see someone else does this.
Die Beispiele sind nicht sehr vorbildlich demonstriert, damit kann ein Anfänger eher wenig anfangen. Ich habe als erfahrener Produzent in 40 Jahren, so eine Vorführung selten erlebt!
I’m sorry this guy is probably a great guy and a nice man but he should not do tutorials he goes off on tangents well you should just get right to the point what we watch tutorials we want the information right away we don’t want stories
The best effect here is the unintentional whistle at 8:45 ;)
hahahahahhahahhah :D

60,000 ÷ BPM = milliseconds per ¼ note.
I was hoping to see this comment, thanks.
Steven Slim how to calculate 6/8 Beat song
divide by 4 to get 4/4
or divide by 2 to get 1/4
0:00 your intro logo is awesome
All this time working with audio and never thought the importance of this sync difference it makes..shame in me! God bless you kind sir!!
Everything can become musical if it is synced with a beat. Compressor attack and release settings are time dependend as well :)
Your tuto is clear, thank you !😊
This is great. I've wasted a lot of time doing various other things to get similar effects.
60,000 divided by tempo (bpm) then you can continue to divide that by 2 to go lower.
Fantastic trick and very nice explanation. Thank you!
ty so much. that is such a pro tip even though its an easy one.
one of the best reverb tutorials ive seen
It sounds really good and perfect with the calculated delay. But i dont think it has to end exactly where the next note starts...
Maybe as a rythm, yes.
Nice one! I already knew that trick, but it's cool to remind yourself about stuff from time to time!
this is key to making your sounds come alive!
Thanks! When do you choose to use no predelay though? Like would we always want to give it a delay? Also, do the echoes stop everytime the the chord hits again, regardless of decay time? Sorry lots of questions, I'm struggling with reverb. Thanks for your vid again!
did you ever get these answered old pal
Is testtone website down?
Nice explain
Pretty sick groove you're working with at 0:22 in. I really dig it, and would love to hear the finished track, so please feel free to point us to it!
This was an incredibly helpful video! Well done!
Hi, has the testTone site closed? If so is there an alternative? Thanks!
Just google "delay time calculator"
nickfever.com/music/delay-calculator
why the predelay time not deducted from the decay time?
Because there's one bar between each chord, you're right if the thing is to make some "sidechain" effect between the reverb and the kick but I think he only doesn't want to lush the reverb with the following chord.
If the decay = 1 bar, it will overlap by predelay time. Cuz it shifts the decay by that time.
arseniy milliseconds ARE tiny, so like at 60ms he'd only have to subtract .06 seconds so the difference would be minimal. But i do 100% agree with you. Imo for an exact, synced, value you should subtract the pre-delay from the decay.
Very helpful🌺
Great tutorial, very informative
Do you have any tutorials from Austin on drums??? And drum processing? His sound is thunderstorm...if so pls direct me to the purchase page...thank you!!
Try music math application on mac or PC for offline calculator
very useful, thanks for sharing!
reverb time = calculated delay time - predelay time
You are the best
Awesome
Super insightful thanks!

Dope tutorial
Great Video!
The site mentioned in the clip is, unfortunately, down.
This one works: nickfever.com/Music/delay-calculator
You song i great, it makes want to go to the club :) Thx for the tips btw
Never thought about this, thanks! this technique is not very used usually by people, right?
Leyendo RAP SUPREMO does it really matter if your reverb is on time with your track?
This is the question I had never thought about it..
yes...if you want a clean mix as much as possible...but you can break the rules !
it is actually used a lot by EDM proucer ,most of the time on drop..as it helps to keep everything "cleener"..especially if you sidechain the reverb too
This would work great for plucks, i believe.
What’s the difference between Vintage Verb and the regular Valhalla verb
That its vintage
Brian Griffin 2 years later I’m glad I found out it was vintage. Preciate you fam
@@XRXONE haha im just joking. glad youre still alive
Brian Griffin likewise lol
good man, thanks
thank you
Thanks!
how to calculate decay time thank you!
Thank you for that website
I need to find out if there's a software for calculating because my Mac can't handle wifi on and large projects at the same time
H - PAX music calculator app
just try with your phone:)
so what about the delay setting in logic channel
ThankU
I hope everyone likes the videos! Please let us know if you have any questions! Thank you! Austin
I went to the testtone site you mentioned but it isn't working. Can you post the link?
testtone.com/calculators/delay-time-calculator
Here's one I made: nickfever.com/music/delay-calculator
Make it a software plz
Would this work for vocals too ?
it works in everything ,but you have to use your ears too.sometimes it sounds nice on vocals sometimes not..:)
3:58
veffortless clutch
what is a bus ? and how is it used
a separate mixer track with the sound youre editing routed through it
Miles Coleman it's used for mixing multiple tasks with similar characteristics together as one track. but you don't have to use it for that reason. Say you want two vocals to have the same delay but you want to eq the vocals separately you could route vocals to the bus after the audio signal is processed through their individual eq.
shane bieda why not just copy n paste them?
Lil Saf why not? do that too. buses will keep your mix more consistent though. Think in terms of mastering as well
shane bieda cos i use ableton I'm used to just drag n drop effects and thats it.
Is it wrong tho to adjust by ear 👂
No its not wrong.its a matter of taste ..many producers do this by ear..it depends on the track ,what u want to achieve and what space you want to place your synths or vocal into:)
good theory but cant hear a thing going on the calculators results.sounds wrong
the site is shutdown any alternatives??????????????
tomhess.net/Tools/DelayCalculator.aspx
nickfever.com/music/delay-calculator
Test Tone site is gone.
Here's an alternative for you: nickfever.com/music/delay-calculator
Thanks a lot but testtone has been shut down. I found another cool online calculator on a website called tomhess.com.

God savior you saved me
Well I already do this anyway. So there.
I'm mathematical by nature. I don't just pick random numbers when I can instead choose times that have a relationship to the time of the track. Duh. Cool to see someone else does this.
I appreciate the lesson but have a solid plan about what youre explaining. 3 minutes in and you havent gotten to the point yet. okay hit play at 3:58
tommy thanks
Thanks
