I first saw the city from this perspective in the mid 90's. When the skyline came into view I said "I'm home". It took until 2015 to make it happen but I still can't get enough of these videos.
The Gardiner is a great drive. Few freeways feel as connected to the city as the Gardiner does.
I must agree! I hope they keep it instead of turning the freeway into a boulevard!
Toronto City Council has agreed to replace the eastern section of the Gardiner, and not tear it down. The latest is that they want to charge a small toll for the use of the highways now. Somewhere about $2 CDN per trip, tentatively starting in 2019.
Wow, the video is really nice! I have not been to Toronto. But I know about it 🇨🇦 I love The downtown area. I would really like to go there.
This is my dad's opinion, not mine.
The gardener expressway is hideous. It's junk amongst a beautiful city. They should turn it into a tunnel instead of a bridge.
A tunnel would be expensive, but the bridge deteriorates and you have to maintain it regularly, so the maintenance cost would add up to the cost of a tunnel.
Other than that, great video! I really loved how you showed the exits.
Thank you! I have to agree that a tunnel would be more aesthetically pleasing; however, I always felt that the elevated segment of the Gardiner Expressway is iconic to Toronto. It wouldn't feel the same without it, but that's just me being obsessed with roads!

cool road trip to downtown toronto!!!
Thanks!
Also apparently, in Mississauga, there are supposedly plans to build an immense new waterfront. Can't wait to see how that turns out.
Last time I was in Downtown Toronto a lot of those skyscrapers were not there or were just beginning construction, and that was just last earlier this year. I have to agree with you, Toronto keeps growing.
It's amazing how fast they go up!
Gardiner Expressway is a municipal expressway through downtown Toronto. Despite running parallel to the shore of Lake Ontario, it spans 18 km from an interchange near 427/QEW and ends near the Don Valley Parkway and Lake Shore Blvd.
Spadina is the most depressing exit lol i always hate looking at that old bridge on the intersection before coming to work
Yes I agree, Toronto is one of North America's best!
Yeeesss
it still was the right idea
drove these highways in my 300horse power gt 1966 mustang-iam in the fast lane
One more thing! There is always at least one guy in each of your videos with a taillight out. LOL!
cool video and like the intro :)
Thank you!
Traffic is good on this day
Hey! Nice intro!
selim8991 Thanks for helping me make it!

Glad you enjoyed it!

People try to compare Toronto with Chicago. Personally it feels more like Houston: 6 months of *€$tty weather, downtown's buildings connected with tunnels for pedestrians to avoid cars and said weather, major ship channel, generally flat due to coastal setting, major highways with 12-18 lanes, and most crucial element that makes Toronto like Houston=LOUSY DRIVERS!!!!!!!
Lakeshore Blvd. has a namesake in the Cleveland OH area ;)
