    In today's video, I give you 3 Pro level shooting tips plus a few awesome basketball shooting drills to help you instantly make more shots! These shooting secrets almost nobody knows about are super easy to implement for players at every level. By implementing these tips into your game you can almost immediately skyrocket your shooting percentage, and your overall basketball skill level!
    Alright lets get down to it the shooting secret almost nobody know about is what I refer to as the palm rotation. In traditional shooting instruction most shooting coaches teach you to shove your hand behind the ball the problem with this hand position is that it pretty much forces the rest of your mechanics to fall in line with the hand position. For most people having the hand behind the ball is really hard simply because it's uncomfortable to the vast majority of player, and it really can cause other thing to be out of wack when it comes to your shooting mechanics. People who shoot with their hand behind the basketball tend to miss a ton of shots because their ring finger pushes the ball off to the left. The great thing about the palm rotation is it allows you to shoot comfortably, and super straight because you are not forced to jam your shooting wrist behind the ball as soon as you coach. If we look at some of the most elite shooters in the NBA guys like Stephen Curry and James Harden both use the palm rotation when they shoot, and both are some of the straightest shooters in the NBA right now. With everything in shooting mechanics I always encourage all basketball players to see what works best for them comfort wise and what gets the best results. Certainly test out the palm rotation and see if it works for you and your jump shot.
    My second pro tip to help you instantly make more shots is keeping your guide hand soft of the basketball as you bring it up! This is something we see a lot of the best shooters in the world implement into their game guys like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. The number one reason why they rarely go into a shooting slump is because of their palm rotation they are always shooting the ball super straight which leads to a lot more made shots. So make sure when you are practicing the palm rotation make sure to keep your guide hand soft!
    Lastly I leave you with two elite shooting drills to make sure you are perfecting the palm rotation! These are two super awesome basketball shooting drills that will ultimately help you shoot the ball with better range and much better fluidity! Make sure you implement these drills and tips to really skyrocket your shooting, and your overall basketball skill level!

    Learning this was the thing that really brought all my practice together. It gave me a very consistent movement to my set point, stroke, and then how the ball came off my hand. This used to change the longer I shot and how far away I was, now it is always the same and if it isn't I usually know exactly what I did wrong.

(Rn im seeing how my form looks and it's already looking better than b4. I'll see how it looks at the court but I think im gonna see improvement )
    Edit: I tried it out and when I made my shots and rotated correctly it looked good. In a couple weeks I'll be consistent.

Kind of like two hand shooting but nope there's a rotation behind it. Thx for the tips. Im not excel at shooting but if I learn it prob can be a game changer.

  • @blakecarter4963
    @blakecarter4963 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    do you teach your players to shoot from one side of their body, as in after they load and jump do you tell them to release the ball from their shooting hand side of their head or straight in front of their face?

  • @boltup5566
    @boltup5566 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I get both schools of thought. I think palm rotation works more for people who shoot in front of their eyes. Palm behind the ball works for more for the matt bonner type where the shot is almost from the side of his head.
    Do you think palm rotation adds left or right misses? You have to rotate it the perfect amount so the hand ends uo square to the basket.

I broke my pinky 3 times and dislocated at the middle knuckle 3 times. 3 times playing basketball and three times doing tar Keon do. I had to pull it from out of its socket and put it back in. I never noticed it stuck out like that until a black belt practitioner during my 1st degree test pointed it out. It really helps when I shoot left handed. Do you have lessons on how to improve a shot using a non-dominant hand? Had to play left handed a while from a right wrist injury, falling on ice. Honestly
    Your aim is what matters the most
    All you need is power and precision and you've cracked basketball
    Power and precision go hand in hand
    Without power, shots won't reach the rim and precision will be useless
    Without precision, shots would mostly just rebound
