Had my Drotto put on when I winterized my boat (Minnesota) last fall. Took it out the other day (late April) and the Drotto worked like a charm. Launched and recovered the boat several times without a hitch. Also, without waders, knee boots or wet feet. A really shallow launch might necessitate the old fashion "crank 'er up" method, but I'm sold on the Drotto.

Just bought a new boat/trailer today and included the Drotto on my purchase contract. Looking forward to getting the boat after ice out next spring and putting the Drotto to good use!

Enjoyed the information you shared on this video. I'm retired also and have taken up fishing and just enjoy being on the fresh water so far. In the future plan to but a bay boat for fun.

once the latch system finds the correct angle with the boat attached then you need to tighten the bolt/nut to keep it that way

Thank You. I had someone else tell me that and remembered the directions said to tighten after a loose fitting. Wish I knew how to make a disclaimer on the video. Thanks for your comment.

Curious how it does on fiberglass, like a skiff? does it mark or scratch the keel?

You have to pack your trailer further in the water

Wow! You do not need that much throttle and speed. You're washing out the ramp, not to mention how dangerous that is. If you slightly missed or the latch didn't grab, you'd drive that boat over the front of the trailer.

What size model did you go with ?

I had to use the small to fit the space I had on the trailer where it holds the roller. My only concern was that I fish in salt water. I emailed the owner of the company and he said since it doesn't go in the water, I shouldn't have a problem.

Seems like the same about of effort as it would be without one of those latches

I installed the drotto 7 years ago and it is one of the best accessories I could have ever bought. I load and unload almost always by myself and it makes it so easy. No more reaching over my MinnKota to hook up the straps. Just hear the "click" and drive up the ramp.

Its probably a good product but unfortunately it forces you to power load your boat and that ruins most boat ramps over time due to prop wash. alot of public boat ramps have signs that say no power loading but most people ignore it.

One thing I would of done differently is that I would of started it first before releasing it from the latch.
