I'm chuckling that you are amazed at border collies herding sheep. Here in the UK, this is exactly how sheep are herded every day on every sheep farm, no matte how humble. I found it very interesting but kept listening for a Scottish accent :/

My hubs and I are on the train now heading home from our first visit to Scotland! We've been there for the past 3 days and are already planning our next trip lol We ate at the same pub you guys did in your "what to eat" video and also tried haggis for the first time. It was delicious!!

we actually did a little Highland trip to do a whisky distillery tour! that was a ton of fun. the way the GPS took us was very off the beaten path so we got to see the wide open spaces. we didn't know before coming that Scotland is pretty volcanic and it's pretty evident the route we took. it looks very much like the big island of Hawaii. recently i bought an ancestry.com worldwide subscription and found out where my ancestors came from in Scotland, so that's pretty high up on the "places to visit" list :)
Oh how cool! We have to get up soon, dangit! Ya...we're thinking that we should probably do the ancestry thing... It's pretty amazing to get to see areas where your family came from :)
it really is! my whole life, my dad always told us kids about what our ancestry was and stuff....turns out he was only partly right haha but it's still cool. i'm looking into my maternal grandfathers side now. we know next to nothing, so it'll be fun to figure out. we've been doing my husbands family tree also and found out that they came from a village(in england) that is about 2 hours from where we are living now. so we'll be checking that out for sure!
Great video. Suprised you would see this in America actually and it looked brilliant too. If you go back to Scotland do the tourist route up Ben Nevis, on a clear day views are so good. At least get out of the cities a bit and check out the highlands it's such a beautiful place.

Every summer there are Scottish Highland Games here in Alaska, we've never gone, but this video makes us definitely want to check it out when it happens this year! Also, thanks a lot, now I'm craving fish sticks! :)

Those guys you video taped in the viking reenactment are actually pretty famous. Dave Kilbourn and Matt Poitras. They have a full length documentary film about them and the modern vikings entitled "To go Viking" It's awesome!
I really find it hilarious that there are scottish highland games in America. they are also much much bigger than any highland games I have ever been to in Scotland.

I thought haggis was illegal in the US because it contains types of offal which are deemed unfit for human consumption. Maybe it's only certain states which ban it? I definitely remember hearing about people smuggling haggises (haggi?) over the border from Canada for Burns Night celebrations.
i was working on a national nature reserve called lullington heath in east sussex. come down some day happy to act as native guide. its super pretty.better yet come for jack in the green in Hastings.

If you guys are ever in Yorkshire again, go to Skipton (great castle there), there is a butchers that sells the best scotch eggs and pork pies I've ever tasted (apart from my Mums). You can sit by the canal and eat and then walk around the castle.
That Scotch egg was way overcooked, the yolk should be slightly soft and the breading looked burnt, what is it with Texans that anything fried should be black

Believe it or not The Scottish do eat scotch eggs! Yes i was born in the North East of England, however, i studied at Edinburgh uni for 3 years with many Scots. Also i have true Scottish heritage!
As a Scottish person, I can categorically say that we do eat scotch eggs. If the Scots in your family don't eat them simply because they originated in England then they're bigoted mouth breathers.

I was surprised that they used 'real' metal weapons for the viking fights. I've seen these before, but always with fake weapons ... wild!
