When I received my Aven card in the mail after the approval process, the moblie app tried to force me to make an 80% of the loan bank transfer in order to activate the card. If I had have done this, I would've immediately been on the hook for a 2.5% bank transfer fee AND finance charges for the 80% balance per month. The language in the contract attempts to take away your option to initially use the card purely as a secured Visa card, where you're only responsible for the credit you actually use like in the case of unsecured credit cards. Before you activate that card, MAKE DAMN SURE you talk to a representative and tell them you do NOT want to do a bank transfer for activation. The language of the marketing (like in this video) is that a bank transfer is OPTIONAL, but when it comes to the initial activation of the card, Aven attempts to make a bank transfer MANDATORY. You do NOT want to be on the hook for a sizable loan balance right out the gate.
@gplay1349 YES. And they are very aggressive with their tactics. Another thing they'll try to bully you into doing is applying additional insurance for the loan. If you want to that, be my guest, but it's not mandatory. After going several rounds with them, I have my Aven card set up as a secured Visa card, where I'm only responsible for the credit I use, and I opted against the insurance because that is what works for me. It became obvious to me that the people advertising this product on this forum are not giving an unbiased opinion of the product, which is why I felt compelled to speak out. The Aven Card can be a good tool, and I do understand the potential for abuse on the part of the borrower. They just need to do a better job of vetting the people they invite to use the service instead of relying on bait and switch tactics to protect their interests.
AVEN - This was an awesome breakdown. Thank you so much! I recently got an Aven card and I use it primarily for travel. I love being able to pay for all expenses - flights for a family of 5, hotel, Uber, food, and excursions - on ONE card. Large limit was definitely a plus!
Awsome so the card has definitely been good for travel? I was just sent a offer today for it. Want to use it for the same thing. Was wondering if it was worth having in my wallet
Even with a 800 credit score you will see this for ever "Thank you for submitting your information. It looks like we need to review it manually, and we will contact you within a few days."
“Aven.” 😊 I have gotten multiple mailers for this card. It’s intriguing and it also freaks me out since it would be tied to my home LOL… I’m okay without it for now, but might consider if we had a major home project to complete.
Hey Leo, unfortunately no and I'm not sure why. I reached out to them to verify and these are the states where the card is available: AL, AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, FL, IA, IL, KS, KY, LA, ME, MI, MN, MS, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TN, UT, VA, WI, WY.
What does a person do about canceling a credit card without taking a hit on your credit report. I have 2 that refuse to raise my limit when all my other cards have increased my limit at least once. These two cards charge a monthly maintenance Plus an annual fee. 😡🤬
You can see if they offer other cards that you can convert to. That keeps the start date for average credit age. Even if it means taking a lower amount.. getting out of the fees is more important than utilization rates over time. It's a temporary hit rather than a permanent one.
Bilt says rent right next to it in the title why doesn't this card say home owners in the title? I've accidently watched a couple of videos on this card. Sorry for complaining. Just my 2 cents. Other than that good review as usual.
hi dayana! love the vids! i’ve seen you do a review on the paypal credit card and wanted to hear your thoughts on this. so any sub is better than no sub but do you think "apply and get accepted and earn 50,000 or $50 back" is a good sub or should i wait it out for a bigger one hopefully? i don't have to spend any money for it which is nice but in case there's a spend $1500 and get $200 back type of sub. (i believe it's a targeted sub but could be wrong)
I actually don't have this card. I just shared my honest thoughts for those thinking about getting it. It's important to be informed on how the card works, pros & cons, etc. 😊

Thanks ! , if you do that transfer, apart of the 2.5% fee it will be like you took that money ? So you gotta start paying back right way?

"Honest Review" needs to be from someone who actually has one. Hands on experience imo. Good recap though of all the info on the website.

I heard that Aven doesn’t have a direct phone number or address, only a chat bot. Do you know if this is true?
Would you happen to know when Aven will come to Texas?
Hey, honestly no. But I'm assuming soon.

I've never heard of monthly maintenance fees for a credit card. May I ask which one charge this fee. Thanks
Great Video

Thank you! 💛 Do you mean on the title of the video or the Aven card's website?
Tengo una pregunta como hago para que no me quiten dinero de las tarjetas por no usarlas?
You have great “rap hands.” ✋😎🤚🎶🎶🎶
They can’t contain themselves! 😂
If homeowner I'd a requirement why do they keep sending me offers in the mail
That's a great question that I don't have the answer to. 😂
