This horse seems to have had a cramp in the back leg from the way he kicks out. Its hard on them to stand for so long and then having to stand on a brick area plus in fecal material. Glad someone came and tried to clean that up. His rider did a good job keeping himself and horse calm .

Diana, they are on duty 1 hour at a time, and horse's spend most of their time standing, in a field, stable, horse box and they sleep standing up. You very rarely see a horse laying down.

I have seen many horses sleeping completely relaxed in a meadow - when they feel safe. Although this approach is part of English culture, it is not necessarily animal-friendly.

They are very highly trained horses and are loved by everyone who works with them. The Guards work with their horses. I would be unhappy if I saw all these tourists every day, especially the stupid ones that have no idea these horses and Guards are on full duty. Not a tourist attraction.
I have noticed several times that when a horse is particularly spooked there is a lot of horse poo in the box.Perhaps they just don't like standing in it. And as I typed that the poo was swept up.

The only reason most horses care less about horse shit is that it can be slippy. They’re only up there for an hour after all. This horse looks to me like he got bitten or maybe got a spiderweb tangled on his hind leg.(some horses HATE spider webs) He’s kicking out like there’s something on him, not like he’s in pain. If he was in pain he’d be holding the foot up, but he’s not, he’s standing and walking on it just fine. It’s just irritated. He might have a tummy upset too, but generally in those cases they kick closer in, rather than out like he’s trying to get something off as he’s doing, but a mild colic is also possible. Actually I’m watching this repeatedly to see exactly what he’s doing and the more I see, the more I’m tending towards a mild colic. Fact is tho, it’s pretty much impossible to say without actually looking at him and going over all his limbs and listening to his belly.

These horses are so beautiful that I don't think people want to leave without a stroke or a tickle, and of course a photograph. The barriers of a couple of days ago would save so much angst in both the horses and their guards, and images are easy with today's zoom lenses.

This poor horse was in pain. He kept kicking his back right leg up and out. Something could have been stuck in his shoe, or his hip was hurting. He needed to go back to the barn and have the veterinarian check him out. I prescribe a day off and a Vet check.

Tourists shouldn't be allowed to touch and pet the horses AT ALL. Isn't it enough to have their picture taken close to the horses? All that talking, laughing, kids crying may contribute to get the horses nervous. What is worse, most idiots don't have common sense and stand behind the or of control horse!! In a situation like this, the horse should return to the stable, right away, you see he is very excited.

It's a public street in Whitehall under Westminster council not MOD , plus any form of barrier would be potentially dangerous for horse and Trooper .

This poor horse was in pain. He kept kicking his back right leg up and out. Something could have been stuck in his shoe, or his hip was hurting. He needed to go back to the barn and have the veterinarian check him out. I prescribe a day off and a Vet check.

Tourists shouldn't be allowed to touch and pet the horses AT ALL. Isn't it enough to have their picture taken close to the horses? While the police and guards were trying to calm the horse down I was listening to people speaking loudly in different languages; some wouldn't stop the yada yada yada. All that talking, laughing, kids crying may contribute to get the horses nervous. What is worse, most idiots don't have common sense and stand behind the or of control horse!! That horse was polite and letting them know he was ready to kick their butts; however, people chose to ignore the signals.
The horse is obviously uncomfortable. To keep trying to put him back in the cubicle is counterproductive. He needs to be replaced and seen by a vet.

Bei den Sporen würde ich als Pferd auch irgendwann austicken...stellt es einfach mal wieder in den Stall mit einer guten Portion Heu ..so kann es sich wieder beruhigen ...das Pferd zeigt stark deutlich Unbehagen .Schweifschlagen / Hinterhand aufstampfen, dazu , soweit ich das erkennen konnte , Nässe unter den Pferdeäpfeln..Stress ( Durchfall )
