I’m in Australia, we have “socialised healthcare” aka Medicare for all. Each financial year I pay $400 AUD / $250USD ish thru taxes for decent healthcare with a few great extras. Don’t be fooled by what Trump and Biden tell you about “socialised” healthcare.
So agree with you. I'm Aussie too. Remember, we also have 'Medicare', because 'it is the right thing to do'; to look after our fellow citizens!

TL;DR is, Obamacare backfired in a few critical ways, and they want to try a new approach. Here's the long version: a lot of normal healthy people saw their heal insurance premiums skyrocket due to the rapid shift in the type of policy and the coverage it provided. A lot of people had HMOs and PPOs, but Obamacare implemented and switched a lot of people over to what are called EPOs. These plans cost a lot more, but tend to cover significantly less than their counterparts for people who don't have preexisting conditions- for some, cost of healthcare doubled or even tripled. While it was well-intentioned, Obamacare's sub-optimal design played right into the hands of a complacent healthcare industry. From the work this administration has done in other sectors like international trade and advanced nuclear energy, I'd guess they wanna give Big Healthcare a run for their money, make 'em actually work for a living for the first time in years.
Y'know, despite all the gaffs and bad press (not gonna contest it, Doofus Drumpf's an ass and a loony cheerleader with no routine, no sugarcoating it), this administration's been pretty good about whipping lazy industries into shape and streamlining processes. Healthcare's a whole other rodeo, but I think they could at least make some kind of a dent.
Because we need something smarter, both economically and politically. It must take care of people for the long run and be indisputable. This country would run much better without our current 2 party dictatorship.

i worked in a health insurance sale outsourcing co., and i can say, obamacare was going to destroy usa economy, i also heard a lot of story's from clients that i dont believe to much, same as i dont trust to much in this woman

I saw Trump claim his plan is better than Obamacare without producing any facts. I saw a moderator list how Obamacare already provides all the protections Trump claims to have in his vaporware plan. I saw Trump trying to eliminate Obamacare while replacing it with something that does the same thing and NOT justifying why he trying to remove Obamacare or at least state what specifically he will change. Those failures and gaps are the proper reasons to avoid Trump. If you are turned off by the media holding Trump to task, you are just being partisan and political.

The Republicans seized on the mandate, knowing that it was the most unpopular aspect and that undermining it would drive up premiums for everyone who really needed the insurance.
