"I'm German, I need to complain about something..."
Classic Emmanuel.
I love how WT's G1000 is good enough for 3rd parties to make planes like this with it. The attention to detail looks awesome! I like how the screens dim as you engage the starter motor.
Also, that taxi speed was FAST. My instructor would have white knuckles if I taxiied that quickly. The speed may also contribute to your loss of steering control. If the DA-42's nosewheel steering is similar to the Warriors I fly, then it would be pretty ineffective at higher speeds. Like, I know if I need to make a quick exit on rollout in a Warrior, I usually need some differential braking to make the turn. I'm happy to see realistic taxi physics in this sim.
I’m German I gotta complain about something😂
😂😂😂
Sorry but I am offended by your remark Emanuel. I’m French and this is OUR thing. So please don’t steal our national treasure.
@@b777200lrf the Diamond is not french is it ? It's an austrian manufacturer ??
No, of course. But complaining is definitely French 😂.
But you would just go on strike about it, us Germans would only complain 😂 @@b777200lrf
I love how you bring as many real life procedures into the sim as possible. That "transponder off" really cracked me up and reminded me of the times I used it 😂
Thank you!
Glad you enjoy the plane
Crosswind behaviour has been improved since the version you got and ill take a look at the dont sink warnings.
Excellent! You really have a winner on hand here, I can't wait to see what it'll look like after the first couple of updates. Not that it would need many, there's really not too many things I could complain about! Take that from a German, that means something! ;-)
The moment the “don’t sink, don’t sink bug” is gone, I will purchase the aircraft.
@@benvanboom8907 haha. its been fixed
Having flown a DA-40 I can tell you it's an incredibly stable aircraft. On my checkout flight, I literally struggled to stall it. I absolutely love flying Diamonds.
hahaha, struggling to stall something is always a good sign, isn't it? :D
@@A330Driver that’s the best problem to have haha!
Having done my MEP, CPL and IR in this aircraft, I can tell you it’s incredibly accurate. The taxiing is notoriously difficult and having to fully deflect one rudder pedal to maintain the centre line is not uncommon. 100% getting this!
Excellent, thank you!
The touch spot for testing both ECUs is between both buttons, just under where it says "ECU TEST". This runs both tests at the same time (so yo don't have to do it one after another)
Maaaan this looks so cool. I got my CMEL and MEI in a twin comanche but instructed in some 42s. I fly big bois now but always have fond memories of this bird.
Looks great ! 🎉 Maybe you could also test the new Tecnam P-2006T ANALOG....
Do you have a link to it?
Ah, this takes me back! I did my ME/IR in a DA42 at EGBE back in 2008. Good and bad memories 😂.
Omg I heard about this story with the gear warning alarm !! I've got my mep test on the 42 next week !!
Good luck! I'm sure you'll nail it! On which plane will your check be?
DA42 G-VVTV@@A330Driver
This is so cool. Its such an interesting looking aircraft. I see these a lot flying over my house quite regularly here in Scotland. Looking forward to flying this one actually! A fantastic preview and in depth look as always 😁
Thank you so much!
Really enjoyed this and have been looking forward to adding this to my collection. Wish the interior was all black. Interestingly both engines come from the Mercedes A Class! Visibility is ridiculous! Keep up the great content!
I love the Diamond aircraft! Been flying them in xplane forever. I am looking forward to this. I hope it is really good.
Thanks for flying and for your feedback
Too bad that you were recovering so quickly when you did the power off stall test. I was really curious if this has the same stall characteristics as the DA40. The awesome thing about the wing design is, that the nose won't drop and you won't spin when you keep the back pressure on the stick.
But did you notice how the rain in the distance is actually bending more because it is windy? When there is less wind it will not be as curved. What an amazing detail to simulate.
Did my CPL IR on this bad boy, such a good trainer aircraft
Great review as usual. I think I will buy this one.
Thank you so much! I'm sure you'll love it!
thanks I like your videos full of information
I like the “inverted approach” test. If you can make it down to minimums, you know she’s a dandy aircraft. The PMDG 737 can do it, although it isn’t exactly a walk in the park.
Just like in the real world, flying it down to minimum can be done, but certainly isn't a walk in the park. Especially when the weather starts getting fancy. However every IFR rated pilot should be able to manually fly a plane down to the minimums.
@@A330Driver I fear you missed the "Inverted" nature of the approach. I find the roll to upright at minimums is the most difficult of the approach, especially when flying big iron. Don't you ever get the urge to do a barrel roll just to break up the monotony of a long flight?
I just had a thought...
If the P 38 lightning had a child this would be the result..
Put a 40 mm gun and and a two sidewinders and you're all set!!
I really enjoy the default DA62 despite its obvious limitations so when I saw this was coming out a few months back I got a bit excited, i can't deny. Will be a day 1 purchase for me and I really hope COWS continue and build a DA62 to the same quality and study level.
I believe their target is to build those planes which students might fly in flightschool. I believe a DA20 is more likely than a DA62. That's just an uneducated guess though.
@@A330DriverI really hope for a DA20. The sim solutions one is great and made by someone who went to my flight school but I'm just itching for an overwhelmingly study level da20
Ty very much for that video. I still have the aerobask DA42 in XPlane, but this one here seems to represent another level. The sounds, flight model - real pilots approved. Cool!
Only thing, another G1000 aircraft….
The vfr map - navigraph as well? I don‘t have a subscription yet.
Micke Lang has some amazing VLOGs about these Diamonds, awesome ferry flights
I gotta check him out, thanks!
got my multi in a da42 so ill pick this up on day 1. Haven't flown one in almost 2 years so this'll be fun to fly.
Let me know how you like it! I really enjoyed it!
Going to get my MEI in a DA42, this came at a really good time.
You'll love it! Flight Simming really made my training easier back in the day and I am sure the same will apply to you as well!
Great video. A nice VFR flight as well not just an review.
Thank you! I'll have an IFR one come up today as well!
my dream plane!
nice flying ! Thank you!
Great video. Thanx.
nice, I trained in this machine in my student time
Seher schön flugzeug mein freund!, und seher gute präsentation! @A330 driver
The plane looks excellent. I hope they'll bring it to the marketplace and Xbox eventually.
They will. I have talked to them and it's coming but expect to wait for many more weeks the Wait-list is completely full.
It will release in the marketplace likely on the release date. Orbx handles these releases to the marketplace.
@@BorisAudioWorks Hi but in that case they have to release it Tonight or Next Friday because the DA42 comes out on Saturday and The marketplace only changes on Friday
I would love to see wingflex on this DA42.
Do the real planes wings even flex?
I really enjoyed watching this video and looking forward to your future videos on it. You mentioned something about systems. Also, I wonder if you could give us some multi engine training on it like engine out and emergency decent. Another thing that I would like to ask have you checked X-Plane 12 Cessna 172ng digital flight sim? It is supposed to be study level. It's pretty cool.
Hi, I just bought the da42, what setting are you using for yoke sensitivity, mine is difficult to trim ! 😅
Definitely a nice model but I did prefer the PA44 for the MEP. More rewarding to fly imo.
I felt similar back in the day - but having a DA42 for the sim at this level is really exciting now!
Glass cockpit I love for flying IFR IRL since I always want the best awareness and safety for me and my loved ones, but for flight simming its boring me to death.
Great review. I'm in
Do we know what price it'll be when released?
Release is tomorrow, I don't think the price has been confirmed yet.
@@A330Driver Thanks! Excited to get the plane myself!

You did not just make this joke 😂
😂
I fly this plane everyday irl. It does look very realistic
Awesome, let me know how you like it once it's actually released!
Are you an instructor on the DA-42 or how come you fly it everyday?
@@A330Driver I’m a check airmen for a university that has a couple of this in the fleet. Very fun aircraft to fly and a headache to maintain lol. This week alone there was an AD that grounded a huge chunk of DA42s due to some engine related maintenance. Fun times
as a Hungarian I have to say , I don't like another glass panel but I did like this video and watched the whole thing just the same.
Why don't you like another glass cockpit though? Personally I'm rather happy to see these modern cockpits in general aviation aircraft since there are not many high end GAs that feature one. I would kill for having airplanes like the G3000 equipped King Air in a Black Square style simulation.
@@A330Driver allright I just feel there are too many airplanes with glass panels.
Questions:
1 Where and when can we get this?
2 IRL, are the back doors lockable? (child-lock)
Hi, should be out tomorrow via ORBX, possibly on marketplace as well.
I didn't check if the aft door is lockable, but if you go to Diamonds website you can download the real POH of the plane. The info should be somewhere in the systems chapter of the manual.
@@A330Driver thank you for the reply! This Chanel is absolute gold for aviation and sim enthusiasts.
Hmm, no interface for loading, settings, maintenance? Like a tablet or something.
What airfield was you using for your flight test I don’t know whether I missed you saying
Can you do a complete vfr tutorial series which you would fly in vatsim with such aircraft like this
The problem with that would be that VFR is done differently in every country. I could cover how it's done in Germany, but if you tried to use the same procedures elsewhere people would just look strange at you. I have flown VFR abroad a little and it was amazing how much work I had to put into it just to get used to their procedures.
Well maybe you can do the Germany explaining the basics and how it went for you back in your flight training. I would love to see that. If you have time to do it ofc@@A330Driver
@@A330Driver Oh, thinking back to my first VFR flight in the UK... Basic Service, Deconfliction Service.... And different airspaces... :o)
Looks good, nice details, I like the scenery too. Is it default or East Frisian Islands by Stairport or something else?
It's Westerland Sylt (EDXW) by FSDG. Thank you!
@@A330Driver thanks, always nice to fly to an island
It certainly is! And it's the only German island airport large enough to take airliners - which actually regularly fly there during summer!@@casaamaril
8 wish I knew if it would accept a flight plan from msfs ..without paying navigraph😊
You only need navigraph for simbrief and chart integration, the flightplan functionality works completly without it, just like in any G1000 in the sim.
What is your opinion on the sound set?
I know the DA62 is a different aircraft, more power, more pax and so on.
My question is, is this DA42 much better compared to the default DA62 regarding flight dynamic?
I would say so, yes. It just has that correct feel to it. You can really see that the people who designed the plane knew what they were doing and had great experience on the real one.
Thanks for the feedback!@@A330Driver
"stall ht fail" is same logic as pitot - the heater, not stall indicator. you can found the stuff that turning that thing on. so that light warning about doesn't heater was turned on for that thing... i remember that from other model, have no idea about real aircraft:)... that's strange, because after got some speed that w-light go out:) one of models modeling that thing wrong lol
When does this release?
It was released on Saturday already
Its gonna sell on what platforms? Only marketplace?
ORBX will sell it as well.
I’m buying this when it’s available.
From what I’m seeing, the flight model is fantastic and that’s what I like.
I can live without gimmicks if the sounds, visuals and flight model are great.
For example, the FSR500 has all the gimmicks and visuals, but I think the flight model is just awful. Hits the numbers, but doesn’t fly well at all.
It's coming tomorrow! I'm sure you will love it!
What do you mean with the FSR500 not flying well? What do you dislike in particular?
@@A330Driver it’s very twitchy, even with my long throw yoke, and doesn’t have the fluid feel of flight, like some other premium airplanes do in the simulator. The “floating” feel.
The C414, SWS PC12, TBM 850 all have a realistic feeling flight model.
Hello, i love it ! thank's for you vidéo. Date for update?
For the release you mean? Tomorrow!
yes ! ok wonderful @@A330Driver
I'm taking a PPL and I'm really looking forward to it.@@A330Driver
ok thank's it' a very very good palne
Seems very nice. Would this compare pretty closely to the Piper Seminole IRL? If so then I guess this would be up against the Carenado Seminole. Do you have thoughts on which add-on you'd chose of the two? MSFS already comes with the DA-62 so this feels quite similar, but I guess this is smaller, and has more features modelled, whereas the sim doesn't have any Pipers at all.
Well, it's been a while since I've flown the Seminole. Obviously they are somewhat similar in that they both fly like MEPs fly, but then again they are quite different aircraft types as well.
I never liked Carenado aircraft, I got myself their Seminole back in the day as well and been rather disappointed with it. I rather stick to the study level stuff I can get and learn how to use that properly.
@@A330Driver I've always thought Carenado planes were medium-high quality in visuals and sounds, but were you disappointed in terms of flight model? Or is it mainly that you want faults and failures? For me, a good flight model is very important, but faults and failures are more of a bonus (as I'm not an actual pilot or planning to study to become one).
gonna watch it this evening after work but i woud like to know if its at least a high fidelity aircraft ?
You bet it is!
@@A330Driver i don't think there is wear and tear though. ? i think the dev told in the discord that it will only have random failure. I dont know if you can have failures based on pilots actions ?
@@CMBelite-FR Wear and tear isn't part of study level or high fidelity simulation though, otherwise Fenix and PMDG wouldn't be study level or high fidelity either, right?
Let's be honest here: The only wear and tear a flight simmer could reasonably expect from the hours he'll do in a simulated plane will be the strain on the gear from the landings 😂
No offense intended of course, but it'll need a couple thousand hours for a plane to really build up wear that could lead to anything noticable in terms of the systems failing.
@@A330Driver yes agreed but for me I like how A2A did their comanche, You can buy a new plane so with 0.0 hr on the engines and airframe or simulated like you have rent or bought a plane that have been used and you start with 2000+ hours. And depending on the engine age, the start up, fuel consumption... will vary. You can also have an option to increase the rate of wear and tear so like 1hr = 10hr For me so far nothing beats the A2A comanche in terms of physics, modelisation of the systems and features, theCOWS DA42 comes second imo.
Regarding the landing rate, i have no issues making soft landing within the LDZ ;)
no not correct. any flight sim program simuiates from the pilot pov, right ? its not a maintenance simulator. A pilot does not do maintenance on his airbus or 737 so is perfectly fine there is no wear and tear on tubes. the Da42 must be a great aircraft, never any sort of maintenance. i am impressed. @@A330Driver
When will people possible to purchase this aircraft? Who is the developer? Thank you very much
How does this compare with the aerobaak version for xplane?
I haven't used that one, but in an interview a while ago the developers said one of their motivations for creating the product was that there was no decent version available for any sim. I suppose that includes a statement regarding the competition ;-)
10:45 holy shit fuck glass cockpits
Hi Emanuel! Can you make a "how to fly traffic pattern with an A320 and prepare the MCDU for it" Video? I would be happy :D
Hi, I did a vid on how to fly patterns with it already, preparing the MCDU is easy: Just do a normal setup, but only select the runways, no SID or STAR. Also do the descent prep as well while on the ground so that you only need to activate the approach phase in the air.
@@A330Driver Okay danke :)
2 days left.....
Vid was recorded yesterday, there were just some unsolved questions which needed to be settled before releasing it.
I wish I knew if the ap worked.
It does
Any reason why they didn’t model the 42s engine page ?
None I would be aware of. Join their discord and ask them directly.
Diamond took everything about the DA62 and made it better. Wait, they took the DA42 and made everything worse.
