How is it that games over 20 years old feel more alive than ever, while modern ones are already fading into obscurity? Those older games were created during a perfect window of time when they were seen as a quirky niche, something so insignificant that big companies didn’t even consider them a threat. This lack of corporate oversight gave developers the freedom to create whatever they wanted, resulting in experiences that were often bold, unique, and deeply personal.
There's a lot that goes into that, the discussion about older games and gaming in general is multi-layered, however what was indeed much more present in the past overall was a sense of self-expression through experimentation. This still exists now, it never really goes away, but only in the indie realm 😃 Thanks for watching!
There weren't anywhere near as many options back when Diablo came out. These days you can comfortably game on giveaways and freebies. Don't have to pay a dime. There's a ton of games out there and you don't have to go to the store to buy it.
Wait, how long has the class that had used guns been in this mod?! I've been playing it off and on for a year or so and never knew that haha, just so many classes. So far have mostly just played a Demonologist and Sharpshooter. Game is hard as balls though 🤣So anyone who tries it, you'll have fun or get easily frustrated, or in my case, both.
I dunno when it was added but you should also know it's a Game Changer not a proper sub-class, you'll find it as the last Game Changer for Warrior>Guardian 😉 Thanks for watching!
It is not compatible with other mods. I do not think it runs on the console version of Diablo, but I am not sure. It's not something I normally check for since I am PC human 😃 Thanks for watching!
@ i view devX rather as a portable oss engine. Pretty much Like stratagus to starcraft1 and warcraft1..2. And they claim themselves as a foundation for other mods. So i’ve asked. No search results confirming the compatibility so far. So i guess D1 is not getting those goodies on exotic platforms and on gnu-linux in general. Just as you’ve said.
@ so far it has failed to run on my steamdeck witn proton9. Stuck on the intro video, not even reaching the menu. The very same files work ok on my windows laptop. Sharing these results just in case.
Blunt weapons being better against undead and bladed weapons against demons is already present in normal D1. Axes being the middle point and equally useful. I want to like Hell 3, but it messes with the atmosphere and that's a huge dealbreaker for me.
Huh, never noticed any special mentions about weapons in relation to their anti-undead or anti-demonnessness... Like I say at the end, this isn't about the atmosphere, nor story, it's about just having insane fun IF you find what I describe fun, which I do!
I don't remember it being mentioned anywhere in-game, but it is a mechanic present in D1. But I told a lie. Bladed weapons are more effective against "animal" enemies, demons get smacked by all things equally well. Either way, there is a reason that warrior starts with a sword AND a club.
OMG... yes A sword AND A CLUB...for the warrior I never ever even questioned it... I dismissed that piece of wood every single time. What else have i been blind to in D1 for these last 27 years?
@@boonycutzu You can really feel it at low levels, a mace will do great against the undead but the same DMG on The Butcher results in new players getting ganked. It gives you a false sense of security.
Can you equip the armor and have your skin change like in Diablo 1 with heavier armors? for example "gothic plate" gives you the appearance of a knight, but in this game all I see is cloth type armor? Also their is a quest for a "special weapon" which I was wondering if you could elaborate on since I haven't gotten it yet? This is definitely the best mod I have ever played and I thought Devilution was amazing.
I don't think your skin changes tbh but that may be subclass-specific to the ones I played, and I played mostly Necro. As for the quest question the only certain quest weapon you get is from the Anvil of Fury quest, otherwise most other quests have a "random magic item" as their reward. Thanks for watching!
I covered Belzebub a long-long time ago as well 😁 th-cam.com/video/rEee4v4h0RE/w-d-xo.html But to be honest I did not really miss playing it on much higher res than the mod allows for to begin with. Thanks for watching!
Interesting, but why he doesnt want to create his own game, instead of pushing last pixels from the reverse engine. I still play sometimes Diablo 1 and 2, but I didnt liked Hell mod at the beginning. He definitely have to look at the Unreal Engine , and "PhoenixMarket" youtube Diablo channel.
Doing smth from scratch, even with the engines of today, is a much more difficult and daunting task than working with already existing mechanics and assets. Also, it is possible the person will eventually graduate to smth else. Oftentimes, modding is a gateway into more advanced development. But also, maybe you just want to make mods cause that's what you prefer. To each their own, really 😀 Thanks for watching!
Hope it's better balanced than Hell 2. Item drops were unwearable but my character also not equipped well enough... Turned out you absolutely had to strat into the leveling up perk only, eliminating most of the roleplaying aspect.
This one seems to be more focused on getting basic items and enchanting them. Most of the things I use, I buy from Griswold and then enchant. It's not an efficient way of doing it, but I like it - you do have to invest in perks and synergies that boost money drops though :)) And then to what you described, there's a Game Changer that will cause no items to drop for your class and you have to buy everything. I think that's fun, but I'm weird like that 😉 Thanks for watching!
Lots of people talking about the feel of the game and it being ruined due to making the game convoluted. I get you guys, but I want convolution and big mechanics out of my ARPGs: I want to play with 8 friends and that every single one of them gets a unique character that has its own way of play, to carefully build 3-4 chars to switch when the gang needs this or that, and to exchange cool loot among my raving band of demonhunters (" I got a sword of +5 strenght that I don't need anymore" give it to my nephew that just started playing, negotiate on who gets the king's stone or the jade bow of the phoenix, all that) which I can't recall.if either The Hell 2 or Belzebub did not have (both are great mods, don't get me wrong, but trading is a must for me and my friends)
While I see the potential of this mod I think it's too bloated and contrived. Especially with all those stupid and out-of-place classes. And with the guns.... Just no!
There's also The Hell 2 and 1 and they have less stuff in them. Personally, I obviously love all the weird classes, but like I say at the end, it's a subjective taste thing. You either like this approach or you don't, either are equally valid. Thanks for watching!
@inthefade I do my best to make it clear it's a really different game and you're either into it or not, it's that simple at the end of the day 🤷♂️ Thanks for watching!
The hell 2 was exactly this, change for the sake of change, trying to reinvent the wheel and to many conflicting ideas, had an awful time with it and wouldn’t recommend anyone waste their time with it.
Ah well, though I have played a really cool D2 mod as well, Median XL and I got a lot of crap when I said it's better than paying for Resurrected so D2 is more of a mine field 😁Thanks for watching this one though!
It's defo different, seeing as I covered it many years back as well th-cam.com/video/rEee4v4h0RE/w-d-xo.html As to whether it's better, that's a subjective thing. Thanks for watching!

Yes thats why I prefer well made indie games these days they have similar vibes.
There weren't anywhere near as many options back when Diablo came out. These days you can comfortably game on giveaways and freebies. Don't have to pay a dime. There's a ton of games out there and you don't have to go to the store to buy it.
Never would I have believed to live enough to see a gunslinger in Diablo. Wow! :)
It's the current sub-subclass I play when it start it up. It's super fun afaic!
Which one exactly? Unable to find it for some reason.
It's a Game Changer under Warrior>Guardian 😉
Looks like a fun weekend. Thanks!
It definitely can be, I suggest you try the Pistoleer. It's a Game Changer under Warrior>Guardian, I believe 😉 Thanks for watching!
Finally, this mod is getting the recognition it deserves. Thank you 😊
Thank you too, for watching!
Seems like an awesome mod
I clearly think so 😁 Thanks for watching!
The progression loop reminds me of quite a few idle games: Hit a plateau, then rebirth and grind for new plateau.
Or a more rogue-like approach, or even a more current-day MMO one but sans the annoying gankers and whatnot 😉 Thanks for watching!

Currently level 90 sharpshooter. What’s your class and level?
Stopped playing after finishing this video. Ti's the destiny of most games I cover 🙂 I still have it installed though 😉 Thanks for watching!
What is the class for a pistol shooter? Some rogue? Which one? I could not find it in the character creation menu for some reason.
Because it isn't a normal subclass, Pistoleer is a Game Changer which you find under the Warrior>Guardian subclass 😀 Thanks for watching!
What subclass uses pistols?
It's a Game Changer under Warrior>Guardian 😉 Thanks for watching!

How to install
Go to the mod link in the pinned comment and follow the directions there. Thanks for watching!
you only forgot to leave a link to the mod itself
I'll get to that in a bit, thanks for bringing it to my attention and for watching! 😃 Check back later!
I added it in the pinned comment 😉
Yo, dupe still works in mod?
No idea! Thanks for watching!
Some of the features are nice, but to me it feels a lot like the later Painkiller expansions.
I only played the first one and the Battle Out Of Hell, which is way better than the main game 😁
It's the ranger. The ranger has pistols.
The one I played is a Warrior>Guardian Game Changer, but maybe the Ranger can do it as well 😀 Thanks for watching!
It's a good mod, just needs the HD upgrade that Belzabub has to be better.

If you’re playing a 30 year old game for graphics you’re doing it wrong…
I thought the hell 2 mod was still in development
I'm fairly sure I read that development on Hell 2 is done. Thanks for watching!
They add a proper skill tree in this mod yet? Instead of a wall of text.
Nope, it's several walls of text, actually, as you can see in the video 😆 Thanks for watching!

Diablo with guns? the game is X-Fire which we never got :')
I am not familiar with that, what is it?
@StefaNonsense It is a cancelled game from Sir-tech Software around late 90's
@kez963 OK, I get it, I just streamed JA2 btw 😉 and features it on the video before this one
@StefaNonsense That is awesome 😎
@@StefaNonsense I also trying to upload obscure game when ever I can lol
