All Vogue is important. All the New Way forms ("New Way, "Femme", etc) have their own set of complexities; but, Old Way is the CORE and HEART of Vogue in its dance form. Furthermore, it requires a lot of fore thought... in that every move forward you make MUST consider what the following move will be; because, you want to land in the pose that is most conducive for your next move. You can afford a flaw more so in a Femme-Vogue performance; because there is enough complexity for that flaw to be "absorbed" or recovered from throughout the performance. With Old Way, you better have your strategy down and completely on point, or it will show. Something huge would be lost if we did not always have some masters of the art form around; yet, something is so timeless and universal in its wisdom, that it seems inevitable that it would just reincarnate in a new time and space. It's magic.
Very well put. Thank you for your insight with this. New Way is nice but I see many young performers who are trying to imitate something that they think will impress or attract, but it ends up repetitive and shallow rather than showing the real art. Saying this as a young person
As the son of Legendary Original Father Hector Xtravaganza, I am delighted to see the enthusiasm for the Old Way. I am a Legend as well and still carry till this day. I am Father Michael Lang and I am the epidomy of Old Way Vogue
Unfortunately where I live in West Virginia, there's no knowledge of the dance or any real appreciation for it. People here still credit Madonna for the dance....lmao (as if). I still carry on in my living room at the sweet age of 53. Father Lang
Not long ago I was introduced to wonderful vogueing videos on YT by my fabulous nephew. I've enjoyed them immensely but have not fully understood the terminology, categories, History etc. Thank you for posting this. It makes me have an new appreciation for this exciting genre of dance. Now I can be cool "Auntie Lisa" when discussing dance with my talented favorite nephew. Smooches and hugs from Malden, Massachusetts.
Its good and really fun, I admire what u lovely lady boys are trying to do. continue to keep the tradition alive and upload more videos I enjoy trying the steps. :-)

Thank you for sharing this, it's really hard to learn about the Oldway. Would be great if you could share more information about technique and all the elements of it.
Gracias por este contenido de calidad y teoría, estoy empezando a sumergirme un poco más a la cultura Ballroom, me salvó la vida, me dió un sentido y un espacio seguro donde pueda ser y otrxs puedan también. Gracias a los legendarios.
I wanna take this class. I'm a hip hop dancer, run my own company. I have hand performance I guess as far as vogue fem or dramatics though but when I hip hop dance, or choreograph its reminiscent of Michael Jackson where I'll go off but there are also alot of Sharp movements and clean lines.
Hey Jamal, I was browsing on TH-cam for different things and saw that you are still into the voguing. I remember back in the 80's when you got started with Artimis Lewis, James and Jarrett Taylor. You probably don't remember me. I was Jarrett's friend George with the Black Sunbird. We had a lot of fun back in the day. Miss you much boo. Send me info how I can reach you best.
