    Wow so cool to see RCA's original tapes and cue sheets of the immortal Reiner recordings from the Golden Age, that's like the Holy Grail of mag tape.
    My original copy of LSC 2436 Pines of Rome is a Indy plant 1s/1s, found at a flea market near Indianapolis. Guess it pays to dig in those piles of old LPs - the price was fifty cents and except for a small "bubble" the condition was close to mint.

    I have three of the AP SACD's and one of the gold CD's from the Living Stereo Classical releases and they all sound just fantastic. I also own some of the original 90's RCA Living Stereo classical releases and those sound great as well. I'll be buying more of both series. I see that some of these titles will be seeing release by AP on LP and SACD in the coming months. Great look back at Ryan K Smith's mastering talent.

    If the 1/4” were stored as pancakes for a long time I would suggest getting some flanges onto them asap… the pack just doesn’t seem to want to hold its shape after 60+ years. Spent all of December putting back together scotch 111 masters that came apart all over the place, don’t even ask!! Very easily avoidable problem for the $20 or so it’ll cost you for the hardware.

    Can we not bother Mr. RKS in Nashville and get a new vid? :) Watched this vid several times before.

    Ryan has mastered some of the best sounding vinyl records that I've heard. But for CD (or digital) mastering I've never heard better compact discs that the ones that were mastered by Nimbus (UK).

      Nimbus also did great vinyl mastering before the digital stuff .

    I wish I could afford tape! I can barely handle the price of keeping a good record system!

    Love seeing this process but wish they'd show how they transfer it to DSD for the SACD releases. But notice Ryan WAS using a digital recording of the master tape he made for REFERENCE and not a VINYL record! Go figure! Was that the DSD file he recorded? Digital is supreme to vinyl! Proof right there!

    • @felipeopazomusic

      That's only to preview the EQ choices during mastering, without running the tape so many times.Ryan has mentioned this many times in different videos.

    When was this filmed?

  • @analoguecity3454

    I used to ask why would they make a 15 ips master when a 30 ips is technically better? I heard some folks say that the 15 ips has better low frequency (bass) response!

  • @analoguecity3454
    @analoguecity3454 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd be afraid to play it without the flang on it!
