I have stopped buying paper towels, perfumes/lotions, water bottles, and any product from the checkout lines! I almost went crazy when I realized how much money I spend on these products! Love your video:)
in my opinion MINIMALISM equals MATURITY. With our childish thinking we want to own everything on this planet. But when we REALLY grow up we realize we don't need most of that stuff and that's when we start cutting down and enjoy life... 😊
This! As a person I feel like I've only started to really understand and know myself these last two years and that's where you know your previous life isn't going to cut it anymore, hence this need for a revolution in your life. For me this equals purging things and a new career path.
Great video!! I am on a 3 month no-buy, but I did slip and get a nail polish. It was from Dollar Tree. I will give away 2 so I don't feel so bad lol. For next year, my goal is to not buy any makeup unless I run out of a particular product. The thing I like about minimalism is that it keeps me focused on what's important...using and enjoying what I have, caring for the environment, paying off my student loans, and saving for a house with my hubby. :) Hope to see more videos from you soon!!
This vlog is great, you touch on so many common concerns. It would be great to edit in some shots of the items you have kept: books, skincare, nail polish, clothes, etc. (Maybe you're planning to tour these in future though?)
CMS Sultana totally great idea! I'm just a newbie to video taping! I plan on doing a declutter video in all of these areas so you will get to see them sooner or later 🙊🙊🙊 Granted I have a lot less than the average person, but even as a minimalist your stuff adds up again over time!
I wish we had better thrift shops here in Germany. We only have charity stores and it's kinda frowned upon to shop there if you could afford normal clothes because you are "taking away" from People who really depend on charity stores.
GermaricanLife That's how they used to be in US. Goodwill gets their stock for free, puts not very low prices on it, then runs specials to move it. It's another way to consume. The plus side is if you furnish your house entirely with used items you're not engaging in telling manufacturers to make more, if you move you can probably donate it all back (if you don't want to move it into your new pkace), and make those things available to others, needy or otherwise. There are people shopping thriftstores to resell online or elsewhere, but I don't think the items they buy (china, leather purses, record albums, etc.) are neglecting the impoverished. As the population ages and dies, there is going to be an ongoing need for a place to put there stuff back into circulation as their heirs will not want/need/use all the things they accumulated. But, maybe in Germany the folks who are in their 60-90's haven't accumulated so much?? I am split on this change in the thriftstore world...
I started my minimalism journey by going through my nail polish, I'm down to 20 out of 70+, but everyone I try to wear now I hate, so I'm sure I'll have zero soon.
haha you're cute and fun :) I totally agree with you and can relate to everything! Have fun with your minimalism journey! I love the process! What's the name of your cat? :D
Haha besides harry potter! Im still waiting for my letter to Hogwarts :P Yes coconut oil and dr.bronners are the two things I use for my body and face. I love things that are for many purposes also that are gender neutral so my boyfriend can use them also :) awesome video I look forward to more :)
So coconut oil to remove all makeup, then dr B's on a spin brush and rinse.... then do you apply a bit of coconut oil as your moisturizer? Thank you so much for answering all my questions! When you said you didn't see a difference in your skin after switching to this routine I was thrilled! I feel so cheated by the promotion of all these so called skin care products!

Proud of you!!! ❤️
When your nail polish gets goopy add nail polish thinner! It's cheap and works perfectly!
I get mine at Sally Beauty Supply
Marissa Mandeville thanks for the advice!! I have never tried that!

That's a bummer! I have heard that about Switzerland, actually. When you come in November you will have to go check one out. ;)

Oh yeah the boyfriend thing is a big factor for me too, actually!
It is great to just both share the same thing saves space and is awesome when we travel :)
Does the Baby Mild soap take off your makeup?? Even eye makeup?
Marissa Mandeville no! I use coconut oil! I wouldn't but Dr. Bronner's on my eyes THE BURN haha 😂
okay so coconut as eye makeup remover but what do you use to take off foundation/concealer/contour/etc?
I want to strip down my "routine" too!
Marissa Mandeville same!! Coconut oil! Then I use a sponge type thing with dr. B's on it and it gets it all ☺️ but coconut oil is your answer
