You better let that very expensive little guy run a few minutes before you make that sucker run up to 6,500 rpm with a full load on it Fred. The oil doesn’t even have a chance to warm up and circulate. Remember, part of the idea was to even let it warm the coolant and intake first if it’s cold.
I am not a expert but couldn't you just turn over the pony motor but not start it to turn over the big diesel engine with the starter correct me if this wouldn't work. What I am trying to get at is to use the pony motor starter to turn over the diesel engine just for summer starting only and while starting use the decompression lever so the starter dosnt need to work to hard.

You have to hold your decompresson lever before the clutch lever
We have a gas one and have to pull every time to start it. Great vid.

Hey you going to run at starting motor out of gas . Fire it up push the throttle forward,pull the decompression lever back and engage release and go .
No engine likes running 5 seconds every day then shutting them down let it warm up a little I'd rather pay $0.50 of gas rather than a $500+ engine

You definitely don't know what you're doing on starting a pony motor
