I’m from Texas. I went to Eastern Europe a few years back for a military rotation. We had to drive our battalion’s equipment from Bavaria to Lithuania, and then again from Bavaria to North Macedonia. Of all the countries I had to drive through, (this included Germany) I enjoyed driving through Poland the most. So the feeling is mutual.
Oh, and side note. “Yanks” are Americans from the North-East of the US. We Texans don’t like being called Yanks.

I wish he spoke so eloquently when he was President. He actually seems like he cares. Why is it that former Presidents speak more truth than sitting ones. Unfortunate reality.
Because anything they say in office will be used against him. No matter how popular they were or weren’t someone is going to attack them for what they say. I thoroughly disapproved of bush 2.0 at the time but he has been far more honest since leaving office than most. He’s never addressed the single biggest issue but he could’ve been worse.
Politicians are actors. No wonder he "seems like he cares."
Or perhaps the humility of seeing the outcomes of your policies and their effects and failures can actually help you grow and be a better person. Perhaps having held power he has more respect for the dangers of arrogance. Finally with this new wisdom and the time to reflect, ex-Presidents can regain their moral compass and speak more freely about what's actually important to humanity.

Yes but it wasn't that simple because the US basically outlawed the Iraqi army and anyone involved in the previous regime. That wasn't smart and it wasn't practical. It created an internal insurgency which then created sufficient chaos that it allowed Iranian allies and Isis in so the picture became a mess and frankly the US was very slow to learn how to work with people the troops regularly called "towel heads". The disrespect and the horrors and torture inflicted on men in US prisons and places of rendition meant that the US created its own enemies and muddied the situation profoundly. It also ceded the moral high ground and Kremlin narratives still call out these crimes. The US ought to have truly gone after everyone involved in the tortures right up to and including Donald Rumsfeld and a US President should have earnestly apologized. If that had occurred and safety measures put in place within the UN to step in when some country is invading and taking out nationals without UN agreement in place then we would not have the inept UN we have today that has no capacity to help Ukraine actually have safe zones across the country that are under UN protection and we wouldn't have a huge nuclear power plant held by Russia where Ukrainian staff are being regularly tortured. It is the fault of US arrogance that it wanted loopholes for itself that Russia has been able to benefit from that makes for some of the suffering that Ukrainians experience today.
Iraqis didn't lose their territory to the USA forever like Russia is doing when it attacks a neighbour.

Unless they somehow manage to use the historical situation and manage to escape, like Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia. Russia still got a territory in the middle of Europe called Kaliningrad and Russia still got Karelia that was taken from the Finland by FORCE. Russia still holds ONE THIRD of Asia that was all captured by force. We now see Russia trying everything it can just to steal one fifth of the Ukraine, 20%. Bush appears far more eloquent now than when he was president. I didn't think much of him then, but he comes across pretty well now.

💯. He appears to have a clear moral compass, has some humility about his failures and a sense of humour and respects the national sovereignty of the Russians on what to do with Putin and of the Ukrainian people to decide how to conduct the war to end the invasion.
When he was President he went into Iraq and Afghanistan and lacked that moral compass or foresight. I agree that once in Afghanistan the US should not have abandoned the place leaving so many allies and women in Afghanistan to suffer a terrible fate after it had gone in and in essence made promises to help Afghanistan move forwards. Perhaps this older version of George W. would show more wisdom. I think that so much moral high ground was ceded in military adventurism and regime change making that much of the world came to see the US as imperialists when really America historically has been far more isolationist than people realise. Right now is the time for the US to step up and keep pressure on authoritarian regimes just as Reagan did, outspending them until those regimes collapse. No US boots on the ground but making armaments and supporting allies threatened by invasion and by ceding special powers to create a more level playing field in the rules based order and giving the UN and NATO more teeth. We can win back the moral high ground.
you check videos of him talking/debating before he was president, he was then far more eloquent than him being president. He's no Lincoln but all the jokes about him back then were partially media attacking him, for which he deserved (at least when it came to Iraq) but it's probably also partially because he deliberately chose to be a little bit of bumbling buffoon cuz that won him votes (like people didn't remember he bought his ranch like literally months before he ran for president and sold it not long after he left office, and despite his accent, he's scion of east coast elite and was educated in elite east coast boarding school).
@@eatfastnoodleit all comes down to who he surrounded himself with, he was a good man who wished to do the right thing presented with a bunch of bad options and forced to choose because he felt like he had to act at the time. Just my view.

When Putin speaks Russian he has always made it clear that Russia needs to encompass Ukraine and parts of the Baltics. To believe that Putin wasn't going to invade Ukraine and kill Ukrainian civilians is to misunderstand the goal of the Kremlin and just to believe it's narratives. To Putin, Ukraine is Russia and everyone who speaks Russian is Russian. You and I speak English but we are not owned and we have no duty to England. But if the Kremlin was in London it wouldn't see us as belonging to sovereign nations. It would think it has to free us so we can again be English. That's just imperialism. Russia didn't get to be the biggest nation in the world through peace. That's not its history. If you think Russia wants peace then you haven't looked at a world map.

He gave orders to launch missiles on multiple civilian locations (and once into POW sleeping location killing about 60 POWs -- see "Olenivka prison massacre") that killed thousands of civilians in Ukraine. On March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Now, the war is the only way for him not only to stay in power, but to survive physically. As soon as Putin's dead, the war is over, and as soon as the war is over, Putin's dead.
I will never forget what Bush did in Iraq and Afghanistan. He should be in prison not giving speeches along with Dick Cheney and the rest of his administration.

I liked what Pres. Bush said about us not imposing a solution to the war on Ukraine. Ukraine should not have to give up it's land for peace. Would America give up New York in return for peace if it were invaded? I think not.
Russia must be contained and Ukraine is the best place to do it. American's are used to giving some money to some needy little country and then turning their attention elsewhere, but this is different. Ukraine has much to offer the world if it is allowed to stay free.

Much should have been done to redress what occurred and those that caused torturing of civilians and terrible consequences for US soldiers should have faced court. One of the reasons we are here now with Russia claiming might makes right and the international rules don't apply to them is because of the US invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan losing the US it's chance for a moral high ground and a chance for the President to show real commitment of purpose in supporting Ukraine to win this fight.

They gone into Iraq because Saddam was committing Genocide with the Kurds, he gassed 120k , shooting them in the streets and torturing them, he was keep invading Kuwait, he was a menace
I discovered at least two differences:
1. US didn't have any intention to annex any part of Iraq and declare it US territory.
2. Iraq was a dictatorial regime that had previously tried to take over and destroy Kuwait by appropriating its vast oil reserves thus changing world oil market in his favor. Also, Saddam Hussein was a war criminal who supported terrorism. Ukraine is the exact opposite of Iraq, as President Bush said, it is a young democracy, part of which was invaded (and annexed) by Russia.

Ukraine has the right to solve its problems without interference from without. You should devote your resources and energies yo solving your own problems. Russian speakers in Russia are less free than Russian speakers in Ukrsine, the majority of whom resent your illegal and barbaric interference.
Time well spent explaining USA's position on Ukrainian, Russian conflict that's slightly incompatible with how it's handled by Ukrainian's on the ground. Never mind Russia's view of this war and it's plans for the region. Seen as an existential threat, Ukrainian's pro western policy, it is prioritized by Russian state and it's military spending rounds to protect it's perimeter tout prix. USA is going to have to harness a large portion of it's industrial military complex output to sustain this effort for a process to eventuate into an armistice. A pyrrhic victory for Russia is more likely in a long run as USA is always tight up with commitments elsewhere.

And this propaganda aimed at US people who don't know the details how much of US Millitary Budget goes to Ukraine aid (very little) and what a burden this war makes on Russian overall economy. Well, russian ruble lost 50% of it's value within last 9 months - just google it. Well, Putin thinks he may survive to US elections and afterwards the miracle will save him somehow... We'll see...
