The debris loader is mounted to high. I mounted mine just above the trailer rails. Also mounting it lower better utilizes the length of the hose.

Hes right I own the truck tailgate mount version but mounted on the front into out plow mounts and it shoots through a 6” solid pipe into a solid box with ridge vents the only issues we have is when we suck up wet leaves and little sticks getting stuck your mounted too high and your discharge vent is too flexible and probably too much air release with the netting has to act as a suction

little late, but that's what I was thinking the whole time. Any problem you were having would be fixed by having the blower mounted around the same level the acorns are accumulating and it would stop that. After everything gets chopped at the lower level its easier to blow it as high as it needs to go. No stopping and the hose wont ever need to be lifted over your head. Mount a bracket to the front of the trailer.

@@cheezedoodle8356 Yes exactly. I’m sure this setup can get along with regular dry leaves and work pretty good but acorns have a round small surface space. My Billy Goat is really good at sucking up the sweet gum balls in late fall and spring. Great units but they have to be setup correctly.

Great video. Just giving you a head's up when you aren't using the Billy goat or your done for the day. Make sure you cover the engine as the spark plug will corrode and fuse to the mount. And the only options are drill the spark plug or engine replacement. If you have a honest Billy goat dealer they will tell you that the Billy goat is not covered by the warranty and should not be used in the following eg, if it is raining or if the leaves are wet. Apparently it states is in the owners manual. An outdoor machine not for use outside. It was an expensive lesson for me to learn

I worked as a groundskeeper for native American tribe. They would make a lot of acorn mash. Dry the acorns. Mash them up, rinse them and leach the bitter tannins out of acorn mash. Then dry it out to a powder. Then add water when to make an oatmeal type food. I've tried a fallen acorn before too nasty!

For stuff denser than leaves get a narrower suction hose so that air velocity increases.
If that's not possible attach a foldable bar on top of your trailer cage with a loop on top and noose that hose head with a rope. Now you can just pull on the rope and move the straight up in a second.
Larger motor won't work any better.

@@HungryCowLawnCare Did you get a better way to dump? I'm about to build a box for our truck with a side "dump" section. Hard to explain but I'll use 4' plywood all around left, right and front as well as a full floor no lower the the truck bed sides on 1 side and about 6-9" higher than the side on the other side. There will be room under the plywood floor for tools and stuff. The plywood floor will be tarped tight and the low side wall will be on hinges and kept closed with a pin system. Pull the pin(s) and the leaves on the sloped and slick floor should fall out.

Ugh acorns...I got 2 giant oaks in my yard, about 3 foot at the base for the one and 2.5 for the other and about 100 foot tall? Idk I'm bad at guestimating. I just put my mulch plug in and turn them to dust or bag them with the tractor. But I have the benefit of dumping yard waste in the woods behind my house and I'm not commercial.

I 100% agree that would be a better method. I almost never have a pile of acorns through normally they are mixed up in the leaf pile and get vacuumed up with the leaves but if I was doing this for a job I would have just raked them on to a tarp and put it in the trailer. 😎🤘
