This was my oldest brothers ( G. B COLE )favorite march as he was the RSM of the HLI of C (M) at one time. Also my favorite.

In the mid to late sixties when i attended Glengarnock primary school i remember clearly my Class singing this belting it out and all the kids stood 10 ft tall
A wonderful song that still keeps me in my sixties 10 ft tall as i still belt it out! Happy 😊 days ❤

J Howe - known as Jimmy Howe - was a doyen of army bandmasters - serving in WW2 he even formed and led a band in a Prison Camp. I was priveliged to see him as an old man invited up from the audience at Eastbourne Bandstand in the 1990's to conduct one of his own marches. He led the Scots Guards Band at one time and his marching arrangements of Scottish tunes are brilliant to march to

I've always wanted to know more about J. Howe ever since I first saw his name on the jacket of a wonderful London label Lp I got for Christmas (ca. 1960).

Jimmy Howe prior to being Commissioned and appointed Bandmaster Scots Guards had been Bandmaster WO1 of 1st Bn Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

Jimmy Howe was also a friend of mine. I often heard him playing and conducting on Eastbourne Bandstand. IMO, Jimmy Howe, not Joe Ricketts (aka Kenneth Alford) is the British March King.

Remembering Jutland was a medley that incorporated several songs, including the road to the isles
