I think I already have another 10 famous people lost at sea, thanks to viewers leaving comments. And then of course there are hundreds of famous people that were cremated and scattered at sea. So yes, definitely part three and maybe even part four. 😢
A little info on Leslie Howard not commonly known. The British War Department was aware that Nazi Germany was monitoring flights and such, they also knew the plane with Leslie on it would probably be shot down. However, taking him off the plane would tip their hand to the Germans, so he and others on it were sacrificed. Excellent video and looking forward to part 2, cheers!
That makes it even sadder. ☹️ I also read that there was a Winston Churchill look-alike decoy on the plane just throw the Nazis off as well. But then I read another story that said that was just a myth. No matter what, it was incredibly sad. Thank you for sharing this with us Dan!
Extremely possible because this type of thing was done. But in this case I just don't accept this theory flights are scubbed all the time. I don't think the Germans would have thought we cracked their code.
Steve.... this vlog hits home. I lived in Pittsburgh when Clemente died. The whole town cried for him. He did not like flying. He had a premonition that he would die in a plane crash. There had been a devastating earthquake in Nicaragua. Black marketers were selling the supplies. Clemente boarded a plane to take supplies. He felt if he went with the supplies he could stop the black marketers. He was probably the greatest Puerto Rican player. He is regarded a hero in Puerto Rico.
I didn’t know that he was afraid of flying. That makes it even worse. And the fact that he was only doing it in order to do charity work makes it even sadder. 😢 Thanks for sharing that with us Norma!
Hi Steve I enjoy watching your graveyard videos. I have learned so much. Thank you so much and once again I could listen to your calming voice forever!
This makes me so sad. The thought of people being lost forever to their families without a chance to say goodbye is so tragic. No chance to say goodbye, no opportunity to collect them up into the safety of the family, no place for them to be. A friend had his ashes scattered at sea at his own request, but that felt very different, somehow.
Apparently I missed quite a few. Viewers are letting me know in the comments section, so I will be doing a part two for those who were lost at sea. And then there are hundreds we were cremated and scattered at sea. I will share those in another future video. Thanks Greg!

Hi 👋 Steve! What a great list. I don't think I knew that about actor Leslie Howard. What about John- John? (JFK, JR.). Along with his wife and her Sister? Very sad 😔 time indeed. ❤️
Steve, Thank you again for the Job you Do. Speaking for these Famous People who were lost at Sea, is such a Tragedy in itself. Some people rather be Cremated and there Ashe's to be buried by the Sea. Depending on your Preference. Enjoy your Great Videos Always 👍👏😍❤️📸
From what I have read Glenn Miller’s plane was shot down by “FRIENDLY FIRE”. It was not released to the public until many years later because Glenn Miller was so popular.
hi steve. nice video like always. there are so many people i can mention to this. james cook, and francis drake are great examples. a lot of famous explorers were lost at sea or buried at sea. you could do a whole video on the titanic alone, so many of the dead's bodies were never recovered. thanks for the content and memories
Thanks Parker, I will look into the explorers. Surprisingly the bodies of most of the famous people on the titanic were retrieved and buried in cemeteries. But I will include the famous few that were lost at sea in part two.
Two of my favorite people are on this list, Glenn Miller and Leslie Howard. My father was a musician, and he loved jazz and big band, so as a result I'm a lifetime big band fan. Glenn's always been at the top of my list. Leslie Howard is right under James Cagney as my all time favorite actor. I grew up watching classic Hollywood movies, and I adored him since I saw The Petrified Forest. My favorite role of his was The Scarlet Pimpernel.
John F Kennedy, his wife & her sister were in a plane crash on their way to a wedding. Their bodies were recovered; John, John as many of us remember him was buried at sea. The crash was debated by many "experts" who concluded it was pilot error. While not fitting in with his topic, a good idea for one of its own. I never want to be buried underground & while I watch your videos, cemeteries are not where I want to end up. Instead I want to be cremated with my ashes placed into the Gulf of Mexico. I find it comforting that my ashes will flow out with the waves & as always the waves roll in & roll back out
@@purplevamp3132 yes I said the bodies were recovered; I knew John Jr. was cremated & buried at sea. I was not sure about Caroline & her sister as I know her family sued John's estate for damages. Good morning, Steve. Nice video today. For Part 2 can you please include original Beach Boy member, Dennis Wilson, surf legend Duke Kahanamok, and Hawaiian singer, Israel "Izzy" Kamakawiwoʻole, famous for his rendition if "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." Thanx for your consideration, Steve!
Hi Terry, yes, I will be doing a video exclusively about the hundreds of famous people who have been cremated and have their ashes scattered at sea. I wanted to do that video separate from this one. Thanks for mentioning them. 👍

Another good topic video. Sad when people are lost at sea. I live in south Florida and I remember the case of two teens who took out a boat and vanished. They found the boat but they were gone. The parents of the Boys sued each others families and all sorts of problems. So sad especially when no body and there is no closure.
It was so sad. The boys went out into rough seas, as other boats were heeding storm advisories. The parents of the one boy said that he was not to go out, alone, with his friend. But they did so, anyway. That caused a lawsuit to be filed; don’t recall how it was resolved
That was very interesting so am I didn’t know we’re buried at sea or lost but I believe I told you this before does that Included cremated my favorite Jon Erik Hexum ashes spread at sea maybe you can include that one day remember you did I have a very short memory but good job Steve as always
On November 20/2000 Scott Smith from the rock group Loverboy was also lost at sea. He was with two other friends on a sailboat by the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco with a wave swept him overboard. Scott was born February 13 1955 in Winnipeg,MB.

Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, was buried at sea with a military burial. Another baseball Hall of Famer, pitcher Roy Halladay, died piloting his own plane, crashing in the Gulf of Mexico and his body was never recovered unfortunately.
"Beach Boy" Dennis Wilson's "BODY" was buried at sea in southern California.... Steve, that would be a good story for you to look into... It's quite difficult to get an entire body to be buried at sea....

@@TheGraveyardChannel I could certainly be wrong, but I thought his body, not just his ashes, was buried at sea President Reagan gave his approval, which was necessary since Wilson had no ties to the military. Did do I deserve such a horrid thing to happen to me ? I dont think I deserved it !
Omg, so sorry to hear that Patti 😳 especially after everything else you’ve been going through lately. Hopefully the coming year will be smooth sailing for you! 👍
I know that Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys, actor Leslie Howard, band leader Glenn Miller were lost at sea. Also racer Donald Campbell went missing in a lake in Scotland in 1967. His dad was Sir Malcolm Campbell.
@@TheGraveyardChannel I was very young when Roberto Clemente died in that plane crash to help victims in Nicaragua 🇳🇮. What happened was his number 21 was retired by the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baseball Hall of Fame waived the five year requirement for retired players. Donald Campbell was buried one day after 09/11 attack and also the 29 crew members of the Edmond Fitzgerald which was memorialized by a song written by Gordon Lightfoot.
Frank, Beach Boys Dennis Wilson's body was recovered after a diving/drowning accident & with assistance from then-President Ronald Reagan was granted burial at sea December 1983.
He was cremated and scattered. I did not include any of the hundreds of famous people whose ashes were scattered. I will make a video for them in the future. Thanks Jared!
Very recently I saw a show talking about Earhart and Noonan. They showed a picture of "them" in Japan(?). "They" were a distance away from the camera but it looked like it was them.

Titanic victims: Canadian businessman Hudson JC Allison, along with his wife Bess Allison and their 2 year old daughter Lorraine. The family was separated from their infant son Trevor Allison (he was taken to a lifeboat by his nanny; they survived). Bess and Lorraine got out of a lifeboat, so that they could be with Hudson, hoping Trevor was with him. Then the three of them learned that all the lifeboats were launched. Bess Allison was one of only four women who died in the sinking of the Titanic. Lorraine Allison was the only child in First Class to perish. The body of Hudson Allison was recovered and he was buried in the family cemetery, in Chesterville, Ontario, near Ottawa. The bodies of Bess and Lorraine Allison were never found 😢
Major Archibald “Archie” Butt was an advisor to Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Howard Taft. While trying to soothe tensions between the former and sitting President, in 1912, he was advised to travel, and was heading home on the Titanic, as a First Class passenger. Archie Butt died in the sinking and his body was not recovered. There are 2 tributes to Archie Butt: 1. A tribute plaque is in the basement (Gift Shop) of the National Cathedral, in Washington DC; and, 2. A fountain in the Ellipse area of the White House has the names of Archie Butt and Frank D. Millett, who also died on the Titanic
Dennis Wilson, drummer of the Beach Boys & middle Wilson brother of Brian & Carl Wilson was buried at sea December 1983 after his family was granted special permission, with assistance from then-President Ronald Reagan. Dennis Wilson was 39 years old born December 4, 1944 passing on December 28, 1983

@@TheGraveyardChannel Hi Steve. Thanks for doing due diligence. I know it was a long shot but de Roubaix was very famous in his time ( late 60s-early 70s). Thought I'd give it a try since he was a part of the French New Wave cinema and I'm sure there are some fans of French cinema who might have been aware of him. He also did some sound tracks for a few of Charles Bronson's films that Bronson did with Alain Delon and Omar Sharif. Thanks for investigating. I appreciate all the research that you do and I appreciate that you always touch base with your audience. BTW Steve, I did check out part 2 of the Santa Barbara cemetery tour, and yes indeed, you did feature the mausoleum of Princess Shams Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran's oldest sister. His plane went down over the Pacific Ocean, somewhere off the coast of the San Francisco Bay

I know that Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys, actor Leslie Howard, band leader Glenn Miller were lost at sea. Also racer Donald Campbell went missing in a lake in Scotland in 1967. His dad was Sir Malcolm Campbell.
Hi Frank, Dennis Wilson was cremated and Campbell‘s body was found and buried in a regular cemetery. Thanks for mentioning them though! 👍
I'm very surprised JFK Jr wasn't mentioned in this one

Titanic victims:
Canadian businessman Hudson JC Allison, along with his wife Bess Allison and their 2 year old daughter Lorraine.
There are 2 tributes to Archie Butt:
1. A tribute plaque is in the basement (Gift Shop) of the National Cathedral, in Washington DC; and,
2. A fountain in the Ellipse area of the White House has the names of Archie Butt and Frank D. Millett, who also died on the Titanic
I nice man
Dennis Wilson, drummer of the Beach Boys & middle Wilson brother of Brian & Carl Wilson was buried at sea December 1983 after his family was granted special permission, with assistance from then-President Ronald Reagan.
Dennis Wilson was 39 years old

I didn't know about him Gregory. Thanks, so much, for the heads up. I will include him in part 2!
Francois de Roubaix, French composer of Le Samurai (Alain Delon). Died in a diving accident, don't know if they ever retrieved his body, please include him in part two, thanks Steve.
Hi lana, I can't find any info about what happened to his body either. He doesn't seem to have a find a grave page either, so I can't include him without know for sure what happened. Thanks for mentioning him though.
I remember I mentioned her to you in part one and you told me to view part 2, which I did; and Princess Shams Pahlavi was profiled just as you said. I enjoy your channel and I give you accolades for being so kind and respectful of your viewers. Thanks again for getting back to me, I appreciate it.
Thanks lana and I'm glad you found it. :-)
