Yeah liking the mug idea as you say safe to send anywhere, personally I would choose a drop point over a clip any day. Not a big fan of Case but that Swayback is sweet you certainly went on spree what a trip. 😁

Sorry I missed the premier. A great video nonetheless. Those case knives were both very cool. I have a bone stag case Barlow that was a vault knife a few years back. But I’m pretty sure it’s a twin blade and it might have a different shield. It’s definitely one of my favourite case knives. I’m not sure about your gas station knife, but I can see why you bought it.

Like the Barlow. I also bought several of the autism awareness SD & tinkers gave most of them to my son's teachers over the years wish I would have kept one each of The Originals. they almost never have them in stock

Wow T, a ramble maybe but if you pay attention it full of facts and information.. I know I’ve said this a few times but that intro to the knife chats is the best 👍😁.
    Thanks for the chat

Thank goodness sting didn't start glowing during your presentation! Beautiful looking blade knock off or not! Get better soon, Tobias. Hurt feet are always a bummer.
Also, the mug is awesome. I prefer the design of the knife being under the cat. And some writing utensils would be equally as cool imo. Pens and pencils both. Another thing, tobias, have you thought about a knife chats hankerchief or microfiber cloth?

    Hi Tobias:
I was in that part of the world and visited SMKW about 25 years ago while visiting my wife’s family. It’s the only time I’ve ever been East of the state of Nevada. Guess I don’t get out much.
The Case knives are really nice and I agree with you that Case does a terrific job on their bonestag.
Love the coffee mug. Since you’re a Lefty, like me, it’s not a surprise that you did the double logo on it. Great. 👍👍

Once you get west of the Mississippi, distances to stuff seem to double and triple. For the most part, travel west of the Mississippi become an airplane ride. But if you live east of the Mississippi just about everything is within a days travel by car and once you get there you have a car to get around. It does make a difference.
Case is slowly on the mend, I think. They have been struggling, especially in the post pandemic. But even before the pandemic, they lost some of their most skilled workers. Folks assume you can learn to build a knife by hand within a few days. But to get truly skilled at making a quality knife takes years or even decades. That's a lot of time invested and the pay isn't what you expect. I think we're going to see Case moving toward more C-N-C for lower priced knives as their artisans continue to improve their craftsmanship. While others continue to attack Case, I'm optimistic for their future.
Thanks for your thoughts on the mug. Thanks for watching.

Case is definitely giving preference to Red Hill Cutlery when they release in-demand knives. When they recently brought back the Barlow pattern (the first one out was the Purple Barnboard Bone) I got mine from Red Hill specifically because they were getting it before anyone else

Everything is bigger in Texas - including the gas stations. Early Monday morning (yesterday), the largest Buc-ee's location in the world (120 pumps) opened its doors in Luling, Texas.
    Thanks Tobias

That case barlow is beautiful I buy them when I see them, new old it doesn't matter how new or old they are as long as they have good edges no chips on old ones and right price on new ones

Smokey mountains is awesome, when I was doing all my hitchhiking from CT to AZ back in the 1980s thru the 90s I used to love the southern route, the first time I went I took the northern highways and it took forever to get from Hartford to Phoenix and I found out about southern hospitality so I went that way every year from 1984 to 1997 every time I would get a ride I was asked if I had eaten offered work for the day which I always took so I would have money to eat do laundry or get a room for the night and relax

Oh you can drink coffee with the mug …ha ha .
What models are you working on Tobias?
I grew up in northeastern Ohio.
My dad and his (two brothers in-laws mom’s brothers) would paint 1/25 model cars up in the summer,, then would build them in the winter on the kitchen table at our house( early 1960’s)
Of course I got in the action ( I’m 66).
I got involved in a model car club in Atlanta in the 1980’s for a couple years.. My girls got older and got involved in other activities.. but they joined me in building… now, my grandkids are building model cars.. I started one grandson out at three years old.,, the kid did surprisingly well. So I have one bedroom, devoted to Legos and model cars… guess where the kids run to as soon as they get here .
I set up at the Atlanta model car show primarily to trade for the rare stuff ( mostly Chevys). Been setting up with another guy for about 35 years . Lots of laughs . May make enough to have a steak dinner and pay table fees .. but always have a good time .
I’ll have to check out those SAK SMOKY MOUNTAIN KNIFE editions

I build a little bit of everything but I seem to always come back to Tom Daniel Show Rods eventually. I have another you Tube channel that called Toby’s Glue Bomber Circus. Alas, it is very slow growing as I manage to build maybe two or three kits a year. Maybe once I retire.

Tobias, Stinging is it a real sword as in real steel with a working edge, that will cut ?

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias
      @KnifeChatswithTobias  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Sting seems to be a 440 steel and it has a decent enough edge on it. It is double edged and has a full push through tang. The pommel is also stainless steel. I was able to slice paper with it with ease. It also was able to thrust through cardboard with no issues. Still, I feel this is more “prop.” That is, it wouldn’t be my choice for actual melee or self defense. But if someone was pointing it at me with intent to do harm, I’d definitely take notice and consider it a deadly weapon. Does that help/make sense?
