    I'm a grown-up lady person, I've been following your channel for years, and I'm finally dipping my toes into my Gothic/classic lolita dreams. I'm a seamstress, so I've decided my first coord will be entirely self-made. I maintain that I find Devil Inspired shipping to be too expensive. They still don't consolidate shipping and that's a problem when adding a $5 bow is an additional $7 shipping to an order. The shipping almost always ends up costing around 1/3 to 1/2 of the total.

    I've been in a fashion rut for too long. Last real effort I put into myself was in Highschool. I dressed in my beautiful goth clothing as much as I could. When I graduated my parents were getting divorced, we lost our house, and I was told by a relative that I needed to leave my love for black clothing behind because no one would hire me, and I believed them. That's when I got into a T-shirt and jeans routine. Now more than a decade I am trying to find a style that speaks to me. I love alternative fashion. I really like lolita. I just don't know if it's right for me.

    • @polycephalic.
      @polycephalic. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I truly feel you! Except I never had a style even in grade school. My self made “uniform” was jeans and tshirt with at least one of those items being black. Mom hated it and pushed me to try things I wasn’t comfortable in. It took awhile for me to start searching for clothing that wasn’t “easy” because tees and jeans are easy as well as matching black. Cut to now, over the past few years I’ve slowly acquired items that had a distinct style (mostly 50s, 60s mod, and 70’s style). So my wardrobe was fractured, one day I would have on a true vintage dress and the next day wear modern skinny jeans and a tee. But now I’ve gotten enough pieces that I’m seeing my style come together and it’s all less fractured. My point is that you don’t need to jump into one style and rehaul your wardrobe. Discover pieces that speak to you and after awhile you will see a distict style come together, whatever that looks like for you! Hope that makes sense and trust me you are not alone in the search for clothing that brings joy

    These are so cute! ^^ I have been into lolita for a while now, but am unable anything from it because of how hard it was for me to learn how to buy things online. But, now that I'm able to just that, now the only thing holding me back is, of course, the pandemic. But I guess after the pandemic ends, I need to find a job that can help me support my interests. And hopefully, I can finally have income that can help my interests. That's another reason why I couldn't invest in Lolita was because of the bills before the whole pandemic thing.

    I'm currently transforming my wardrobe into vintage or vintage-esc fashion. I've been passionate about lolita (particularly gothic) for some time, but with my being a cosmetology student that's planning on going straight into the field when I get my professional license from my state, it doesn't seem feasible currently. I'd love to get into it some day, but now is not the time unfortunately. Vintage is a lot easier and cheaper than lolita for me, and it's a heck of a lot easier to fake. My current goal is to look like the child of Marlene Dietrich and Prudence Knight. Androgynous, witchy vintage. *sighs with happiness*

    Hi lor! I’m amy :) I’m 18 and I LOVE lolita fashion!!! The only problem is... my parents don’t. I don’t have a credit card, so I can’t shop online without their permission. What I do have is a sewing machine tho! I like to go to antique, vintage dress shops, or my local target kids section (I’m very small) and adjust things! I’m also an artist, so I’m hoping one day I can design and draw a print and iron it onto some fabric. Im relatively thrifty (one of my most proud finds was a 1950’s Lace Peter Pan collared blouse for $1 at a vintage dress store). However, I really want to branch out and buy some real Lolita. I went to my first tea party yesterday, and I felt kind of embarrassed in my homemade outfit ( the other girls were really sweet tho!! One girl was really impressed that none of my clothes were legit haha). Do you have any ideas of what I could potentially do? Thanks for the help!

  • @Zullala

    I love classic Lolita! However I don't wear it for several reasons:
    1) It's too hot to wear in the summer.
    2) I'm poor lol
    3) I don't often have the energy to deal with people's questions
    I have several pieces and I love to wear them for holidays and especially my birthday! There's just something nice about putting on a big fluffy dress for my birthday.

    @xandermauvoss 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    First--love the looks! I honestly love how diverse your style is and how you look amazing in both light, bright colors, and then the deepest blacks. Absolutely stunning.
    -
    As for your last questions, I've got to say my answers are a mouthful. I'm not really a fashionable person--graphic tshirts, shorts, and flip flops are my typical go-to, but recently I've been feeling..... bleh. Like, I've been watching you and content creators in both lolita and vintage fashions, and it just makes me want to.... spread my wings. Wear more than just the plain/simple stuff I've put almost no thought into. As of right now, I've been pretty drawn to vintage fashion, along with sort of witchy-boho and cottagecore vibes.
    -
    I think what mostly holds me back is just being new to fashion, and not having an exact idea of where I want to go. I'm hoping to be able to open myself up more and let myself find my style and passions, because I aspire to be like people like you who are embracing themselves fully. I'd like to be like that one day--to express myself not just through words and actions, but also the clothes I wear. To be truly me, and be happy in the clothes I wear.

As a newbie to lolita I’ve been trying to figure out how to coordinate wrist cuffs and have been wondering if it’s frowned up on to kinda mix an match from different brands or if wristcuffs are kinda like as long as it goes with everything else it’s all good?

    • @HPCharm
      @HPCharm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can absolutely mix different brands, not everything on a coord has to be the same brand and it’s in fact pretty rare to see coords where every piece is from the same brand. what matters in a coord is that every piece matches in style and color, not brand.

    I know this video is a couple years old, but anyone who’s watching it, Devil inspired this is my personal experience with them. I purchased around $150 worth of product for myself from Devil inspired three months ago. Since then I am was not contacted until I contacted them, and then they let me know that the majority of the products I ordered were out of stock. Then when I asked them to do me the favor and replace the products with other products, and they said that was OK I was very happy. Especially because I was thinking about purchasing other products already and they just seemed to be communicative, if really slow, so I wasn’t super concerned at the moment. But as soon as they confirmed that they told me I needed to pay an extra amount which I did, then they told me I no longer needed to pay that extra amount because more products were out of stock, so I asked them to refund it, which they have not done to this day. And then I asked them when the products would ship, to which they told me they would ship within the next week. I wait 10 days I asked them again, then they said please be patient it’ll ship soon. Fast forward an additional whole month, I asked them what’s going on again they said please be patient it will ship soon but some products may be out of stock. So far I’ve not received any of my products, and when I asked them if I could just be refunded at this point, they told me that I would only be refunded 80% of my products purchase price. They said they would charge a 20% restocking fee. This is absolutely unacceptable, everything keeps being out of stock, and it honestly feels as though they’re just trying to take as much money from me as possible not give me anything, and use policy to say everything needs a restocking fee. Very disappointed. As a newbie Lolita who was trying to prepare for my first meet up this was kind of devastating.

I want to jump right in, since people I know pretty much know I dress "odd". But, the only lovely dress I have that fits the style was a splurge buy at 500 usd 😭 I honestly would love to know where I can find more mori/cottage style clothing that is a bit more affordable than 500 bucks a piece. I also could never find any Mori content creators, so I just kind of have Anne with an E and tiktok cottage core girls for inspiration 😅

    The fashion I've been wanting to try is actually sweet lolita! Whats holding me back right now is the price, I can't get a job for a few more months, so I have like no money. I'm also pretty nervous about wearing it out, as a trans guy who can't wear a binder, wearing something so feminine is kinda nerve wracking. And the closest comm meet up to me is about two hours away, so I don't think I'll get that sense of community to back me up.

    Shiro, Wa, Qi lolita is something I would love to do but I legit fear that I would be called out for trying it because am of a darker complexion so it be along the lines of cultural appropriation if I did. As a seamstress and designer I look at it from that perspective, the details and structure and beauty made into a garment or fashion but that’s what has stopped me from exploring those styles so I just adore them from afar. 😞💙

    I found your channel through Scarfing Scarves, Tyler's rants, and I found out about Tyler through Hyperkiss. I've taken the plunge, so that I have something social to look forward to once we can socialize again without the worry about Covid-19 (which will also give me time to put a coord together), and I also started seriously looking into Lady Sloth's Gone Batty collection (just sent them an email asking questions), but the only thing that has really made me question getting into lolita are two things....my Size (and the staying at home due to Covid is not helping that case), as well as my age. As a fellow Torontonian, if you have suggestions for stores locally to get things like socks, shoes, or other accessories (or even local JSK makers), any recommendations for Gothic or (classic gothic?) would be extremely helpful.....btw I almost never use Facebook either cause their algorithms suck.

    Since I accidentally bought a cheap Lolita dress for my freshman homecoming I’ve wanted to get into the fashion. I only can’t because my mother thinks it’s a fetish and refuses to let me, yet supports actual examples of the style. Like, if I said, “hey! I want that weird Victorian dress!” She’s chill, but if I use the word Lolita I’m suddenly a pedophile. 😩

    • @Acid_Lace
      @Acid_Lace 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's just the name she gets upset over then don't use the name Lolita and play up the mom-approved traits. No need to create a barrier for yourself, especially since she supports the style.

    • @helenward6786
      @helenward6786 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Acid_Lace I wish I could, but it doesn’t matter whether I say it or not because if it’s tagged or listed as Lolita her assumption is it’s fetus gear... I’d somehow have to find Lolita dresses not marked as Lolita dresses, which is not gonna be an easy task 😰

    I have a question about gothic lolita! I don’t feel comfortable wearing crosses as I am a different religion, but if it is part of a branded item, and I removed them, would other lolitas judge me? I have a gorgeous brand tail coat that came with chains with cross shaped charms with I took off and replaced with bats?

    I'm actually about to quit my lolilurking and finally buy my first pieces, but I'm concerned that people might not take me seriously anymore. I am a studentbody rep at my uni and oftentimes have to talk to and negotiate with professors. I am a woman in a predominantly male field and until now, I haven't experienced any problems with that, but I fear that a very frilly, very "female" style could change the perception of some on my qualifications as most women wear rather plain and functional/comfy clothes. Does anyone have experiences with these situations?

  • @elfiel213

    I've really been into a bit of gothic myself lately(I mostly wear classic and a bit of sweet), And I just have two obstacles with it, one cat hair. I own two ragdolls (I mean they own me)and their hair is very fine and sticks to clothing even more than regular cat hair, so in most flack fabrics I just look like I'm wearing white cat hair. And the second one is crosses *does a little vampire hiss at crosses* I'm pagan and I personally feel like I'm lying I'm a christian when I'm not. I doesn't mind it if other people wear them just for the aesthetics and I admire them on other people, but on me it feels a bit icky. I wonder why other gothic fashion seems to include a lot of pentagrams and ankhs but gothic lolita is so cross dominated. I still feel a bit weird wearing black after so many years of wearing only white and pastels. I want it, but it feels alien.

    • @courtneycherry113
      @courtneycherry113 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For accessories I normally remove the crosses most of the time they are attached with a jump ring, as for prints I just avoid the cross motif. I feel the struggle wish there was some pagan prints.
