Watching these in prep for my first HEMA class, and I’m left with a few questions google doesn’t seem to know how to answer. First, is “right of way” considered ? Second, in the case of two hits at the same time, are points ever awarded? Third, what caused the fencer to receive two points for some hits.
Not 100% sure, but: No right of way is not considered. Doubles do not award points (it might be score difference, but we don't see an example in the video). Head awards 2 points, not sure if also the torso awards 2 points, but rest of the body is just one point.
0:55 Bohdan's single handed thrust are often looked down upon because this way longsword handwork looks cheap, but no one is talking about how his attacks are well executet passing steps attacks (not fleches, mind that, but passings steps (stop and rebalance after one pass), and starting with left foot forward). I know Bohdan is left handed, but then he makes thrust with right hand - this would be perfect messer thrust from right eber with passing step.

It looks terible, just like olimpic fencing. HEMA should evolve more to Blossfechten rather than full gear 😢
