I'd say he's 3/4 or 7/8 naive and has a very long way to go before he wakes up. He says he's a wuss and he's right. He says he's still "woke" and even more so than before. He says Jews are a "model minority" which is an image of Jews that only exists in the minds of Jews -- not in any non-Jew I have ever met. He said the vast majority of Muslims have no problem with Jews and do not dislike them. This is a total denial of reality. He needs to view videos featuring Timor Aklin, an Israeli Arab who converted to Judaism and who tells it like it is as far as what Israeli Arabs ACTUALLY think of Jews. In my own experience most Muslims very much have a problem with Jews and they are not afraid to say it. Both Davidai and Saad gloss over the fact that their friends don't get upset about anti-Semitism the way that they would object to prejudice against any other group, dismissing it as not indicative that such "friends" share those anti-Semitic views. Big Mistake. They don't get bothered by anti-Semitism because they do share those views.

The fact that he mentioned 'Islamophobia' and it's supposed 'rise' on the same sentence, saying he does not differentiate it from Anti Jewish hatred..., it's a typical ill-informed, knee jerk reaction of progressives, also he said 'DEI and Equity' are important 'as long as not take to extremes'. Sounds like Shai does not know what 'Equity' really means. He simply ignores the historical Islamist hatred towards Jews. He likely does not know what a 'Dhimmi' is.

I dunno about Isreal - but I do not see this equivalence of hateds in the West. I do not see the anti-semitism balances out, in evil, with the Islamophobia, which balances out with Christian extremism. This to me - is a cowardly cop-out posing as some kind of virtue - a very fake fairness.
Firstly, there is no such thing as "Islamophobia." It is a made up word. One designed to conflate racism with concern over the teachings of Islam and the actions of Islamists. There is anti-Muslim bigotry, but it's heavily clamped down on in the West (unlike anti Jewish and anti Christian sentiment). And it is a tiny problem (maybe not in Israel).
Then, there is a mass of anti-semitic feeling out there. As we are seeing weekly in London. Much of it rekindled by the UK's new Muslim migrants. Lastly - the Christian extremist threat is so insignificant, so tiny, we should worry about invasion from outer space sooner.
Yes -- what I am saying is 90% of this shit is coming from Islam. No equivalence. This leaving aside the territorial dispute out there in Israel.

My thanks once again Gad, for producing and posting this. I am not optimistic about the future for the State of Israel and Jews in general, due to the exponential rise of Antisemitism & Jew hatred in countries like Canada. After Canadian schools removed teaching the history of the Holocaust, James Keegstra & Ernst Zundel filled that vacuum with Holocaust denial literature. Holocaust denial saw such an immediate popularity in Canada, that Canada's government instituted Anti-Hate-Speech legislation, as a preventative measure to combat AntiSemitism. After October 7th, AntiSemitism spiked in Canada, yet the government of Canada with these new policies in place to prevent its rise, did absolutely nothing. In essence the government of Canada, while voicing support for Israel, through inaction and action has been fostering AntiSemitism and supporting those behind it like UNRWA. Justin Trudeau spoke of a pause in funding for UNRWA, shortly after the Liberal Minister overseeing funding of UNRWA, increased funding by over $40m, to UN bodies that tacitly contribute to Hamas. The degree of inaction by governments to help Israel and worldwide Jewry, in time of their greatest need, does not leave me optimistic.

but Jews are an ethnicity. all of us, regardless if we are Ashkenazi or Sephardi, or Mizrahi, except only first generation converts, are carrying a very certain genetic marker, the J-gene, as it’s nicknamed, that is common for all of us and connect us to the Middle East, Levant and the Land of Israel in particular. we are an ethnicity. but even more so we are a people, a nation and probably even a civilization.

    • @amirabiri2
      @amirabiri2 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

That's not accurate. What the genetic research shows is that the core groups of Jews, namely Ashkenazi and Sepharadi Jews, we are indeed descendants of the ancient Judeans coupled with some non-Judean ancestry along the way (which can come from various sources along the centuries - conversions, mixed marriages, rapes and conquest, etc). The non-Judean elements are mainly our Mediterranean conquerors - i.e mostly Italian and other southern European. The Ethiopian and Indian Jews are more clear cases of conversion, although they do have some Jewish ancestry as well.
The bottom line is that we're somewhere in between an ethnicity and a religion. This is why the words "nation", "people" or "Identity" are more appropriate, even if this identity includes a significant ethnic factor.
Look up "Genetic studies of Jews" on Wikipedia.

“Islamophobia is as bad as antisemitism” - is that true? not all ideologies have equal value with regard to morality, intellectual substance or truth. It is understandable and rational to be “phobic” of some ideologies, indifferent to others, and even supportive of some. Speaking for myself, I’m quite “phobic” of fundamentalism and totalitarianism in general, and I’m wary of cultures that are oppressive and pose a threat to peoples cognitive liberty…

The violent torture that was inflicted on Israelis on Oct. 7 was so over the top sadistic, it is impossible to believe that any moral person could justify it. Unfortunately, the word "rape" is used to describe what happened to so many women and men when it was sadistic sexual and physical torture -- the word rape doesn't come close to describing what was done to those females, some of whom were children and even to men. Russell Rickford, a black professor at Cornell said he felt energized and exhilarated by the Oct. 7 attacks, never even considering this to be in any way racist at the time he made those remarks. Such people never had a moral compass to begin with.

  • @teelurizzo8542

A very fine conversation, and quite shocking that college professors and academic professionals consider 'rape as a form of resistance'...Appalling.
Having said I think Shai is still mistaken and naively taken by the woke left influence. When he says DEI and equity are important, as long as 'not take to thei extreme'....sounds like Shai honest really understand what 'equity' really means. Equity is incompatible w/ logic, fact, evidence and meritocracy.
Also him mentioning 'the rise in Islamophobia' and not differentiating it from Anti Jewish/Anti Semitic hatred is naive and misguided, it's another knee jerk reaction that Leftist Progressives often resort to automatically. The whole 'both sides' thing....
Maybe Shai, as an Ashkenazi , ignores the true extent of the discrimination that Sephardim and Mizrahim had to go through when they were minorities in Muslim majority lands. Leftist Progressives often espouse the idea that 'before 1948' ...'Arabs and Jews lived in perfect harmony' , like it was all some type of Sunday afternoon picnic in the park w/ apple pie and coca cola.

Professor Davidai makes the same mistake all non-Muslims tend to make: He speaks of "Muslims", and does not given consideration to ISLAM. But it is the religio-political system which we know as Islam (Mohammedanism) which is the underlying problem. Sam Harris refers to it as "the mother-lode of bad ideas". ISLAM does not have 'versions' (eg 'peaceable' or 'Jihadi'). Authority to decide whether an action is 'Islamic' or 'Un-Islamic' rests within its trilogy of scriptures: the Koran, the Sira and the Hadiths. If Mohammed did it; then that is good, Islamic, behaviour: even if it involves murdering Jews, or killing homosexual people for just being homosexual.

Islamophobia is like AS ? And the risk and dangers is the same in America ?
I do not differentiate the two ?
I do understand that hate is hate , but one group has 1,700,000,000 ppl
One 12,000,000 that I’m the pay faced a genocide .
This need to be ohh everyone is the same , mostly peaceful and loving .
I will never ever celebrate rape or justified it 99% of Muslims in America and Europe did .
How do we know that , they did not protests against what happened , condemn it , in a real way Not without “but apartheid “
There is a way to say hate is hate in general , and respect one another bla bl and at the same time to say
With all due respect it is unacceptable to call for genocide of JEWS on the street of NY !
Unacceptable to creat a map with JEWISH organizations on it .

exactly! I took a stand to learn as much as possible about the region and its history and my conclusion is that its overwhelming hate form the 1.7 billion side that is the culprit. Its that simple and clear. Analyzing a person coming at you with an axe with the intent of decapitating you is not a good philosophy. You will die in that case and may still die if you fight back but at least you had a chance.

    (1) I'm an Ashkenazi atheist Jewish American. Why am I all these things?
I'm an Ashkenazi because my antecedents were Ashkenazim, making me "a member of one of the two great divisions of Jews comprising the eastern European Yiddish-speaking Jews" (Merriam-Webster aka M-W). I'm Jewish because THEY were Jewish, because my Jewish father's sperm got together with my Jewish mother's egg and became the blastocyst that eventually turned into me.
I was born atheist, I've been atheist since I became a blastocyst. However, my society considers me Jewish from birth because the egg and sperm that joined to create me were from Jewish parents. That makes me biologically Jewish, but not a religious Jew. Religion is a philosophical construct; I would have to choose Judaism in order to be a religious person, a believer in a faith system with a deity at its apex and its zenith.
Yet I was raised in a Jewish family, among other Jewish family members and with Jewish family traditions. This makes me culturally Jewish. I have a biting, sardonic sensayuma, one sure sign of Jewishness. Another is a strong sense of fatalism; because I am a Jew, events like the Spanish Inquisition, Russian pogroms, the Holocaust of WWII, the genocidal Hamas attack of 7 October 2023, and worldwide Jew Hatred are inevitable - how else can you explain our sensayuma?
However, I'm atheist because the absurdity of deities is stronger even than the South African charge of Israeli genocide against Palestinians, stronger even than religion itself, stronger still than the idea that faith - the abandonment of reason, evidence, and critical thinking individuality - is a virtue.
    (2) IDGAF what the Other thinks of me because of (1) above. That's THEIR choice, therefore THEIR problem. I can help them, if they'd like, but there's nothing they can help me with, because it's not my problem, it's THEIRS.
    (3) What a wonderful opportunity to write about this amazing outbreak of worldwide Jew Hatred! Think of all the evidence y'all can gather, then analyze, and finally opine about! What a silver lining we all have!
    (4) Nu?
ETA: Professors Saad and Davidai, this would be a great time to start gathering surveys and interviews from those that have chosen not to speak out and those that have chosen to speak out. Of course, they can be anonymous or nonymous, as each individual chooses.
Please allow me to assist y'all in your investigations of silence vs. stridence!

I have heard that in the dayly prayers Moslems have to say they in fact condemn Christians and Jews although these are not explicitly named. Still the exegisis of the prayer seem to be very clear about its contents. Of course this does not mean that all Moslems would act violently. Yet the hatred of Jews is inherent in Islam. And in fact in the Christian gospel there are anti-jewish views present.

Outsiders see two Middle Eastern cultures killing each other. Jewish tribes have been interacting with European tribes for two thousand years. The cultures have developed together. Focus on the similarities between Israelis and The West. That there is no FGM, far less femicide, no murder of homosexuals in Israel. MGM is still an issue, remember Freud concluded that this Jewish tradition was at the root of European anti-Semitism. Regardless, when it comes to human rights Israelis are more like The West than they are to Muslims. Even though Israelis are very Middle Eastern in their behavior. Might makes right, shame and honor, and all that. I’m explaining HAMASide to my propagandized Canadian friends. It’s a unique Gazan war tactic that interleaves military gear into civilian populations, different in degree if not in kind to other wars.

Paul was around when Jesus was alive, yes. But he wasn't one of the twelve apostles and was in disagreement with them.
