I have followed Texas Country Reporter for many years, and I have watched hundreds of episodes. This episode will become another favorite. I was forced to retired two years ago, and I found a new companion in the company of a 1950 Royal typewriter. This old faithful typewriter, which in many ways can not compete with my MacBook, woke up a creativity that I will always enjoy. After typing hundreds of pages, I was surprised how feely the words flowed. Then I discovered that this new surge of creativity was not a unique experience. It is now shared by many people who have discovered the magic of a manual typewriter.
Nice to see poetry still alive and well. I started writing at 14 years old because life took some pretty bad turns and I had no one I could really talk to so I started writing poetry to help deal with everything. Not only did it help vent what I was feeling but I developed a sense of pride because the poems were good.
This is so cool. I have always been able to string words together on a whim like that too but who would have ever thought there might actually be a group who does that together. Great jobs folks.
You can also buy calculator ribbon at Office Max / Office Depot, and then re-spool it on your original typewriter spools. The ribbon is the same width.
I think this story is kinda cute, but I agree with you! They destroy their state and then move away and bring their "ideas" and "voter stupidity" that destroyed their state to begin with! There should be a "test" at the border, before they can come in with their ideologies and do the same thing to your state that they are fleeing! These are not "Real" Texas folks. Same in my state of Chicago,....... I mean Illinois! Chicago has "NOTHING" in common with the majority of this state!! I fear both our states are on a fast track to destruction!

Out of all the poetry and philosophy the only question I have is where are they able to acquire the ribbons? “New/old” stock?
Jeenkz K eBay. You can find any ribbon for just about any brand typewriter for around $10. It's where I go for all my typewriter ribbons.
I now have a collection of manual typewriters and never have a problem purchasing ribbons. Finding a typewriter repairman is a problem.

Why bother with Austin, not many real Texans live there.
Weird is mild. They need to go back to California.
