In this video, you'll meet our whole, entire EBC trail family including our wonderful guide, Prakash AND our incredible Sherpas: Min, Sumon and Bupol. Today, we hiked from Lukla to Namche Bazaar, which was a BIG day filled with a fair amount of mileage, animals, bridges, yummy food and so much beautiful scenery. Nepal is such a magical place!
I don’t think they are Sherpas. Sherpas are one of the ethnicity/castes of Nepal who live in that region along with other ethnic people aswell. Sherpa word refers to people living in the east in Tibetan language but the West has a misunderstanding of calling everyone sherpa who carries load, do mountain guide etc which is not true.
@@mingmarlama7987 I'm glad you pointed this out because I'm still not 100% about this one myself. When I did the research, I thought our guys (Min, Bupol and Sumon) were porters, but when I asked out guide, he told me that they were Sherpas. Porter or Sherpa title aside, "our guys" (which we lovingly referred to them as along our trek) were absolutely AMAZING and an important part of our EBC Trek family. We couldn't and wouldn't wanted to have done this trek without Prakash, Min, Bupol or Sumon.
I spent a lot of time going through and picking music that really got the vibe for each day of our trek. This whole series has been so much fun to put together because I’ve been able to relive our entire trip. Part 3 goes live this Sunday! 😀
It's really amazing place to visit Nepal, you will feel different with each dimensions, nature, foods, life style of rural village moreover yummy food with very cheep price then other places, if you really love nature, this will be best & best destination for you,
Wow I don’t have any words to describe my happiness! Thanks for exploring Nepal in the world 🙏 Have a great time and enjoy your trekking👍 Watching from portugal 🇵🇹 Lots of love ❤️🇳🇵
Amazing video! Your constant smile is testament to the fact that you are having such a great time! I'm so glad you are. That part of the world is awesome. I had visited Kathmandu and other neighboring cities years ago. Your videos bring back so many memories. And the momos were delish! Do they still make them with pork? They're great on a cold day! Have fun and stay safe!
I love this! I couldn’t stop smiling during our entire trek, even when it got tougher up at the higher elevation. It was all just so magical. Can’t remember if I saw pork momo, but I did have plenty of the chicken and veggie momo. Yummy!!!
This video series features my experience of being in Nepal with my friends and our wonderful guide, Prakash and I love using music that fits the mood of what we were all experiencing while we were out there. If you're looking for a "long quiet video" then I know there are other video creators on TH-cam who create what you might be looking for. :)
Kathleen, what a wonderful opportunity you had to visit Nepal and do that trek! Excited to see the rest of your story! Curious what the large bundles were that several people you passed were carrying.
Glad you’re enjoying this series! These videos have been so fun to put together. The large bundles were anything from supplies, food or gear to empty plastic bottles.
The Namche Hill was tough! I put the camera away by this point because the rain got heavier, the trail was super muddy, it was getting dark and I was exhausted from a very long day. I brought it back out again once I had showered and we were having tea and dinner at the teahouse. Have a great trip!
Great question and this is something I will cover in detail in a future video. Along our trek, we had flushing toilets in our teahouses up until Lobuche. From there, the bathrooms consisted of a toilet with a bucket of water. The water would acted as the "flushing" mechanism for the toilet. The bathrooms along our trek were always been, but not necessarily in the rooms we stayed in. As for drinking water, even though I brought a SteriPEN to treat water, we ended up buying and drinking bottled water during our entire trip, both along the trek and in Kathmandu.
We’re you carrying all of your things on your back? It seems like some of your companions had day packs while others had much larger multi day backpacks.
Everyone in our group carried day packs with everything we'd need throughout the day. Our amazing Sherpas (Min, Bupol and Sumon) covered our duffel bags to each of the teahouses we stayed at. Our duffel bags had all of the things we'd need overnight while staying in each of the teahouses. There were people along the trek who were carrying ALL of their gear, which meant they were carrying larger packs, but they weren't with us.
It took us all day to get to Namche Bazaar once our plane landed in Lukla. I have no idea exactly how many hours it took us, but we did get into our teahouse well after dark.
@@TheHungryHiker ..Sunday???? OK make video a bit longer 20-25 min and we also want to hear the real conversation and you briefing your commentary and you team thoughts...make it more interesting
Thank you so much 🙏 mam for exploring the beautiful mountain range of Nepal & showing to the world through your vlog. We hope coming future you will explore many more wonderful places of Nepal. You earn 1 sub☺️🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Namche Hill is a notoriously tough climb for a little more than 2 hours nonstop. I don’t see any trekker takes the time to stop and videotape Namche Hill but focus on their climb.
By the time we reached Namche Hill, it was pouring rain, getting dark and we were exhausted. I didn’t bring my camera out much towards the end of the day, until we were rested up at the teahouse.
I recently did this solo, it took me maybe 3-4 days to start understanding how to walk at altitude. Had to break the habit of going (or trying) to hike too fast. Why did you choose to hike to Namche on the first day? That’s a very long day, I would not want to be ascending Namche hill in dark, even descending it is hairy especially with the mud.
Slowing down our hiking pace was a constant challenge out there. Thankfully we had a wonderful guide (Prakash) to help guide us and remind us to slow down our pace so that we didn't overexert ourself when we were hiking at the higher altitudes. Hiking to Namche from Lukla was always part of our plan. Overall, our trek up to EBC was only 5 days with a helicopter ride back to Lukla. We knew coming into this that the hike out of Lukla was going to be a big day.
This trek could be for all different experience levels, but you’ll need to train for it. As for doing this solo, Nepal just passed legislation last year making it mandatory that every foreign traveler have a local guide for this trek. So I wouldn’t suggest doing this trek solo since it’s now considered illegal.
Thanks for exploring beautiful khumbu region...please note that we don't refer someone carrying your bagpacks as sherpas.Sherpas are an ethnic group of people living scattered mostly in the north eastern part of the country..Those gentlemen helping with your bagpacks are from lower valley of khumbu region probaby Rais another ethnic group
Please excuse my mistake. When I asked our guide if our guys were porters or Sherpas, he told me that Min, Bupol and Sumon were Sherpas. Apparently I’m not the only one who’s made this mistake. Titles and names aside, Min, Bupol and Sumon were such important and incredible members of our EBC trekking family. ❤️
Namaste! We were lucky in that the weather didn't really get too cold until we reached over 15,000 feet. Up until that point, I was able to hike in shorts comfortably during the day. After 15,000 feet, I switched to pants and warmer layers. Luckily, we didn't run into any snow along the way. Just a bit of rain and clouds.

Maybe more interesting for you. Based on how well this video is performing (it’s the highest watched/most engaged with video out of the last 10 videos I’ve posted on my channel), I’d say a huge majority of the viewers out there are enjoying the video just as it is. No need to change anything. Remember, what someone considers “better” is subjective. The metrics tell me everything I need to know. 😀
