Huseyin Sert, yes, I thought there has to be an easier way. I used it for translations. You can easily adjust the width of each column so paragraphs stay aligned. Create 2×2 table if you have headers. And many other advantages of this method. Like number of words will be shown for the column you working on.
Hi Tom You did a move at 2:36 enabling you to group the two boxes.You got the arrowed circle above both boxes, then you were able to group them. I can't do this.The arrowed circle appears on top of one or the other...Sorry, Ive never done such a format job.
Glenn, There's an area that is about one pixel tall(!) that you have to click on. Make sure you get the TIP of the arrow on the EDGE of the text box when selecting the second text box. And hold down either the Control key or the Shift key to select both text boxes. Then you should get two arrows, and when you do, you can group them. You can include the vertical line in your selection, too, but it's easier to select if you make it a little taller than the text boxes. Tom
Tom--do you have an answer to Sorin's question? This is my problem exactly. I produce minutes for two boards and everyone wants the agenda numbering to line up with minutes numbering....
It worked. I had to put them side by side with text, luckily I found out how to change my page size. Anyway, maybe I'll send you a copy when I'm done. Thanks for your help.
+darlene trujillo Cool! Glad you got it to work. Pictures need to be "anchored" to a paragraph (the anchor icon). Pictures are also easier to place on the page if you set the picture's "Wrap Text" property to "Tight".
Kee-rist, this is so complicated it's embarrassing. All you gotta do is: 1) Open a new Word document2) Go to Page Layout tab3) From Page Setup section click on Columns menu to select the number of columns you require.4) For the left hand side table, click the cursor onto the point you want the left hand table to be located and then open Insert tab (usually) on page top, choose "Insert Table" and choose the type of table number of columns and rows layout you want. This inserts the table on the left hand part of the word document sheet.5) For the right hand side table, click the cursor onto the point you want the right hand table to be located and then open Insert tab (usually) on page top, choose "Insert Table" and choose the type of table number of columns and rows layout you want. This inserts the table on the right hand part of the word document sheet.6) For continuation sheets, do what you usually do, copy the tables and do the old cut and paste shuffle. Job done! Then I was also able to get it to work (after previously trying for quite a while) to do it in Nitro PDF. If you do have a tutorial on that, let me know. I am just finishing up on a catalog. Yeah, Word doesn't seem to want to help translators very much. It's silly, really, that it has a thousand options but lacks one so simple. Parallel text is not a hard concept! The best solution is to create a table in two columns and as many rows as you need for as many text segments as you have (sentences or paragraphs). It's still a pain. Third party programs like Nova Text Aligner (free 14-days trial) can help streamline the process.
Are you asking about using Word in Android on a cell phone? There is a version of Word for Android, but since I have an iPhone, I've never used it. And, I have onlyl used Word on my phone very few times, and just for reading. Doing Word processing on a device that small is very painful. The Android version is free, so it is definitely going to be stripped down, and it may not have this feature. This isn't a very helpful answer. Just try to download the free version of Office for Android and give it a try.

I think the easier way is to create a 2 by 1 table. Delete borders, except middle vertical. It will expand itself as you add more text.
You're a legend. Create a 2x1 table and hide the borders. Job done.

Actually, Word now lets you make a 2-column table that extends as far as you want it to extend, but it didn't always do that.
