How to choose dorm in Japan and Kyoto

If you're an international student who will study in Japan, this is for you!
How to choose your accommodation and dormitory especially in Kyoto and KyoDai?
Be sure to follow the procedure given by your university since each University can be different and unique.
For Kyoto University people! where to choose and write down in your dorm list before you submit it. please rethink about Yoshida Int. house as your first choice and write down Ohbaku as your last hope, it's better than getting nothing from the beginning!
