there were so many rumors that Anastasia escaped and was hidden away that, as a kid, I never really believed that she was killed with her family. I always thought that at least one Romanov survived somewhere whether that was Anastasia or not. It's really sad how Rasputin was able to destroy the Romanovs and that it resulted in the deaths of so many, including the innocent children of the Romanov family. Regardless to who died or how I don't think Rasputin's death was bad enough. He deserved far worse than he got for what he did to all of Russia.

Disney actually didn't make this movie. Don Bluth made it AFTER he left Disney. The only reason Disney owns this movie & others he did for 20th Century Fox now is they acquired Fox in 2019. I think part of the inspiration for this movie was there was a woman who claimed she was Anastasia (though she wasn't the only 1, just the most famous cause she sued the Romanov estate). She went by Anna Anderson at the time. It wasn't till after she died & they did a DNA test on her that they found out she wasn't Anastasia after all. There's a 2 part TV-Movie that came out in 1986 that featured a 12 yr old Christian Bale in his 1st ever role as Alexei called Anastasia: the Mystery of Anna that's about this woman. If you get a chance, go check it out. From what I remember it was really good.
Thank you! I’ve been waiting for someone to acknowledge that, it’s been driving me crazy that people treat it like a Disney movie when it isn’t one. Granted they would own the rights now because they bought Fox but this movie came out more than 20 years before that happened.

It’s a fascinating and interesting video on the heartbreaking and tragic Story of Anastasia what her life was really like when Anastasia and her family lived during imperial Russia 🇷🇺 it’s so sad and devastating how the lives of Anastasia and her beloved family ended so tragically by the soldiers during the Russian revolution at the age of seventeen years old

The animated movie is fabricated. Anastasia’s remains were not found for a loooong time. But, it’s still a great musical film and the cast is perfect
