      Heey Matt/DiyPerks,
Recently I have started work on your project: speaker with a glass on the top of it and led filiments inside. I hope you know witch one i'm talking about.
At this moment i have finisched the electronics, but i have a very big problem... the ampifier boards you use keep destroing themselfes in my speaker, so far i watched 2 board go up in flames and i'm very afraid of placing in a new one because the delievery times are realllllyy long for me. I would like to know if you know how this happens and if this has happend to you.
When i'm done with the electrics everything works and the sound is great but when i turn it of, wait a few minutes and try it on for a second time. The board shoots flames and i can start over again....
I would really like your help.
      Components:
      Dayton audio speakers nd65-8 2-1/2
Amp: OEP30W (the stereo type like your concrete speaker)
Power: 19V old laptop power supply
      Potentiometer 50kohm dualgang with switch.
Do you have any idea why my boards work the first time but the second or thirt time they go up in flames...
I really look forward to your reaction,
My project is at a stop now if I can't figger this out my project ends here.
      Thank you so much,
      Kind regards,
      Roy de Kock
Ps. I'm really sorry for spelling mistakes english isn't my first languege. Love your video's.

Bit of a tip with sketchup, you can drastically increase the number of sides of circle/arc if you scale up the model and scale it back down when you're done. This way you can make a circle with up to a 1000 sides rather than whatever arbitrary limit it uses when you're making smaller models. Also certain functions like 'intersect faces' work more reliably when the model is scaled up. I usually scale my more detailed models up up by 10x.

    • @steamsteam6607

You'd have to put some component monitoring the power draw of the amp to adjust the voltage of the LEDs between the amp an,d the LEDs. Any ideas? Maybe a bit much for some flicker. Maybe it's easier to put a component with microphone that modifies voltage according to the level it picks up. Someone suggest an (easy, sensible) solution.

Thought about this, it would probably be possible to isolate the sound output with a few components and affect the voltage regulator for the LEDs a bit. Add a small capacitor to the LEDs and it would probably flicker smoothly to the bass of the sound.
