Soraki is a beast, and his commitment to the old school vocab as his foundation is great to see in 2024, but Sydney got that 100%. He was way more in tune with the music, and had more to say on this track for sure. I hope Soraki sticks around in the euro/west dance scene for a long time though. It'd be cool to see Soraki add some subtleties and exchange with Evion, Doyah, and others in his class. Back to Sydney though. Dude has crazy creativity within both movements and musicality, and really knows how to use his round. He's just super entertaining and I'd want to see what a battle between him and Franky Dee would look like. Appreciate the vid, insights, and space to discuss doc.
Rubix was spamming and doing crazy stuff the whole competition, some of the power moves he did wasn't even atleast on beat, what i notice though is the start of all his rounds are usually good and smooth then 10 seconds later he just goes shibuya-saiyan 3000 and loses complete control He should just watch and learn from his brother who often has an explosive style of dance but he never looks messy cause he knows how to execute well and not lose control.
Yeah there was a lot of letting the bigger names pass on going on this event I got nothing against Soraki & I think he's talented as hell but Sidney brought the spirit out of this song out. It wasn't really comparable...sucks when competitions pull this shit & yeah idk about the Rubix/Spider battle, maybe it was the song but the round just felt underwhelming & nothing memorable.
The Doc opening eyes. Before watching real breakdowns on dance and battles, the household name no longer works for me. I find myself looking for more dance connecting to the music, flow, and longer rounds because I see a lot of dancers throwing out their best moves back to back to back to get a crowd reaction.
I really wanna see soraki spend more time in Europe and develop his style more because sometimes it feels like technique 110% but disconnect both with the music and opponent..
Although I love the idea of Rubix and I love what he can do physically, I am not a fan of Rubix's battle rounds. He comes across as unhinged and wild to me. I don't feel a story or a plot or a message when he's like that. It strikes me as chaotic and disjointed. In this particular case I didn't feel much from Spider either, so either way didn't matter to me.

There are bunch of red bull events (and many others) that are straight politics. They’re gonna push the dancer forward who is gonna generate them the most views and who is most popular. Straight bullshit sometimes
@@heni63 my apologies I remembered incorrectly. However, my point still stands. Im not gonna try and push against the subjective side of dance because it’s an expression but battling there has to be objective markers and it feels like that all gets thrown away when bigger names come into play

New names would attract viewers too I think, although that would take some time probably so you are probably right that current bigger names attract more. But still think they are pretty neutral, at least they have 3 people so when one isn't the other might be. Only one judge would be bad

Here's an opinion...juste debut gold 2023 sucked. I don't know what it is about it but I haven't felt it at all in all of the videos I've watched. Maybe it's the short dancing time, the tracks or the energy but I never felt it like previous ones.
Juste Debout Gold wasn't meant to be like all the others. It is a separate entity, and new format, different than Juste Debout. It was a lot of fun to be there. The energy was crazy, the dancers were fantastic, the vibe was all peace and love. It was phenomenal.
