I had the honour of meeting Kevin Conroy at LA Comic Con in 2021 - He signed my copy of Mask of the Phantasm DVD and we chatted about our favourite moments from the show and movie - the one thing I will never forget, was him saying to "keep creating and continue to say something with your art" - as a filmmaker/director, that meant a lot coming from him. He will always be my Batman and THE definitive voice of Batman.
Just when you think 9 months passed and you're slowly accepting the fact that Kevin Conroy passed away you watch this wonderful five minute piece about his legacy as arguably the greatest Batman of all time and it just comes flooding back to you and it still hurts but it's also a celebration of arguably one of the greatest artists of our time to play one of the greatest heroes of fiction of all of our time. Kevin's voice was one of the first voices I remember hearing as a child growing up and his passing was like losing a family member but what a great legacy that he left with all these amazing actors, screen writers, and artists of Warner Brothers and DC animation to carry on the legacy of who he was and what he meant to the fans worldwide forever. The Batman the animated series crew is one of the greatest established groups of artist collaborating ever and to continuously remember Kevin among others like efrim zimbalest, shirley walker, arleen sorkeen, michael ansara, and David Warner as some of the greatest of all-time really it's a testament to them in the work that they've all done together, much love to the EMMY WINNING cast and crew of BTAS. All I could think Batman mask of the Phantasm was Kevin Conroy's ultimate portrayal as Batman on the big screen and I understand why it's considered arguably the greatest Batman film of all time 🙏 🦇 👑. #RIP #LongLiveTheKnight #BTASForLife

Someone I adore gifted me a cameo from Kevin for my birthday. The closest Ive been to my hero, the greatest gift. I'll never forget how his Batman gave me strength and how he left me some advice that will always accompany me.
Ya I got one too last year because I was going through a hard time got seizures last year and I didn't watch his Cameo till after he died and it made me cry such a sincere man I miss him so much

Wow, even Bruce Timm says he hears Kevin's voice in his head when reading a Batman comic. So sad for us BTAS fans to be celebrating Mask of the Phantasm's 30th anniversary without Kevin around anymore (RIP). Still one of the best Batman movies ever, in both animation and live-action.

You and Adam West made Batman iconic for generations of fans and got them into the comics. I also agree with Bruce Timm, in that I hear Kevin's voice whenever I read a Batman comic or another superhero comic that has Batman in it.

I met Kevin at NYCC many years ago with my son who couldn't have been more than 5-6, maybe even younger. He signed our DVD set of the BTAS and was super gracious. He dropped into the Batman voice and I thought my kid was going to hit the roof (along with his dad). He's the voice that folks of a certain age will always attribute to the Dark Knight. He was vengeance. He was the night. He will ALWAYS be Batman.
I remember as a child Kevin's Batman voice was one of the first voices I tried to mimic. I could only do one line, but I felt like I was doing it justice as an 8 year old. Kevins voice is and always will be the quintessential Batman I hear in my head.
She was the MVP of the DCAU. Timm have given the look of the characters, Walker their themes, Dini, McDuffie and Burrnett their epic tales. But Romano was the one who gave them their voices

Kevin Conroy meant so much to me I would watch all his interviews on TH-cam and his behind the scenes stuff and last year I got seizures and was really depressed and so I bought a Cameo from Kevin and explained to him what had happened and if he could give me some words of encouragement and I didn't watch it till after he died and it made me cry he spent 8 mins just being so wholesome felt so sincere and I couldn't have asked for more. Kevin we love you and you will always be THE Batman.
Mask of the Phantasm to this day is still my favorite film, and I will still argue is the best Batman film. It says so much in its short runtime without feeling rushed. It tells a beautifully tragic story about Batman, which touches on his origin without retreading the same old story beats. Kevin gives an amazing performance where he shows strength, heroicness, sadness and vulnerability. Every Batman movie seems to want to include some kind of romance angle, but this was the only one where the romance was actually worth anything. And it has the Joker, letting him shine and have some great moments, without completely stealing the show like he does in every other movie he's in. But most importantly it still gets Batman's character better than any live action film. When I want to introduce someone to the character I always start by showing them Phantasm. It is the perfect encapsulation of the best of Batman's characterization.
Met him a few years ago at Fan Expo Canada, and it was truly an honour. I said the usual fan boy stuff as in how much of a thrill it was meeting him, which was true. He thanked me, and said they do those kinds of events to connect with the fans and see how much their characters mean to us. Also, it was cool hearing his real voice is his "Bruce Wayne voice". Not gonna lie, his passing still stings. Thank you, Kevin Conroy. Forever Batman. Long live The Bat! 🖤🖤💛🦇💛🖤🖤
Kevin Conroy will always be who I think of when I remember Batman. That voice is just iconic. His death was one of the hardest deaths I dealt with since I'd been hearing him since I was a small child (I'm in my mid 20s now). May he rest in peace, our Dark Knight
"Mask of the Phantasm" was the one WB Batman animation that was actually released to theaters. Even my wife liked it, who didn't really care at all to go.
The hardest part is never the reaction to someone dying. It’s the after that hurts the most. The new way of going out the day knowing that someone will forever be gone, I think that’s the beauty of us. We really are one of a kind.

I mostly grew up hearing Kevin Conroy as Batman ever since I was little when I watched the animated series as well as the other projects that he did as the character. When I heard that he passed away, I cried for over a half-hour. I'm certain that my dad (RIP) and Kevin Conroy are laughing with each other about their experience with Batman. I dare say his sexuality he kept well hidden till his death may have partially amplified his performance. He was channeling this pain his own story (being denied work due to discrimination) and combining with batman's story in his voice. It makes sense why it was magnificently perfect. He shared similar pain. So he is Batman. Best Batman!

People of any generation might say "Oh, Keaton is my Batman." Or Bale, or Affleck, or whatever. But when they imagine Batman confronting some thugs from the shadows, it's Kevin Conroy's voice they hear.
Losing Kevin last November was a huge pill to swallow, but this summer we lost the OG Harley Quinn herself, Arleen Sorkin.... 😢 RIP both Batman and Harley. My definitive voices of the two.

While many other actors did perform (either animated or live action) Batman and Bruce Wayne well, Kevin Conroy’s performance will forever be iconic and is the best still today

Andrea Romano was the best voice casting director. WB animation has really suffered without her.

After Andrea left the voices have been so hit and miss. Often flat and lifeless.

People of any generation might say "Oh, Keaton is my Batman." Or Bale, or Affleck, or whatever. But when they imagine Batman confronting some thugs from the shadows, it's Kevin Conroy's voice they hear.
Losing Kevin last November was a huge pill to swallow, but this summer we lost the OG Harley Quinn herself, Arleen Sorkin.... 😢 RIP both Batman and Harley. My definitive voices of the two.
