Looks like good progress. My question is how will you avoid making a civ copy? I don't know how fleshed out the mechanics are but a problem I have with civilization is that it's too complex o introduce to non gamer friends. So if you ended up making a faster and simpler version I think I would really enjoy it.
Thanks! That is indeed a good point. This kind of game is not meant to be easy, but it should be playable by all kind of players. It is a delicate and difficult balance to achieve. Any player should be able to play and have fun regardless how much effort you want to put on it. At the same time, fan players of this genre enjoy the strategy and the decision making process. For now, we are mostly inspired by Wesnoth with the main difference of having groups of units. We've just started exploring different directions and getting these comments helps us a lot on shaping it. Thanks again!
