      Hey Antonio. Do you have a video about how to choose a proper inseam with respect to height and type of pant/Jean cuts? I'm short 5'8 and have bulky thighs. My go tos are levis 511 with a 30" inseam. But this look still bunches up at the heels of my shoes. I want that no break look. Should I shoot for 29" or keep drying them and hope that they shrink lengthwise? Thanks for helping.

      Hey Antonio, big fan! I have a question for you. I am a big guy. Big as in big not tall, if you know what I mean. My wife is graduating college this may and want to wear a sports coat. Is a sports coat flattering for an over weight guy and where would I start looking for one? Thanks for all of your advice.

    I nearly always wear an undershirt because sweating just doesn't look cool unless of course you're out there mowing the lawn lol. Overall you pretty much nailed all the reasons pro and con, but I think once people start wearing one they won't go back to dressing without an undershirt.

    I wear undershirts almost everyday during the winter and sometimes fall. It keeps me slightly more insulated, it’s an easy way to layer, it makes me look slightly more buff, and yes it keeps my slightly large nipples from visually assaulting everyone through the thin shirts I usually wear

It's also very true about getting more use out of your shirts as well. It's a no brainier. In addition, the need for a quality shirt with moisture wicking is key.

  • @DinnerForkTongue
    @DinnerForkTongue ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I'm personally on Team Undershirt all day every day.
    I found them out by accident when I was in middle school, around 6th or 7th grade. We had strict uniform standards, such as a button shirt and slacks for regular study days and a tank top with shorts for PE class. And I sweat _a lot,_ always did, so I ended up with a MASSIVE sweat stain on my back and on the pits regardless of deodorant brand. Since we had PE always early on in the day but couldn't enter the place with the PE uniform, several of us wore the tank tops under the button shirts to enter the campus to make changing into the PE uniform faster. Just so happened that on a hot day I realised I wasn't staining my button shirt with the tank top under it. Real bingo moment. My mother mentioned that her father was a stylish man who worse undershirts when out of the bakery, so I always wore them as underwear ever since, even in the most casual days imaginable with sneakers and t-shirts.
    That said, I do not go for pure cotton ones, even if the fiber is thin and of good quality. My reason is, cotton doesn't promote evaporation, so when it gets drenched it stays drenched. I prefer a mixed mail of cotton and polyester, which in the right size is snug but comfortable and wicks away humidity really well. As for them showing under the shirt (like the stitching around the edges), that's why I don't wear shirts of thin mail.
    EDIT: I also don't wear undershirts standalone, much like I don't wear my boxers standalone. Underwear is UNDERwear for good reason.

    I wear an undershirt all the time. Im a bigger guy 390lbs and found that an undershirt is a must. Being as big as I am when I lift my arms up the bottom of my stomach can show and I just feel its only right to have an undershirt to keep your skin from showing. An undershirt also helps keep your skin from getting irritated from your suspenders.

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, right, suspenders. I can see those causing chafing easily.
      Also, as a fellow fat guy, undershirts help a lot with hiding belly skin, whether from lifting the arms or from a suboptimal fit causing the mid-button sections to flare open when I'm sitting. That was very embarrassing in the school uniform - I felt like a slob.

      Real Men Real Style Typically yeah, but growing up in north Texas, I found it easier to protect the duration and look of my nicer clothing when wearing a lighter layer underneath. Do I run the risk of cranking up the heat? Quite possibly. But when carefully played out right, in terms of the rest of my outfit, I find it to be practical when it comes to not having the risk of showing sweat marks in my nice clothing. IMO

    Although I don't wear dress shirts as often as I used to, I've gotten in the habit of wearing undershirts that it still sticks with me to this day, even will t-shirts. Without it I feel weird and naked. I like that extra mild compression on my torso, it makes me more aware of the motion of my body.
    P.S. You said you were going to share your opinion only to say you're unbiased. I believe you're team no undershirt only because whenever you're wearing your shirts with your top two buttons undone you're never wearing an undershirt until this video.

    Yes, wear them. I see way too many employees sweat through and or have the hair coming out. With white shirts I believe it is a must for most men. It makes white shirts whiter and hides all of the stuff no one wants to see. Just an opinion of mine but have seen and heard feedback from coworkers and clients pull me aside and bring it up as a point of hygiene.

      There's also the matter of appearance. If you sweat through your dresses, even if you don't show the slighest BO, you still look sleazy, like you're dressing above your capabilities. This can tank your image, especially if you work with sales.

    I used to wear the typical undershirts to help prevent those embarrassing sweat stains in my underarms. Originally, I used Hanes “xtemp” which supposedly lowers your body temp to prevent sweating. SOMEONE IS FIBBING! I still was hot and it didn’t fix the problem. I have a Thompson Tee...thought it would be really nice...but when I received it it felt like there were maxi-pads in the pits. I figured I'd give it a try anyway, but between the maxi-pad armpits and the bamboo fiber construction, it really makes you overheat and sweat more than a regular undershirt made of polyester, lycra, modal, or a comparable fabric with no reinforcement in the pits. The bamboo is also a very friction-bearing fabric. Not a fan. However, I do hope to find an undershirt that meets my needs.

    In Australia we wear singlets although some do wear the under shirt or we call them T-shirts. However there are a few different singlets some have a thick shoulder strap and harder to find these days are the thin shoulder strap. But you are so correct unless your under garment fits properly you will spend your day/night fidgeting to distraction and feeling fat.

    We in India one is taught to use undershirts as a must, since one reaches the age of going to school. Not using it is considered as a bad habit. The main reason being India has a hot tropical climate except in winter which lasts just about 2 or 3 months. So undershirts become an essential item, just like underwears on lower parts and socks on feet. And we never put these on again without washing while changing dresses.

    I used to wear A Frame undershirts but I'm not a fan of these or the more commonly used term for describing them. V necks are a little more feminine and can be difficult to pull off (looks wise not literally) IMO.

    Guys I would wear an undershirt but the issue is I have really bad sweat in my neck. I wash my shirt every 2 days or so and the sweat in my neck leaves visible stains in my collar rim and in my cuffs. I get sweat in my armpits and back too but theres no stain, not even temporarily. Whereever the fabric is doubled it leaves a stain that Is quite hard to remove. (My shirts are 100% cotton.)

    One of the awesomest videos from Rmrs. I am always amazed at the amount of information Mr. Antonio is able to bring into something even as simple as the undershirt that I am literally wondering why haven’t I everyone thought about this in this viewpoint. Got really cracked up at the sending out vibes. Definitely going to do that at the next party 😎🤣🤣

    Team undershirt. By the way I love to use a compresion type undershirt as they fit pretty comfortable under any type of dress shirts even under a regular T-shirt. I do this because I'm a big chewbacca guy. So I try to always look clean and this is what has worked best for me.
    Kind Regards Antonio keep on the good work.

    Here is my opinion on undershirts: Crewneck looks good with a polo, shot sleeve color shirt with jeans. V necks wearing with dress shirt wearing a suit.

    I always wear sleeveless undershirts because I grew up with them and it was traditional to wear them. I never would wear a T, only a sleeveless classic undershirt.

    As a musician who plays (and goes) to gigs in the summer regularly, it is WAY too hot to wear an undershirt or not unbutton at least four buttons when playing those outdoor gigs, and most venues make it unbearably hot on stage. I'm just used to not wearing one, and just some clear deodorant solves the pit stain problem for me

    What a good video. But am I the only one who noticed he miscounted his reasons for skipping an undershirt? As he went 1, 2, 3, he went back to 2, then 3, 4, and 5. But other than that, good video, Antonio.

    I used to wear undershirts years ago and then I forgot about them. Now I've seen the video I'm gonna give them a try again, I think. It is 100% true that shirts are more protected from your own skin when wearing an undershirt. Thanks, Antonio, and great outro, BTW.

    Team undershirt here. Since I live in a tropical country and my own body gets heated quick I just can't live without it. Also the fact that your shirt sticks to your body if you sweating is a no go for me.

    • @DinnerForkTongue

      Too real. With an undershirt I enjoy the cooling properties of sweating without feeling like I'm sweating. It really distributes the perspiration.

    The t shirt must be super bright white, not dingy. The white t makes the dress shirt color true and brighter as it should be. I also recommend the t shirt fit is snug.

    1 to 15 celsius: T-Shirt/Shirt, Hoodie, Jacket, Pants, Underwear, Socks, Trainers

    Sometimes I even wear tracksuit jackets with nothing underneath and I can unzip it fully.

    I was raised to wear an undershirt whenever I wear a button up shirt. The reasoning dad gave was the level of protection for the outer layer shirt. While I do wear undershirts now I am grown, I don’t judge those who choose not to wear one.

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue ปีที่แล้ว

      I wear them even with tees, but that's because my hygiene and comfort demand them. My grandfather did it and he looked impeccable in his outerwear.
      And I don't judge others on it either, unless it's blatant that they could use (or not use) them. Even then I only make a suggestion with pointers, and only once at that. Last thing I want is to be known as fashion police.

    I wear undershirts in the winter when I don't shave my chest and wear it one size smaller than the dress shirt, in the summer I'm shaved smooth so the shadow of the chest hair doesn't show through the dress shirt. Having chest hair show through the collar of your shirt is nasty so I can't imagine that ever. Never had an issue with presperation/deodorant stains.
